Continuous data are summarized with at least the following: median, minimum and maximum. Continuous data are compared using the nonparametric Mann–Whitney U test. Frequency differences are compared using the chi-squared test or Fisher’s exact test where appropriate. Progression free survival (PFS) is defined as time from the start of palliative first-line treatment to documented tumor progression or death. Overall survival (OS) is defined as the time from the start of palliative first-line treatment to death. Residual survival (RS) is defined as the time from the day of documented disease progression to death. Time-to event data are analyzed using standard methods, including Kaplan-Meier product-limit estimate. Differences between the actuarial estimates are tested using the log rank test.
