I am sure that we are all looking forward to Spring. One way or another, it will arrive this month, at least
officially. But, whether the weather is cold or warm, the churches will be busy. Let us see what is happening:
On Saturday, March 2, the Scouts will have their Blue & Gold Banquet in the basement of Christ
Church at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 3, is the Third Sunday in Lent. Sermon: THE EXAMPLE. The Bible
Study/Discipleship Class will meet at the home of Randy & Janey Wehry at 7:00 p.m.
Monday, March 4, Christ Church Consistory meets at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 6, is our Lenten Service at Salem Church, 7:30 p.m. The choir will practice at
6:30 p.m. Sermon: THEY WON’T LISTEN!
Thursday, March 7, Salem Church Consistory will meet at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 9, we will make candy at Christ Church in the Church Basement beginning around
8:00 a.m. This year, the price of candy is $7 per dozen. We need as many volunteers as possible to help!
Also, we will be bringing food there for a time of fellowship. Please bring something to share, if possible.
Sunday, March 10, we begin Daylight Savings Time. Please turn your clocks ahead one hour before
you go to bed on Saturday. This is the Fourth Sunday in Lent at both churches. Sermon: THE APPEAL. This
is also Communion Sunday at Salem Church. Please prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Sacrament. That
evening, at 7:00 p.m., we will have Movie Night at Salem Church. Please plan to come to see a good
Christian film!
Wednesday, March 13, is our Lenten Service at Christ Church, 7:30 p.m. There will be a prayer time
at 7:00 p.m. Sermon: STOP STINKING UP THE PLACE!
1 Friday, March 15, is the deadline for the April LIFELINE. Please have all your information to the
church secretary, Rose Novinger, by this date.
Sunday, March 17, is the Fifth Sunday in Lent and St. Patrick‘s Day. Sermon: THE HEAVENLY
PRIZE. We will have Bible Study/Discipleship Class at the home of Steve & Judy Paul at 7:00 p.m.
Monday, March 18, the Salem Church Sunday School teachers and officers will meet at 7:00 p.m. for
a regular meeting and to fill Easter Eggs.
Wednesday, March 20, is our Lenten Service at Salem Church, 7:30 p.m. There will be a very special
presentation that evening of MESSIAH IN THE PASSOVER by Klaudia Zhelezny of Chosen People
Ministries. Please invite your neighbors to this very special service. Salem Church Choir will practice at 6:30
p.m.
Saturday, March 23, there will be a special Eagle Scout Service for Elliot Beaver at Christ Church.
Congratulations to you, Elliot and family!
Sunday, March 24, is Palm Sunday. Also, we will have an Easter Egg Hunt at the home of Louise
Rothermel at 2:00 p.m. Please don’t come late. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed. We do need
people to set up beforehand and tear down afterwards. Thanks! There is no Confirmation Class that Sunday.
Thursday, March 28, is Maundy Thursday, Christ Church, 7:30 p.m. We will celebrate Holy
Communion at this service. Please prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Sacrament.
Friday, March 29, the Mahantongo Valley GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE will be held at Salem Church
at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Mark and other ministers will participate in the service. Earlier in the day, at noon, there
will be a CROSS WALK held in Valley View. It begins at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Hegins Valley
Good Friday Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Sacramento at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, March 31, is EASTER, the day of Christ’s Resurrection. We will celebrate Holy
Communion at all services. Please, prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Sacrament. As usual, Salem
Church will have an early service at 7:30 a.m., followed by the regular Salem Church service at 9:00 a.m.
Then, there will be the Easter Service at Christ Church at 10:30 a.m., the regular time. I want to thank our
elders and several others who stay at Salem for both services! Christ Church will have its annual Easter Egg
Hunt during the Sunday School hour. However, there will be a brief Sunday School lesson, at least that is the
plan. There is no Confirmation Class that Sunday.
The Lenten Offering for both churches will be given to Haven Ministries in Sunbury. The envelope is
enclosed in your newsletter. Please be generous!
Until next time, macht’s gut un behaft dich!

HARBAUGH’S CORNER
It is our custom to print the Gospel Lesson for Easter in PA German in the month that Easter falls. This is
John 20:1-18 from the Wood Translation:
Datt druff is der Petrus nohkumme, is ins Graab neigange un sehnt die Binne datt leie un’s Schweessduch, as
Noh
is der anner Yinger, as zuerscht zum Graab kumme is, neigange un hot’s gsehne un geglaabt.
Die hen re gsaat: Saag, far was brillscht du?
Yesus saagt re: Saag, far was brillscht du?
No translation is necessary! I hope you enjoyed it.
