MIT Club of Germany Skiing Week:
March 12 to March 19, 2016 in the Tux Valley (Austria)
on the Hintertux Glacier and in the Penken Area
The MIT Club of Germany cordially invites MIT Club members from Austria, Germany
and Switzerland with their partners to join us for a terrific skiing week.
Program Schedule Every day, of course, our focus will be on alpine skiing at all levels (beginner, advanced, experienced ...). Skiing courses can be booked but also be held within our group. Also, cross
country skiing, hiking and just enjoying the magnificent landscape are possible options (see
www.tux.at). In the evening we eat, chat and spend the evening together at our cozy Hotel
Pension Sonnleiten. For more detailed information see the following pages.

Background Information
The Tux Valley (Tuxer Tal) includes two major skiing resorts, the Hintertux Glacier and the
Penken area. Lanersbach is one of the last villages in the Tux Valley, which ends at the
ground station of the Hintertuxer Gletscherbahn:

This resort is a training area of the Austrian National Ski Equipe and reaches up to 3250 m
altitude. The main skiing area is on the glacier and thus snow proof in winter and summer. In
March one often experiences lots of fresh powder snow. However, the main slopes are always well prepared. The ground station is easily reached from the hotel by a free shuttle bus
which stops close to the hotel in Lanersbach.
From Lanersbach you also get easily to the Penken Ski Resort using the Eggalm-Bahn or
the Rastkogel-Bahn:

Catch a glimpse of skiing in the Tux Valley on the following page. This resort is not at such a
high altitude, but also snow proof in March. In addition to many slopes of various difficulties,
the resort also offers a fun park for snow boarders (and artistic skiers) and lots of other activities like paragliding. From the Penken area one slope leads right to Lanersbach, passing by
a number of nice huts which invite you to sit in the late sun and enjoy some food and drinks.
I reserved a number of rooms at the Hotel Pension Sonnleiten. Room rates per person and
day half-board ("Halbpension") including breakfast and dinner choice
