Ph. D. in Operations Research (Technical University Berlin). Prior to his position as a professor at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, he had professional experience as a research fellow in a company founded by Nobel prize winner Prof. Dr. Gerd Binnig. He was subsequently head of financial engineering and optimization group at Visual Analysis, Munich. Major fields of teaching/research: economathematics, statistics, mathematical modelling, computer algebra systems (Mathematica), evolutionary algorithms, analysis and control of complex dynamical systems. Prof. Brand also has extended experiences abroad, primarily in Vietnam (Hanoi) and Latin American countries (Columbia)..
