Highlights I received my first Full Professorship at the Pädagogische Hochschule Westfalen-Lippe, Bielefeld, West Germany, in October 1970. My research projects have been financed by the Stiftung Volkswagenwerk and by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (Volkswagen Foundation and German Research Council). I have been participant in the interdisciplinary project "Early Development in Animals and in Man" at the Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Forschung of the Universität Bielefeld from September 1977 till May 1978. From March 1980 till June 1980 I have been appointed Hill Visiting Professor at the Institute of Child Development, University of Minnesota, at Minneapolis. In February 1982 I have been a key note speaker at a conference as well as an instructor of a 2 week workshop on research methods, on the occasion of the Second Asian Workshop on Child and Adolescent Development in Bangkok, Thailand. The appointment was made by W. W. Hartup, president of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development. My partners have been: J. Goodnow, John R. Weisz and W. A. Collins. In October 1983 I organized the biennial meeting of the German developmental psychologists in Regensburg. I have served a speaker of the division developmental psychology of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychologie (German Society for Psychology) from 1983 - 1985. From October 1985 till April 1986 I was invited as a senior scientist at the Laboratory of Human Ethology (Dr. S. Suomi), National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Bethesda, Maryland, USA. For the academic year October 1986 till September 1987 I have been awarded an Akademiestipendium (Academic year) by Stiftung Volkswagenwerk (VW Foundation) to concentrate on research and writing without administrative and teaching obligations. In August-October of 1989 I worked for 3 months at the Research and Clinical Center for Child Development, Faculty of Education, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. In August/September of 1990 I conducted some field research at the Trobriand Island Human Ethology Laboratory of the Max-Planck-Institute Andechs, Germany I am presently serving as a reviewer of several journals, and as an associate editor for "Social Development" and "Evolution and Cognition".
