When I met Petar Pismestrovic at his vernissage in Köflach
in March 2007, nobody would have dared to image the two
of us co-ordinating the “Austrian Cartoon Award” one year
later. Now this event will be a part of our creative work each
and every year.
Keiner wagte daran zu denken, als ich im März 2007 Petar
Pismestrovic bei seiner Vernissage in Köflach kennenlernte,
dass wir ein Jahr später gemeinsam den „Austrian Cartoon
Award“ ausrichten werden, der nun jedes Jahr Bestandteil
unserer beider kreativer Arbeit sein wird.
I have been a fan of Pismestrovic’s cartoons for many years
since he continuously succeeds in portraying personalities
in a unique way. Moreover, in his drawings Pismestrovic
is able to give a particular expressiveness to political and
social events.
Schon seit vielen Jahren bin ich ein Fan von PismestrovicKarikaturen, gelingt es doch Petar Pismestrovic immer wieder
Persönlichkeiten einzigartig zu portraitieren und politischen
und gesellschaftlichen Ereignissen in einer Zeichnung Ausdruckskraft zu verleihen.
The European championship 2008 in Austria and Switzerland has been the trigger to invite cartoonist from five continents to present the topic ‘soccer’ in a humorous way.
More than 400 cartoonists have followed this call, caricaturing world famous players as well as putting the soccer issue
to paper in a critical and comical way.
Die Fußballeuropameisterschaft 2008 in Österreich und der
Schweiz ist daher der Auslöser gewesen, Karikaturisten aus
fünf Kontinenten einzuladen das Thema Fußball auf humorvolle Art wiederzugeben.
Mehr als 400 Karikaturisten sind diesem Aufruf gefolgt und
haben sowohl weltbekannte Fußballer karikiert als auch
das Thema Fußball auf kritische und witzige Art aufs Papier
gebracht.
The “Styrius” – the trophy of the Austrian Cartoon Award
– stands for imagination, creativity and humour. Each year
it will honour the best cartoons in the city of Graz following
the laid down motto.
Der „Styrius“ – die Trophäe des Austrian Cartoon Award
– steht für Idee, Kreativität und Humor und wird jedes Jahr
in Graz die besten Karikaturen zum ausgerufenen Motto
auszeichnen.

„Portrait“ und „Humor“ werden in diesem Buch präsentiert und spiegeln den
Volkssport Fußball auf humorvolle Weise wieder.
