Das 1977er Debütalbum von Black Uhuru erhält eine gekonnt geniale Frischzellenkur von Gentleman,
Alborosie, U Roy, Chronixx uvm.
In der Besetzung Duckie Simpson, Errol Nelson und Michael Rose beschritten Black Uhuru den ersten Teil
des Weges zum weltweit erfolgreichsten Gesangstrio neben den Wailers, als Tutor und Produzent begleitet
von Lloyd James, schon damals bekannt als Prince Jammy aka dem späteren King Jammy.
Eben dieser hat dem Albumklassiker jetzt einem erstaunlichen Verjüngungsprozess unterzogen ohne den
Vibe der zehn Originalaufnahmen anzutasten und es dabei geschafft hat die Qualität noch zu toppen:
1. die Rasta-Hymne "I Love King Selassie" in der sagenhaften Version "King Selassie Throne" von Jungstar
Chronixx, oder 2. das Marley-Cover "Natural Mystic" im U Roy Deejay-Cut als "Mystic Chant" ist top-a-top 3.
"Satan Army Band" in Gentlemans unnachahmlicher Weise in "Leave Satan Business" transformiert. 4. das
"African Love" Original von Shaggy & Beenie Man mit "Leggo Babylon Wickedness" in die Realität gehievt. 5.
auf "Another Day In The Ghetto" (Original "Hard Ground") zeigt Bounty Killer was Stärke ist. Es gibt
wunderbare Versionen von 6. Dre Island "Walls Of Babylon" (Original "Eden Out Deh"), 7. Kabaka Pyramid
"Peace And Love" (Original "Willow Tree") und 8. Tony Rebel "Dog Nyam Yuh Suppa" (Original "Sorry For The
Man"). Louie Culture präsentiert 9. mit "People Bawling" eine fabelhafte Version von "Love Crisis" und ein
sehnsüchtiges "Peace Treaty Style" von Alborosie (Original "Time To Unite") macht die 10 voll!
