ALESSIA VON MALLINCKRODT
The work of Alessia von Mallinckrodt refers to the complex life in a city, in addition, to the
variability of urban life and nature. In the exhibition "missing" she argues with the most
alive and versatile energies of New York. According to a poetic basic attitude various
expression forms find entrance into her oeuvre. Her nearly fragile working installations are
coined by roominess, intimacy and equally are often characterized by design, painting and
sculpture. Her works circulates in the contrast between nature with all its facet wealth and
the city in all its complexity, between imaginary and material forms. Nature is not to be
separated from the civilization anymore; its protection moved into the focus of the
globalized world. Although the tender landscapes of her ink works seem romantic at first
sight, defects and characteristics of isolation and evanescence on the second view, which
let the object, seem unconscious in the same moment. Behind the surface of in ceramic
formed stones or animal bones Alessia von Mallinckrodt brings it back to life; on the one
hand by referring to the emergence of the form in nature, on the other hand by approaching
the form during a form process.
Between abstraction and imitation a field of different readablenesses opens and permits its
own entrance to her work.
