1. Tag – Ankunft in Las Vegas

Bitte kommen Sie um 8 Uhr in die Hotellobby zum
Begrüßungstreffen mit Ihrem Reiseleiter. Dann Fahrt
zum nahen Zion NP, den wir gegen Mittag erreichen.
Unser Hotel liegt zentral im historischen Springdale,
mit guten Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.
Am Nachmittag besichtigen wir den Park per Tram
und fahren durch den berühmten Canyon. Kurze
Wanderungen bringen uns zu den verschiedenen
Sehenswürdigkeiten wie The Narrows oder Weeping
Rock.

Unsere Tourbegleiter im Bryce Canyon NP
4. Tag – Erkundung des Bryce Canyon NP (F-M)
Heute besuchen wir das exzellente Visitor Center am
Vormittag. Wer will, kann einen Horseback Ride
durch die Felsformationen des Bryce unternehmen
(fakultativ., ca. $40) oder Sie wandern dort mit dem
Reiseleiter. Am Nachmittag fahren wir zum nahen
Lake Powell.

Fahrt: ca. 300 km – 3 Stunden
Zion Nationalpark
3. Tag – Zion NP und Bryce Canyon NP (F - M)
Am Vormittag haben Sie Zeit, um die kleine Stadt
Springdale zu erkunden. Bei Interesse organisiert der
Reiseleiter eine zwei- bis dreistündige Wanderung zu
den Emerald Pools. Am Nachmittag fahren wir etwa
zwei Stunden zum Bryce Canyon NP. Für viele ist
Bryce Canyon der schönste Nationalpark der USA.
Wanderwege winden sich durch rote und rosa
leuchtende Steintürme, die wundervoll mit dem
blauen Himmel und grünen Pinien kontrastieren. Zum
Sonnenuntergang werden Sie den unvergesslichen
Himmel am Rand des „Amphitheaters“ bestaunen:
Von dort lassen sich die besten Fotos machen. Wer
möchte, kann heute Abend das örtliche Rodeo
besuchen (fakultativ, nur im Sommer).

Lake Powell
5. Tag – Erholung am Lake Powell (F-M)
Lake Powell ist durch den Staudamm des Colorado
River entstanden. Hier spiegeln sich rote Sandsteinwände in tief blauem Wasser und bieten Ihnen so
unvergessliche Eindrücke. Wir haben den ganzen
Tag über Zeit, um die Schönheit dieses riesigen, von
Menschenhand geschaffenen Sees zu erkunden. Wir
empfehlen eine Jeep-Tour zu den Antelope Canyons
/ Corkscrew Canyon (fakultativ ab $30), eine
„spritzige“ Rafting Tour auf dem Colorado River
(fakultativ ab $65 für 5 Stunden) oder bei
Sonnenuntergang eine Bootsfahrt zum engen
Antelope Canyon (fakultativ ab $35). Rosenfarbene
Strände laden Sie ein zu einem erfrischenden Sprung
in den See.

Traumziel für alle Fotografen. Entlang des West Rim
können Sie eine leichte Wanderung zum
wunderbaren Aussichtspunkt von „Hermit’s Rest“
machen. Aufgrund von Nationalparkregeln, darf der
Reiseleiter keine Wanderung im Park anbieten).
Dann bleibt Zeit für einen Helikopterflug (fakultativ)
und/oder einen Besuch im IMAX-Kino. Später am
Nachmittag bringt uns eine dreistündige Fahrt auf der
Route 66 zu unserem Hotel.

Antelope Canyon
6. Tag – Monument Valley (F-M)
Wir erreichen das berühmte Monument Valley nach
kurzer Fahrt. Gigantische rote Felstürme ragen aus
dem Tal und bieten phantastische Fotomotive, die
seit Jahrzehnten den Kameras von Hollywood als
Kulisse gedient haben. Wir empfehlen Ihnen eine
unvergessliche Jeep-Tour durch das Tal, geführt von
ortsansässigen Navajo-Indianern, zu abgelegenen
Aussichtspunkten auf die Panoramas von „Ear of the
Wind“ und „Big Hogan“ (fakultativ ab $45). Am
Nachmittag bringt uns eine 2 ½-stündige Fahrt zum
Osteingang des Grand Canyon. Mit ein bisschen
Glück kommen wir dort gerade im richtigen Moment
an, um einen atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergang zu
erleben. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Zugang zum
Nationalpark.

8. Tag – Grand Canyon West und Skywalk (F-M)
Wir brechen früh auf, um den Grand Canyon West
mit seinem weltberühmten Skywalk, einer gläsernen
Plattform über dem Canyon, zu erreichen. Empfehlenswert ist die Fahrt zu verschiedenen Aussichtspunkten (inkl.) oder ein Helikopterflug zum Colorado
River (fakultativ ca. $100) und natürlich der Skywalk
(fakultativ ca. $35). Am Nachmittag fahren wir ca. 6
Stunden durch die karge Wüste zu unserem Hotel in
der Nähe des Death Valley.

7. Tag – Grand Canyon NP (F-M)
Die beiden nächsten Tage verbringen wir am Grand
Canyon! Wir erkunden den Rand des Canyons, ein

9. Tag – Death Valley (F-M)
Das Gebiet des Death Valley steht in heftigem
Gegensatz zu den roten Wüsten Utahs und den
grünen Bergen von Yosemite. Hier herrschen
extreme Temperaturen und Witterungsbedingungen.
Im Sommer steigen die Temperaturen oft über 50°C
und im Death Valley liegt mit 85,5 m unter NN der
tiefste Punkt der USA. Wir haben Zeit, die goldenen
Sanddünen, die Vielzahl der brackigen Teiche und
Quellen und die fantastischen Erosionsformationen
des Zabriskie Point zu erkunden. Wenn es die
Temperaturen erlauben, wandern wir sogar zu den
“Badlands”. Dann fahren wir entlang der über 4000 m
hohen Bergkette der Sierra Nevada nach Kalifornien.
Unser Hotel befindet sich in Mammoth Lakes, dem
renommierten Skigebiet.

Fahrt: ca. 340 km – 4 bis 5 Stunden
10. Tag – Mono Lake, Ghost Town Bodie und
Tuolumne Meadows (F-M)
Morgens besuchen wir Mono Lake, einen der
ältesten Seen dieser Erde, bekannt für seine weißen,
bizarren Kalksintertürmchen. Dann erkunden wir die
alte Geisterstadt Bodie. Über den atemberaubenden
Tioga Pass und den schroffen Bergkamm der Sierra
Nevada gelangen wir auf über 3000 m Höhe. Wenn
es das Wetter erlaubt, wandern wir zum Lembert
Dome, der uns eine spektakuläre Aussicht auf die
High Sierra bietet. In Mariposa, der historischen
Goldgräberstadt, liegt unser Hotel.

Gehzeit: 4-6 Stunden, Strecke: ca. 12 km,
Höhenunterschied: 200m Aufstieg, 900m Abstieg
Sentinel Dome & Taft Point Loop:

Early and Late tours (May and October) may have to detour

12. Tag – Fahrt nach San Francisco (F-M)
Wir fahren weiter nach San Francisco, der berühmten
Stadt am Pazifik, und über die Golden Gate Bridge
hinein ins Zentrum.

Fahrt: ca. 340 km – 3-4 Stunden
13. Tag – San Francisco Stadtbesichtigung (F-M)
Heute erkunden wir die Stadt per Cable Car und zu
Fuß und finden überall versteckte Schätze in dieser
traumhaften Stadt. Der Nachmittag steht dann zur
freien Verfügung. Neben anderen Möglichkeiten ist
eine Hafenrundfahrt sehr zu empfehlen (fakultativ, ca
$30 pp).
Glacier Point - Yosemite NP
11. Tag – Yosemite NP, Bärenpirsch (F-M)
Heute entdecken wir Yosemite NP, ein UNESCO
Weltkulturerbe der Menschheit. Am Morgen fahren
wir zum fantastischen Mariposa Grove, einem weltberühmten Wald der Giant Sequoias. Wir empfehlen
eine Fahrt mit der Park-Bahn (fakultativ ca. $20) und
einen Spaziergang auf den schönen Waldwegen.
Dann fahren wir mit unserem Van zum Glacier Point,
dem beeindruckendsten Aussichtspunkt im
Nationalpark, den große Reisebusse nicht anfahren
dürfen. Von hier haben wir einen perfekten Blick auf
Half Dome. Wer will, steigt eigenständig ins Tal
hinab. Der Reiseleiter kann eine kürzere, einfachere
Wanderung entlang des Rands des Yosemite Valley
anbieten. Wir warten bis zum Sonnenuntergang,
damit Sie unvergessliche Fotos machen und
vielleicht ein paar Bären sehen können.

Nach dem Frühstück bringt Sie der Shuttlebus zum

Temperature:
The weather in this region is extremely stable, particularly in spring, summer and fall. Sunshine prevails. Coupled with
very low humidity it makes this region ideal for hiking. In summer (June to mid-September) temperatures during daytime
are very pleasant in Yosemite, Bryce and Grand Canyon (75° - 80°F) due to the altitude of their mountain locales (3000 7500 ft). In the deserts of Utah daytime temperatures of 75° - 95°F are typical. The hiking tours there are done early in the
morning. In the lowest altitude destinations, like Death Valley and Las Vegas, it is extremely hot in the summer (100+°).
Since no hikes are planned in these areas, this is not a big issue. In August there is often a daily short, heavy rainstorm,
which can cool the air quite nicely. In spring and fall (April to mid-June, mid-September through October) average
temperatures drop about 20°. These are the best seasons for hiking in the deserts of Utah, while in the mountain regions
of Yosemite and even in Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyon chillier days are encountered, particularly when the occasional
storm passes through. The month of May offers outstanding wildflowers, while the soft light of early Fall (mid- to endSeptember) is favored by many photography enthusiasts.

Please be at the appointed hotel no later than 8 A.M. for the orientation meeting on the first day of the tour.
Please bring a copy of your travel insurance to this meeting. Be aware that all participants must sign a Liability
Waiver. In case your flight has been delayed and you are unable to make it to the Orientation Meeting, it is
essential that you contact us immediately at our toll-free number: 1-888-233-1297. Our office is not staffed on the
weekends, but the toll-free number will get you our current weekend emergency number. At the emergency
number please leave details of your revised travel plans and the telephone number, at which we can reach you to
coordinate an alternative meeting with the tour. In the event that you are delayed more than a few hours the
group can unfortunately not wait. If you neither appear at the orientation meeting nor contact us, we will be
forced to conclude that you have canceled your plan to be with the tour.

You should dress in layers, so that it is easy to add and remove clothing when temperature changes. It can be very chilly
in the morning, but the warm-up is rapid.
If you are doing slide photography, bring all your film supplies with you. It is namely almost impossible in the U.S. to find
slide film outside of big cities. There will also be little or no access to currency exchange, so convert all the cash you need
for the tour to US $ before you join us. We recommend a combination of cash, traveler’s checks (American Express or
Thomas Cook) and, most preferably, VISA or Mastercard. You will have access to ATM cash machines, so bring your
credit card(s) along together with your PIN Nummer, but note that American cash machines usually will not accept
Eurocard. Otherwise, credit cards are accepted everywhere in the U.S. Small fees are sometimes charged for using them.
Diners Club and American Express are not accepted as universally as Visa or Mastercard.
Baggage Limit: Due to limited space on the tour vans each traveler can bring only two small to medium items of luggage
on the tour. During the tour there are washing machines and dryers, where you can do your laundry for a small charge.
Additional Expenses: Each traveler will need app. $5-10/day for postcards, beverages, tips, etc. Be prepared to tip the
tour leader between $42 and $70 per participant, depending on his/her performance. In the U.S. it is the norm to tip for
most every kind of service.
Food: The U.S. generally has a large selection of freshly prepared foods and fresh vegetables. In the country, however,
the variety is more limited. Breakfast is sometimes included with the hotel lodging, other times it must be acquired in a
restaurant. In either case breakfast is included in our tour price. Hotel "continental breakfasts" are usually very basic:
coffee, tea, toast, jam, cereal, though they sometimes include waffles, fruit, muesli and yogurt. Lunch provisions are
provided by your tour leader. You fix your own lunch in advance, so that it can be eaten on the day's outing. Bread,
sausage, cheese, fruit and snacks are provided for this purpose. Beverages are not included. Dinner is taken in the hotel
or in nearby restaurants. Your tour leader will make restaurant recommendations. Dinners typically cost $20-35 per
person, sometimes less, excluding the cost of beverages. A glass of wine costs $5-15 depending on the quality, and beer
runs $3-5/glass.
Booking/ Cancellations
BOOKING
Please use our booking form found on our web site to book your passengers. Indicate if your passenger wants a single
room, a double, or is a single wanting to share. We may or may not have singles sharing. In the case of a single wanting
to share being in a single room, some tours offer a reduced single supplement. We will confirm the booking within 1 day
(longer over the weekend), issuing a booking number. Current booking conditions can be found on our extra net at
www.atwtourinfo.com. Wholesalers can request log in and password information for our extranet site. Bookings are
updated daily at noon.
Tours are either “open” - we accept bookings, “guaranteed” - we have enough bookings to operate the tours, “on request”
- a tour is almost full, “full” - a tour is sold out, or “cancelled”. However what you find on our web site may be outdated if
we receive a lot of requests. Bookings are accepted as received and confirmations must be sent by our office before you
can confirm the booking with your client.
LANGUAGES
Certain tours have language selections pre-set. For other tours the language is determined 2-4 months out depending on
which languages have booked. Once ATW assigns a guide, it is difficult to change the language selection, even if more
people of a certain language book. Short term language changes are very difficult for us to accommodate. Before
promising a certain language to one of your clients we recommend you ask us which tour your client is booked on and
which languages will be offered.

FIT EXTENSION RATES
FIT extension rates are pre-negotiated but if a client reserves their extension with less than 90 day notice we may not be
able to guarantee the rates due to the heavy convention schedule in Las Vegas and San Francisco. In either case
extension rates are not guaranteed until confirmed and accepted by the hotel.
CONFIRMATION OF TOURS
We will confirm the departure of a tour no later than 45 days prior to departure. At that point we will require a nonrefundable deposit of $400 per passenger.
Full payment is due 30 days prior to departure. Once payment is received we will issue a voucher that has to be
presented to our tour director at the start of the tour.
CANCELLATIONS
There will be no refunds for cancellations under 30 days, there will be no refunds for “no shows” or interrupted travel. We
accept name substitution up to 15 days prior to arrival without a fee. Starting 15 days before arrival name changes are
considered cancellations. If you pay with credit card you should add 3% to the above prices to cover any extra costs.
Once full payment is received a voucher will be issued by our office.
DISRUPTIVE PASSENGERS
We reserve the right to remove a passenger from tour if he/she is not fit enough to keep up, a disturbance to the group,
disruptive or sick. We will try to make any possible arrangement to keep passengers from having to leave the group but if
a group member cannot keep up with the schedule they may be asked to stay behind in the hotel.
LATE BOOKINGS
We can accept late bookings up to 1 week prior to arrival. However with late bookings we do require that we receive full
payment before arrival of the client.
HOTEL SUBSTITUTIONS
ATW reserves the right to change hotels when needed. Hotel substitutions are generally of equal or higher value,
however in some instances a lower class hotel is selected if no better alternative is available.
COMPLAINTS
All complaints must be brought to the guide’s attention during the tour. ATW must be given the opportunity to remedy the
situation before any recourse is possible. The complaint therefore should be made in writing to the guide.
