9th International Congress and Exhibition Forum Life Science Pharma Development Food & Nutrition 11-12 March 2015 Technische Universität München Garching, Germany Industrial Biotechnology Welcome Latest bioscientific results form the basis for many innovations in various industry sectors. In the pharmaceutical industry targeted drugs and highly specific diagnostics allow new therapeutic approaches. Understanding the interaction of nutrition and the human organism enables innovative concepts in the food sector. A bioeconomy based on renewable raw materials and independent from fossil resources is only feasible using biotechnological processes. Chemicals, plastics, fibers and fuels are already being produced from biogenic resources. In these sectors and corresponding future technologies, Bavaria is one of the leading regions - both in terms of scientific research and industrial implementation. A critical success factor is the close interaction between science and different industry sectors. This enables a fast and successful transfer of research results into novel technologies and innovative products. Not only start-ups and technology companies but also established medium-sized companies in many industries benefit from this. Through the “Forum Life Science”, Bayern Innovativ GmbH has developed a platform for cross-sector networking between companies in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical industry, the materials and fuel sector and research institutions. This congress has now established itself as one of Europe‘s largest conferences in the field of Life Sciences and receives the comprehensive support of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. Leading experts from science and industry present new technologies, product innovations and recent research results focussing on “Pharma Development“, “Food & Nutrition“ and “Industrial Biotechnology“. The “Forum Life Science” supports the objectives of the Bavarian Cluster Initiative to strengthen the regional networks of companies, research institutions and service providers and to expand these to an international level. I wish the “Forum Life Science 2015” every success and would like to invite you cordially to participate. Technology Dating – Enterprise Europe Network “Technology Dating” is a new event module provided by Bayern Innovativ GmbH to its international participants within the international activities as a partner of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN). The method: In pre-arranged, technologically-oriented meetings each two participants discuss possible collaborations. In order to use the 15 minutes talks as efficiently as possible, all participants create cooperations profiles in advance. These are made accessible to the congress participants well in advance. The incoming “dating” -wishes are coordinated by Bayern Innovativ and are made available for the participants shortly before the congress via an individual schedule. Elevator Pitches During the parallel session, participating companies and institutions have the possibility to give a brief insight into their research and development projects. Applications are made through the submission of abstracts and registration for a scientific poster. The Network Life Science of Bayern Innovativ supports the following clusters: The Cluster Biotechnology strengthens the ties between the Bavarian local regions by maintaining a state-wide network comprising of research institutes, life-science companies und network organizations. Major strategies are, among others, promoting technology transfer between academic institutions and the industry as well as within the industry itself, providing advice on financing opportunities and funding programs and training of biotech industry employees. By improving the internal network the access through partners from outside shall be facilitated. Chemie-Cluster Bayern is a market-oriented project-development network of companies and R&D-Institutes of the Bavarian chemical sector and their international partners. In the frame-work of the publicly-funded Cluster Initiative Bavaria it represents a strong network of more than 260 companies and R&D-Institutes, which exchange experiences, mediate contacts and bring products to markets faster. The Food Cluster aims to strengthen the competitiveness and the capacity for innovation of the nutrition location of Bavaria. As the central platform of the network, the Cluster brings together important factors in the food and nutrition sector. It creates impulses, accompanies future-orientated subjects, and establishes knock-on financing for innovative ideas.
