Qualifying for
About the Faculty of Social Sciences
About 1,000 students are currently enrolled in the faculty. About 240
students are admitted every year. The teaching staff consists currently
of 28 professors, two lecturers as well as a number of visiting lectures
from various fields of action. The library is situated in the faculty building.
A computer lab with 40 computers is available. There are also special
facilities for music, theatre, painting, media, projects and sports.

About the Grundig Akademie
The Grundig Akademie was established in 1978 as a non-profitmaking foundation by Max Grundig, one of the most innovative
­German industrialists of the post-war era. From the very beginning, the
Academy has regarded itself as an educational institution that not only
teaches very specific technical and business know-how in targeted
training courses, but also imparts extensive knowledge for different
kinds of occupational groups in longer-term further education.

Qualifying for Counseling
The Faculty Social Sciences of the Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg offers the following ways of qualifying for Counseling
in cooperation with the “Grundig Akademie”:
Advanced Studies Master Degree
“Counseling in various professional settings”
Objectives of Qualifying:
Students acquire the competencies for Initializing, managing, supervising and controlling individual, family, and organizational developmental
and changing processes. They learn, together with their clients and for
them
• To open up chances
Counselor for individuals, groups and
­organizations – advanced studies with
­university certificate
Objects of qualification:
• Arrangement of the basic capabilities and knowledge for counseling
of individuals, groups and organizations
• Critical reflecting and training of the conceptualization and realization
of counseling processes
• To disclose potentials
• To develop new options
• To generate practical knowledge (f.e. “best practice”), and
• To realize available and new generated findings
The range of using these qualifications is broad: it includes psychosocial counseling in dyadic and triadic settings, human resources
management, various service areas and coaching up to organizational
change and knowledge management.
Special issues are:
• Managing the roles, knowing the basics of competent action in the
context of social systems and development of own professional
perspectives
• Development of the personal potentials in the own field of counseling,
defining the own position for counseling activities.
Requirements for participation:
Successful vocational training or a bachelor degree and two years of
relevant working with counseling tasks.
• Theory and concepts overlapping training by practical and scientifical
experienced Trainer
College tuition: 7,500 € or 400 € per month
• The inclusion of electronic media in counseling contexts (incl. onlinecounseling)
Diploma:
• The comparison and exchange between different areas of counseling
University certificate “Counselor for Individuals, Groups and Organizations.”
• The systematic development of the own profile
• The use of scientific methods within counseling contexts
Requirements for participation:
A bachelor degree or comparable (f.e. german “Diplom”) and two years
of relevant working with counseling tasks.
Inhouse-Trainings
If wanted, special qualifyings for counseling can be designed and
­realized for organizations and enterprises.
College tuition: 12,000 € or 400 € per month
Academic degree: Master of Arts

Seminaristic lessons including use of electronic media, experience
orientated trainings, supervision in groups, projects in reflective social
sciences. Of great importance is the mutual learning and exchange of
experiences between various contexts of counseling. Didactic principle
is to qualify for a self-reflective elaborated practice on scientific basics.
