Switzerland to welcome living legend within the drifting community, Keiichi Tsuchiya!
Swiss Drift Association is delighted to announce that the Drift King, Keiichi Tsuchiya,
will travel from Japan to attend the King of Europe Pro Series hosted in Lignières (NE)
on the 13th and 14th of August!
The Swiss Drift Association is extremely honored to welcome a living legend within the
drifting community. Keiichi Tsuchiya is credited with developing several drifting
techniques widely used by professional drivers today.
Mr. Keiichi Tsuchiya first used the drifting technique at an official race on 1977. He
kept high speeds while entering corners and this forced the car to tail slide, thus
drifting was born at an official race, he was also given the nickname “Drift King” in the
process. He retired as a racing driver on 2003 and focused his efforts to train and
encourage younger drifters whilst also managing and judging drift events.
As well as his driving style, Keiichi is also known for famous quotes such as “I drift to
overtake. Not because it is the quickest way around a corner, but the most exciting
way.” and also more recently for his appearance in The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift
movie.
Tsuchiya, alongside Daijiro Inada, formed the D1GP series in Japan before they later
both left to form the Drift Muscle series in 2010, which is still hugely successful.
We look forward to welcoming the Japanese legend in Switzerland, and we have no
doubt that the fans and drivers will be ecstatic to have the Drift King on-board!

La Suisse s’apprête accueillir une légende vivante du Drift, Keiichi Tsuchiya!
La Swiss Drift Association a le plaisir d’annoncer que le Drift King, Keiichi Tsuchiya,
fera le déplacement depuis le Japon pour participer à la manche du King of Europe Pro
Series qui se tiendra à Lignières (NE) les 13 et 14 août prochains.
La Swiss Drift Association est très honorée de pouvoir accueillir une légende vivante
de la communauté Drift. Keiichi Tsuchiya est à l’origine de la création de plusieurs
techniques de Drift largement utilisées par les pilotes professionnels de nos jours.
Keiichi Tsuchiya utilisa la technique dite du Drift, pour la première fois en 1977 lors
d’une course officielle. Il conserva une vitesse élevée dans les virages, ce qui força la
voiture à survirer. Ainsi était né le Drift en compétition et ceci lui a valu le surnom de
« Drift King ». Il prit sa retraite de pilote de course en 2003 et concentra ses efforts à
entrainer et encourager de jeunes drifters tout en organisant et jugeant des
évènements de Drift.
Keiichi est aussi connu pour son style de pilotage que ses phrases cultes dont « Je
drifte (…) pas parce que c’est le moyen le plus rapide de passer le virage, mais c’est le
plus excitant. ». Plus récemment il fera une apparition dans le film « The Fast and
Furious: Tokyo Drift ».
Tsuchiya, aux côtés de Daijiro Inada, créa le D1GP series au Japon avant de quitter
tous les deux cette compétition pour créer le Drift Muscle series en 2010, qui
rencontre un succès énorme.
Nous nous réjouissons d’accueillir cette légende japonaise en Suisse, et nous ne
doutons pas que les fans et pilotes seront ravis de compter le Drift King parmi eux!

Die Schweiz heisst eine lebende Drift-Legende willkommen, Keiichi Tsuchiya!
Die Swiss Drift Association verkündet mit Freude, dass der Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya
die weite Reise von Japan nach Europa auf sich nehmen wird um den King of Europe
Pro Series Event am 12. und 13. August in Lignières (NE) besuchen zu können.
Die Swiss Drift Association fühlt sich in höchstem Masse geehrt eine lebende Legende
der weltweiten Driftgemeinschaft begrüssen zu dürfen. Keiichi Tsuchiya sind viele
Fahrtechniken zu verdanken, mit welchen heutige Pro-Fahrer ihre Siege einfahren.
Herr Keiichi Tsuchiya benutzte erstmals das Driften an einem offiziellen Rennen in
1977. Er behielt die hohen Geschwindigkeiten während den Kurveneinfahrten und
zwang das Heck des Wagens zum Ausbrechen. In den folgenden Jahren wurde ihm der
Spitzname "Drift King" verliehen.
Seine Rennkarriere beendete er 2003 und fokussierte sich von da an für die
Ausbildung und Unterstützung junger Fahrer. Gleichzeitig koordinierte er Driftevents
und bewertete die Drifts als Jury-Mitglied vieler Events.
Neben seinem Fahrerischen Können ist Keiichi zudem für seine Sprüche bekannt, wie
beispielweise “I drift to overtake. Not because it is the quickest way around a corner,
but the most exciting way.”
Er war auch im Film "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" zu sehen.
Tsuchiya formte mit Daijiro Inada zusammen die D1GP Serie in Japan bis sie sich
beide 2010 aus der Serie zurück zogen.
Wir freuen uns die japanische Legende einmal in der Schweiz begrüssen zu dürfen und
haben keinen Zweifel daran, dass Fans und Fahrer sich ebenso riesig freuen den King
an Bord zu haben!
