Basel Zoo has extended and renovated the Ape House built in the 1960s.
Around the Ape House, outdoor enclosures surrounded by netting are
now being landscaped. For the first time, the great apes will be able to
choose whether to spend their time indoors or in the outdoor enclosures
designed to recreate jungle-like conditions. The animals can climb to
dizzying heights, roam in search of food and feel rain, sun, wind or snow
on their fur.
The great apes will experience a whole new world of sensations,
and you will gain new insights into the lives of our nearest relatives.
The new Great Ape World is to open in the summer of 2012.
While the new enclosures are being built, you can visit the monkeys
in the renovated Monkey House. Crab-eating macaques share the cliffs
with snow leopards and you will find ring-tailed lemurs on the island
near the Etosha House.

Der Zolli baut für die Menschenaffen
Le zoo de Bâle rénove et construit pour les grands singes
Der Zoo ist 365 Tage im Jahr offen
Der Zolli hat das aus den 60er-Jahren stammende Affenhaus umgebaut
und saniert. Nun entstehen um das Gebäude von Netzen begrenzte
Freianlagen. Neu werden die Menschenaffen die Wahl haben, ob sie sich
lieber im Haus oder in den dschungelartig strukturierten Aussenbereichen
aufhalten. Die Tiere können in Schwindel erregenden Höhen klettern,
auf Futtersuche umherstreifen und Regen, Sonne, Wind und Schnee auf
ihrem Fell spüren.
Le zoo de Bâle rénove et agrandit le pavillon des singes, datant des
années 60. Bientôt, les grands singes auront le choix de vivre dedans
ou dehors, dans un environnement structuré et représentatif de leur
vie dans la nature. Des filets délimiteront les zones extérieures entourant la maison. Les grands singes pourront grimper à des hauteurs
vertigineuses, rôder à la recherche de nourriture et sentir sur leur
pelage pluie, vent, soleil et neige.

die neue Erlebniswelt der Menschenaffen im Sommer 2012.

Während der Bauzeit der Aussenanlagen können Sie die Affen im umgebauten Haus besuchen. Die Javaneraffen finden Sie auf dem Felsen
bei den Schneeleoparden, die Kattas auf der Insel beim Etoschahaus.
Durant la construction des zones extérieures, vous pouvez voir les
singes à l’intérieur de la maison rénovée. Les macaques de Buffon
logent sur le rocher à proximité des léopards des neiges et les cattas
sur l’ˆlle proche de la maison Etosha.
