The polymer material absorbs ultraviolet radiation with light transmittance in the visible region of the spectrum of approximately 90% and UV transmittance below 10% at wavelengths below 370nm (s. Figure:1). Indications: InFo© lenses are indicated for adult pseudo-phakic treatment of cataract. The InFo© lenses are intended to be placed entirely within the capsular bag, to replace the natural crystalline lens in the visual correction of aphakia. Contraindications: Before implanting the InFo© lenses with any of the following conditions, preoperative evaluation should be performed by a surgeon to consider the potential benefit/risk ratio: 1. Where the patient already has pathologies or physiological conditions, which may be aggravated by the lens, or in cases where the lens may interfere with the possibility of examining or treating diseases. Acute eye diseases or external or internal infection Fuchs´ proliferative diabetic retinopathy Severe corneal dystrophy High myopia Chronic or recurrent severe uveitis Severe optic nerve atrophy Congenital bilateral cataracts or non-age related cataract Glaucoma Choroidal hemorrhage Color vision deficiencies Irregular corneal astigmatism Extremely shallow anterior chamber Severe Microphthalmos or Macrophthalmos Aniridia Retinal Detachment Macular degeneration 2. Severe complications during surgery: Choroidal hemorrhage Vitreous loss Complications: Adverse reactions and complications due to or following surgery may include, but are not limited to: -Endophtalmitis -Discharge from the wound, inadequate healing of incision, iris prolapse -Anterior chamber hemorrhage -Choroidal hemorrhage -Hypopyon -Loss of vitreous -Trauma of the iris -Rupture of the posterior capsule/zonula -Rupture of the haptics during insertion or in the eye -Difficulties folding the implant/damage to the implant during implantation -Changes in Performance of device caused by wrong handling or manipulation Precaution. Handle with care (refer to table 2 for symbols used on packaging): 1. Do not reuse the lens in case of explantations 2. Do not attempt to re-sterilize the lens 3. The lenses should not be exposed to any solutions other than the normally used intraocular irrigating solutions (e.g. isotonic saline, BSS, viscoelastic, etc.). 4. The lens should be handled carefully at room temperature. No attempts should be made to reshape or cut any portion of the lens or to apply undue pressure to the lens’ optical portion with a sha rp object. 5. Do not allow the lens to dry in air. The lens should be stored in a sterile BSS solution during surgery. 6. Care should be taken to remove the Ophthalmic Viscosurgical Device used with the injector, from the eye at the end of the surgery. 7. For implantation of InFo© lens in eyes with unusual Chamber Depth (corneal endothelium to anterior lens capsule) should consult their ophthalmologist. 8. Implantation of an InFo© lens should be closely supervised by a qualified ophthalmologist. 9. Store at room temperature. Do not store in sunlight, or at more than 45°C, or under 5 °C for an extended time 10. Contamination of the lens or of all used materials may lead to injury or illness of the patient. Calculation of Lens Power and Sizing of the INFO lens Implantation of the Lens requires that a pre-operative determination of the dioptric power to be implanted. Achievement of emmetropia is not necessarily a desirable postoperative goal, and factors such as visual status of the fellow eye and patient lifestyle must be considered in determining the lens power to be used. Physicians requiring information on lens power calculation may contact SAV-IOL. The Aconstant, used with SRK-T formula is given on the label. How supplied: Each InFo© lens is provided sterile and non-pyrogenic in sealed primary package containing BSS solution. The primary package are sealed within an individual sterility protector and placed in a box with labels and product information. This device was sterilized with steam. Lens Preparation: The package should be opened in a sterile field. Record Serial Number on operative report to retain traceability. Using a pair of forceps, remove the lens from the package. The lens should not be exposed to a dry environment (air) for more than one minute. DO NOT ALLOW THE LENS TO DRY AFTER REMOVAL FROM THE PACKAGE IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION, DO NOT OPEN TWO INDIVIDUAL STERILITY PROTECTORS AT THE SAME TIME Administration and Instruction for Use: The Implantation of any lens should only be conducted by a surgeon, being skilled in the required surgical technique. The following procedure is recommended for implantation of SAV-IOL InFoT© lens: The patient should be prepared for surgery according to standard procedure. A clear scleral or corneal tunnel wound incision should be used, followed by filling of the anterior and posterior chamber with an appropriate viscoelastic for the extraction of the crystalline lens. The InFo© lens is then folded using an appropriate injector system and injected. The general instruction for the use of an injector system is presented in this document for informational reasons. 1. Position the lens in the middle of the cartridge, making sure that the front side (cornea side) is facing up. 2. Use the forceps open, in a way to absolutely avoid touching the optic surface of the lens. Gently fold the 2 wings of the cartridge pressing on the edges of the optic surface. When the cartridge is nearly closed, pull the forceps arms to the back only maintaining a slight pressure so that the lens does not move. Make sure that the haptics are properly inserted in the cartridge. If necessary, gently press them in using the jaws of the forceps. 3. Maintain the two wings of the cartridge closed 4. Insert the cartridge in the injector body. Carefully move the plunger of the injector and gently push the lens all the way to the end of the barrel. Direction of the injector tip in the eye, pressure applied to the plunger of the injector and the speed at which the plunger is moved are all at the discretion and control of the surgeon. Please, refer to the product insert provided with the injector for instructions regarding proper loading and implantation using the injection system. Verify correct orientation of the InFo© lens and that the lens is not inverted. The front side of the lens must be oriented towards the cornea. If the pupil remains sufficiently dilated, the InFo© lens should be well centered. From this point, the operation can proceed according to the standard surgical procedures. The postoperative follow-up of the patient shall also follow standard surgical protocols. Directions for use: 1) Prior to implanting, check the label of the lens package for proper lens model and power and proper configuration. 2) Open the pack and check the dioptric power of the lens. 3) Handle the lens by the haptics portion. Do not grasp the optic with forceps and never touch the center of the optic especially once the InFo© lens is placed inside the eye. 4) SAV-IOL recommends using only adequate injector system to insert the InFo© lens in the folded state through an incision > 2.8mm. 5) Complete removal of viscoelastic from the eye after completion of the surgical procedure is essential. Viscoelastic devices that may be difficult to aspirate should not be used. Caution: Do not use lens if the package has been damaged or past the sterility expiration date. The sterility of the lens may have been compromised. Return Policy: For returns or exchanges of the InFo© Lens please contact SAVIOL SA or the local distributor.
