A Origem da Bandeira Americana

Antes da bandeira que atualmente é conhecida, com as estrelas e as faixas vermelhas e brancas, era
utilizada uma bandeira que representava a força colonizadora britânica.
Conhecida como Bandeira da Grande União, tinha também 13 faixas e a “Union Jack” de Inglaterra no
canto esquerdo superior, onde mais tarde ficariam as estrelas.
Esta bandeira apenas durou apenas 1 ano, 6 meses e 9 dias e é considerada por muitos historiadores como
a primeira bandeira oficial dos Estados Unidos, apesar da sua forte referência ao jugo do império
britânico.
Talvez devido a essa referência e ao fato de decorrer a guerra da independência contra Inglaterra, em 14
de Junho de 1777 o congresso decretou que seria criada uma nova bandeira e que a mesma teria treze
listas e treze estrelas, simbolizando assim as treze colônias que lutavam contra as forças colonizadoras.
As estrelas ficariam no local onde, na bandeira anterior aparecia o símbolo do império britânico.
Embora sem grandes provas documentais, a bandeira do lado direito, foi costurada pela americana Betsy
Ross, de Filadélfia, que ficou assim para sempre ligada ao nascimento da versão atual da bandeira dos
Estados Unidos.

Hasteada pela primeira vez em 3 de Agosto de
1777, em Fort Stanwix, a bandeira teve um início
tumultuoso, participando da Batalha de Oriskany em 6 de
Agosto, com apenas três dias de idade.
A bandeira dos Estados Unidos teve 26 modificações no
decorrer da história. A última modificação, que estabeleceu
a configuração atual com 50 estrelas, ocorreu em 4 de julho de 1960.

Before the current flag, with the stars in red and white stripes, it was used a flag which represented the
British Colonizing strength.
It was known like the Great Union Flag, it had also 13 stripes and the “Union Jack” of England on the
high left corner, where later the stars would be.
This flag just lasted 1 year, 6 months and 9 days and it´s considered for many Historian People as the
first official flag of The United States, although its strong reference to the British Empire dominion.
Perhaps due to this reference and to the fact of happening the Independence War against England, on

June 14 1777 the Congress decreed that a new flag would be created with thirteen stars, symbolizing
the thirteen colonies which fought against the Colonizing strength.
The stars would be in the place where, in the old one appeared the British Empire symbol.

Although it was without great proves, on the right, was sewed by the American Betsy Ross, from
Philadelphia, which has been always linked to the appearing of the current flag of the United States.
