Objectives: ITM’01 has the goal of bringing together experts from different areas to discuss the state-of-the-art and to present new research results and perspectives of the future developments. The technical sessions of the conference will take place in Istanbul during October 1-3, 2001. The conference will be followed by a workshop that will take place in Cappadocia on October 4-6, 2001, during which the future directions in mechatronics will be discussed in depth, especially from an IT application point of view. For participation in the workshop, the organizers are to be contacted separately. Topics: The scope of the conference will cover but be not limited to IT applications in: • Mechatronics design • Intelligent transportation systems • Modelling and simulation • Embedded real-time systems • Distributed systems • Micro mechatronics • Vision and sensors • Man/machine interfaces • Robots and mobile machines • Hardware/software co-design • Vibration and control • Intelligent manufacturing systems • Motion control • Fault detection and diagnosis • Computational intelligence in mechatronics • Education and training in mechatronics Paper submission: Prospective participants are invited to electronically submit an extended summary (700-1000 words, text only) of their work, following the instructions available on the web page. Accepted papers will be published in a proceedings volume that will be available during the time of the conference. Some papers will be selected for possible publication in a focused section of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics. Further information about the conference can be obtained from the organizers or from the conference program co-chairs, the contact details of which are given below.
