Dear Friends, welcome to the 12th edition of the Costa
Verde News.
Summer has finally arrived; and, in this edition, we will
have the pleasure to share with you all our successes and
accomplishments of the past 3 months.
In this edition, we shall travel extensively, all the way to the
capital, Lisbon, and stopping in the archipelago of the
Azores. This bulletin also covers the Gold Seal prize, which
was granted to us by Apicer, within the scope of the
Portugal “Does It Better” project. We also have the latest
golfing news for you, from the World Corporate Golf
Challenge and PGA competitions.
Costa Verde once again showcased their investment in solidarity through its support and participation in the “Corrida
Solidária” Bosch (Bosch Solidarity Race), as well as in its
support to the initiative, “Amar a Vagueira”, “Amar
Portugal”, “Amar o Planeta” (Love Vagueira, Love
Portugal, Love the Planet).
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish each and

Nesta época de verão, gostaria de, contrariando todo o
negativismo e pessimismo que se vive no nosso país,
enviar a todos uma mensagem de alguma esperança e
satisfação, pelo trabalho realizado.
Mais um ano de trabalho passou e neste momento todos
contamos os dias até ás ferias, que nos permitirão o
descanso merecido junto dos que nos são mais próximos
e sendo portugueses, seguramente junto ao mar, numa
das nossas bonitas praias.
A Costa Verde não é diferente e depois de um ano cheio
de dificuldades, sentimos que felizmente podemos ir de
ferias com o sentimento de dever cumprido.
Todos, ao longo destes 11 meses de trabalho demos o
nosso melhor para que a Costa Verde hoje viva uma situação de relativa estabilidade, o que nos dias de hoje e com
a instabilidade reinante em Portugal e sobretudo no sul
da Europa e mesmo na zona Euro, é de enaltecer.
A todos e para todos os meus desejos de umas férias felizes.
During this summer season, and going against all the
negativity and pessimism which currently prevails in our
country, I would like to send each and every one of you a
message of some hope and satisfaction, for all the great
work which has been done. Another year of hard work has
been concluded and, at the moment, we are all counting
the days till our summer holidays, during which, we will all
be able to enjoy a well deserved break close to those who
are closest to us; and as we are Portuguese, we shall surely
enjoy the holidays by the seaside, in one of our many
gorgeous beaches. Obviously, this mood is also present at
Costa Verde and after a year full of difficulties, we feel
that luckily we can enjoy this summer break with a sense
of accomplishment. All of us, throughout the past 11
months of work, gave our very best so that Costa Verde
today, can enjoy a situation of relative stability, something which should be praised considering the current
climate of instability reigning in Portugal, and especially
in the South of Europe and even in the Euro Zone.

Welcome to the Olissippo Saldanha Hotel, the new unit of
the Olissippo Group.
The Olissippo Saldanha is the most recent 4 star hotel in

Costa Verde and its custom made Opera line were the company and product chosen to equip the Lisboa Prata Hotel
which is located in the city centre of Lisbon, the “Baixa
Pombalina”, and currently in a phase of soft-opening.
This charming boutique hotel is housed in an 18th century
building, deep within the downtown center, in the street
called “Rua da Prata”, number 116, in Lisbon.
The unit is characterized by its contemporary decoration

For over a century Rua da Prata street was called Rua Bela
da Rainha, in memory of the Queen, D. Mariana Vitória.
The current name dates back to 1910.
The silversmiths' stores were assigned to the Rua Bela da
Rainha during the distribution of the trades and craft
throughout the downtown streets, where presently booksellers standout among these stores, which were previously located near that neighborhood. The street name
was changed to Rua da Prata after the republican revolution in 1910.

A União Europeia trava concorrência desleal de cerâmica
chinesa.
A Europa viu finalmente consagradas as medidas que
tinham sido prometidas para travar a importação "desleal" de artigos de cerâmica de origem chinesa.
A indústria portuguesa de cerâmica considera que foi ganha
uma guerra, que já teve várias batalhas, em que sempre
pugnou pela defesa da produção nacional de cerâmica que durante vários anos enfrentou a concorrência desleal da
cerâmica chinesa importada pela União Europeia.
Finalmente chegou o veredicto que a indústria nacional
aguardava, ficando formalmente consagradas as medidas
definitivas sobre a importação de louça da China por
razões de concorrência desleal.
A Costa Verde congratula todos os agentes envolvidos
neste processo, esperando que os reflexos desta medida
se comecem a fazer sentir na carteira de encomendas da
industria nacional.

The European Union has finally put a stop to the disloyal
competition from Chinese porcelain and earthenware products.
The measures taken by Europe, which had been promised to
prevent the "disloyal" import of porcelain and earthenware
products of Chinese origin, have finally been consecrated.
The Portuguese porcelain and earthenware industry
considers that war won. A war that had seen many battles
and which always strived for the protection and defense of
the national porcelain and earthenware production, the
latter which has for several years faced a disloyal competition from the Chinese porcelain and earthenware industry
imported by the European Union.
But, at last, the verdict long awaited for by national
industry was issued, and it formally consecrates the
definitive measures in what concerns the import of
porcelain and earthenware products from China on the
grounds of disloyal competition.
Costa Verde congratulates all the agents involved in this
process, and hopes that the effects of this measure are
soon felt in new orders from old and new clients for
national porcelain and earthenware industry.

lança o selo "Ceramics – Portugal Does It Better" destinado a reconhecer a "excelência das empresas" no mercado.
O selo foi atribuído através de candidatura, tendo as
empresas concorrentes sido avaliadas por um comité
constituído por representantes da Universidade de
Aveiro, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, Centro
Tecnológico de Cerâmica e Vidro e do Centro de Formação
das Caldas da Rainha para a Indústria de Cerâmica.
A APICER pretende que a utilização deste selo seja um
forte argumento de estruturação da oferta no setor,

The Associação Portuguesa da Indústria da Cerâmica
(Portuguese Association of the Porcelain and Earthenware
Industry) announced the companies which have been
awarded the certification seal of the "Ceramics – Portugal
Does It Better" project, which intends to enhance the
Portuguese porcelain and earthenware production.
The Gold Seal was awarded to Costa Verde.
Costa Verde's investment in innovation and development
was thus acknowledged. APICER has launched the "Ceramics - Portugal Does It Better" seal, which aims to enhance
the Portuguese porcelain and earthenware production as
well as to acknowledge the "excellence of the companies"
operating in the market.
The seal is awarded upon submission of an application,
and the competing companies were evaluated by a
committee composed by representatives of the University
of Aveiro, the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, the
Technological Center of Porcelain, Earthenware and Glass
and the Vocational Center of Caldas da Rainha for the
Porcelain and Earthenware Industry.
It is APICER'S intention that the use of this seal constitutes a strong argument for the need of organization and
structure of the supply in this sector, enabling the focus on
the excellence of the product "made in Portugal".

António Rosado lidera a Ordem de Mérito do PGA Portugal
Tour de 2013 quando já se ultrapassou metade da época
do circuito profissional português, cujos troféus são
disponibilizados pela Costa Verde.
Depois de Hugo Santos ter triunfado no Open da Quinta
do Peru, Tó Rosado reagiu, com triunfos de rajada no
Optilink PGA Open, a 22 e 23 de Abril, no Onyria Palmares
Beach & Golf Resort, no Algarve, e no Liberty Seguros
PGA Open, a 6 e 7 de Junho, no Oceânico Victoria, o
campo de Vilamoura onde todos os anos se desenrola o
Portugal Masters.
Mais recentemente, a 8 e 9 de Julho, Hugo Santos
também somou novo título no Estoril PGA Open, mas,
mesmo assim, Rosado aguentou-se na frente da Ordem
de Mérito, com o mais velho dos famosos irmãos Santos a
surgir em 2º desta tabela.
No que diz respeito ao PGA Pro-Am Series, os torneios em
que os amadores têm o privilégio de jogar ao lado dos
profissionais, decorreram quatro etapas entre Fevereiro e
Julho.
Em Dezembro, todos os vencedores dos Pro-Am jogarão
uma Final no Pestana Golf Resort do Vale da Pinta,
Algarve.

António Rosado leads the Order of Merit of the PGA
Portugal Tour of 2013, at a time when we have more than
half the season of the Portuguese professional circuit
behind us. The trophies for this circuit are made by Costa
Verde.
Following Hugo Santos' triumph in the “Quinta do Peru”
Open, Tó Rosado responded, with straight victories in the
Optilink PGA Open, on April 22nd and 23rd, held at the
Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort, in the Algarve, and
in the Liberty Seguros PGA open, on June 6th and 7th, in
the Oceânico Victoria, the Vilamoura location where the
Portugal Masters is held every year.
Recently, on July 8th and 9th, Hugo Santos won a new
title in the Estoril PGA Open, but even so, Rosado held the
lead in the Order of Merit, with the eldest of the famous
Santos brothers coming in 2nd in this chart.
Four stages were held between February and July of the
PGA Pro-Am Series tournaments. The amateur players
have the privilege to play alongside professional players in
these stages.
In December, all the winners of the Pro-Am tournaments
shall play a Final, which will be held at the Pestana Golf
Resort in Vale da Pinta, Algarve.
A equipa escocesa Rolls Royce PLC foi a digna vencedora
da final mundial 2013 do World Golf Corporate Challenge.
Pela primeira vez na historia do evento, esta final foi
realizada na Escócia, em De Vere Cameron House e no The
Carrick, Loch Lomond, tendo recebido o apoio oficial do
Turismo da Escócia, do Scottish Development
International, do Loch Lomond e do Parque Nacional
Trossachs.
O World Golf Corporate Challenge é o maior torneio de
golfe corporate no mundo. A festejar o seu 20º aniversário, mais de um milhão de jogadores competiram oriundos de mais de 25 países, lutando assim por uma presença na Final Mundial.
Na presente final estiveram representados os seguintes
países. Austrália, Belize, Brasil, China, Colômbia, Costa
Rica, El Salvador, Inglaterra, Finlândia, Guatemala,
Índia, Irlanda, Itália, Ilhas Maurícias, México, Nova
Zelândia, Nigéria, Panamá, Portugal, Escócia, Espanha,
Suécia, Turquia e País de Gales.
A Costa Verde é entidade parceira desta competição,
tendo tido a seu cargo nas ultimas edições o fabrico e
fornecimento dos troféus das provas nacionais.

The Scottish Rolls Royce PLC team was the worthy winner
of the 2013 world final of the World Golf Corporate
Challenge.
For the first time in the history of the event, this final was
held in Scotland, at the De Vere Cameron House and at the
Carrick, in Loch Lomond, having received the official
support from the Scottish Tourist Board, the Scottish
Development International, the Loch Lomond and the
National Trossachs Park.
The World Golf Corporate Challenge is the biggest corporate golf tournament in the world. It is celebrating its
20th anniversary, and more than a million players, from
more than 25 countries, have competed for a place in the
World Final.
The following countries were present in this final:
Australia, Belize, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, El
Salvador, England, Finland, Guatemala, India, Ireland,
Italy, Mauritius, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Panama,
Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Wales.
Costa Verde is a partner company of this competition; it has
been in charge of manufacturing and supplying trophies for
the national competitions in the past few editions.

Foi esta a frase humana candidata ao livro do Guiness,
que ficou escrita no passado dia 30 de Junho, na praia da
Vagueira, onde foi construída com toalhas de praia e pessoas que as ocupavam, num total de 2.124 pessoas.
A praia da Vagueira, em Vagos, oferece momentos de
final de tarde, com tons e sons de pôr de sol, que consideramos serem únicos no mundo.
No entanto, os problemas ligados à erosão, numa zona litoral em que a costa é apenas formada por pequenas
dunas de areia branca e solta, continuam a preocuparnos a todos, como amantes e orgulhosos deste nosso património natural.
Daqui nasceu o projeto baseado em objetivos de preservação da natureza, consciencialização ambiental e proteção do cordão dunar da costa portuguesa e promovida
pela Perlimpimpim, espaço cultural sediado na praia da
Vagueira
Foi com muita boa disposição e muito orgulho que a
Costa Vede participou neste evento e contribuiu para
passar esta mensagem com 53 colaboradores a formarem
uma das letra, a letra N.
"The wounds of the earth are not healed with indifference!"
This was the humanitarian phrase which ran for the
Guinness World Records Book on June 30th this year,
which was written on the beach of Vagueira, spelled out
with beach towels and the 2.124 people who were occupying each one of them.
The beach of Vagueira, located in the city of Vagos, offers
moments of sights and sounds at sunset, that are in our
opinion unique in the world.
However, as proud lovers of our local natural heritage, we
all continue to worry about the problems pertaining to erosion, in a coastal area in which the shoreline is solely
formed by small dunes of white and loose sand.
This led to the birth of a project based on goals pertaining
to nature conservation, environmental awareness and protection of the sand dunes of the Portuguese coast. This project was promoted by “Perlimpimpim”, a cultural space located in the beach of Vagueira.
Costa Verde proudly participated in this cheerful and good
humored event, and contributed to spreading this message with 53 of their collaborators forming one of the letters, the letter N.
“Costa Verde a mexer” é um projeto liderado pela nossa
colaboradora Rita Almeida e que teve inicio este ano, e
cujo principal objetivo é o melhorar a qualidade de vida
no trabalho. Para isso a ginástica aliada ao trabalho
torna-se fundamental, actuando de forma preventiva e
terapêutica.
Num tempo em que se fala tanto em segurança no
trabalho, porque não remediar e prevenir as doenças
profissionais? Porque não proporcionar momentos de
relaxe aos nossos colaboradores?
A Costa Verde abraçou este projeto e desenvolveu-o para
oferecer aos seus colaboradores, o melhor. Inicialmente
numa fase experimental e neste momento já com duas
classes semanais onde os colaboradores tomam conhecimento do que podem fazer para ultrapassar aquelas dores
incómodas, podendo também libertar o stress e utilizá-lo
em atividade física, promovendo assim a melhoria da sua
saúde e cuidando de si.
As atividades diversificadas e o espirito de grupo criado
durante as atividades tem vindo a cativar os colaboradores e o grupo conta já com algumas dezenas de participantes.
Um projeto que vai continuar a animar a Costa Verde no
futuro! Keep moving!
"Costa Verde a Mexer" (Costa Verde on the move) is a
project headed by Rita Almeida, one of our collaborators.
This project began last year and its main purpose is to
improve the quality of life at the work place. Gymnastics
connected to work thus becomes fundamental, acting in a
preventive and therapeutic manner.
At a time when so much is discussed about safety in the
work place, why not try to resolve and prevent professional
illnesses? Why not provide moments of relaxation to our
collaborators?
Costa Verde has embraced this project and developed it, in
order to provide the very best to its collaborators. The
project had an initial experimental phase, and currently has
two weekly classes where collaborators are informed of what
they can do to overcome certain pains, and also be able to
release their accumulated stress and channel it to physical
activities, thus promoting the improvement of their health
and awareness of how to take care of themselves.
The diversified activities and the group spirit established
during those activities have been captivating an increasing number of collaborators and the group already has a
few dozen participating members.
A project which surely will keep on livening things up at
Costa Verde in the future! Keep moving!
A Costa Verde associou-se uma vez mais à corrida Bosch.
O Grupo Bosch em Portugal, em parceria com a
Universidade de Aveiro, a Câmara Municipal de Aveiro, a
Câmara Municipal de Ílhavo e a AIDA – Associação
Industrial do Distrito de Aveiro promoveu no dia 22 de
Junho de 2013, a Corrida Bosch.
Esta iniciativa tem como objetivo a angariação de fundos
para 3 instituições de Solidariedade Social, de mérito
reconhecido.
Com uma extensão de aproximadamente 10 km, a corrida
teve início no centro de Ílhavo, passando pelo centro de
Aveiro e terminando no Campus da Universidade de
Aveiro, existindo também uma caminhada na extensão
de 4 km com início e final no Edifício Central da Reitoria
da Universidade de Aveiro.
À semelhança da edição 2012, a Costa Verde fez-se
representar com diversos colaboradores na corrida e
caminhada.
Costa Verde teamed up with the Bosch race once again.
The Bosch Group in Portugal, in a partnership with the
University of Aveiro, the Aveiro Town Hall, the Ílhavo Town
Hall and AIDA (Associação Industrial do Distrito de Aveiro
- Industrial Association of the District of Aveiro) sponsored the Bosch Race on June 2nd, 2013.
This initiative aims at raising funds for 3 social solidarity
institutions, of recognized merit.
The race, with a route approximately 10 km long, began in
the city center of Ílhavo, passing though the city center of
Aveiro, and ended on the campus of the University of
Aveiro. It also included a 4 km long walk that began and
ended at the Main Building of the Chancellor's Office of the
University of Aveiro.
As in the 2012 edition, Costa Verde was represented in
these events by various collaborators, both in the race and
in the walk.

A curta metragem TORRES produzida pela Cimbalino
Filmes e realizada por André Guiomar teve a sua estreia
no ultimo Festival de Curtas de Vila do Conde, tendo sido
selecionada para a competição nacional.
Sinopse: Na transição entre a adolescência e a idade
adulta, a identidade modela-se às vontades. No tempo em
que a sociedade cresce em altura, a terra é difícil de pisar.
Costa Verde presente também na cultura e num cinema
perto de si.
Costa Verde has collaborated in the production of the short
feature film called 'Torres' by loaning its facilities.
The short feature 'TORRES' was produced by Cimbalino
Filmes and directed by André Guiomar and premiered in
the last Short Features Festival of Vila do Conde, having
been selected for the national film competition.
Synopsis: In the transition from adolescence to adult age,
identity is shaped according to wills. In a time where
society grows in height, it is hard to step on land.
Costa Verde: a brand present in the cultural world and in a
cinema near you.
