Opening
The meeting officially started at 9:15am, and was led by Mrs. Heidy Gonzalez¸ committee
representative. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
II.
Welcome and Introductions
Mrs. Gonzalez introduced administrators and staff present, and mentioned ELD teachers and
guidance counselors.
III.
Minutes
The minutes for the meeting of September were distributed, and the parents reviewed them. The
minutes were approved by:

IV.
Committee Report
School Site Council
Mrs. Heidy Gonzalez gave a report for the last SSC meeting at CHHS. On October 15th UCR awarded
the prize MESA to Citrus Hill, which is based on how our school prepares students for programs in
engineering, science, and mathematics. Citrus Hill will also receive the Golden Bell Award granted by
the state of California. This award was received based on our program “Aquaponics”. The school
received a prize of $13,000 for the highest level of attendance last school year. This money will be used
to reward students that are doing a good job with movie tickets. The Academic Performance Index API – dropped two points this year.
DELAC
Mrs. Luz Martinez-Cortez gave a summary for the last DELAC meeting. DELAC is a committee for
parents of EL students at the district level, each school sends its representative to share information.
The CELDT test measures the development of English language in students whose primary language is
not English. The district has a new program in Spanish for discipline techniques called “Amor y Lógica”;
this program is free and parents are given a Parent Handbook.
V.
Departmental Information
ELD
Ms. Cullivan gave information about the EL program. This week we will finish implementing the CELDT
test for students who did not take it during the summer. After the second grading period, we will have
conferences with parents and students that have 3 or more Fs in their grades. Power-Up students will
visit ITT Tech on October 25th.

VI.
Administration Information
Guidance Department
Mr. Randall informed parents that now he is in charge of the Guidance Department. The counselors
are helping 12th grade students complete UC & CSU applications, since the deadline for registration is
November 30. The counselors had a meeting with 9th grade students to give them information about
classes and graduation requirements. Edmodo is a new program for students to be in touch with their
counselors and ask them for academic support. It is a graduation requirement to complete 40 hours of
community service and pass the CAHSEE exam. Grade 12 students will take this exam on November 5 th
and 6th.
Intervention Department
Dr. Macaraeg, assistant principal, announced that she will be responsible for the EL department. She
also introduced the new assistant principal, Mr. Garrick Owen, who will be in charge of discipline,
attendance, and DSAs.
Deputy Roger Doyle then gave a presentation about marijuana; he talked about signs, symptoms,
ways to consume it, etc. He showed how students can make paraphernalia to consume it, and how
marijuana looks when is dry and ready to use. Parents receive a brochure with all these information.
Principal’s Office
Mr. Cabral said our goal for this school year is to increase attendance by 1%. Last year we received
again a prize of $13,000 for having the best attendance in the district. This is the second year that
CHHS receives this award. This money will be used every week to reward students with movie tickets.
Citrus Hill High School received the MESA award issued by UCR. Citrus Hill will also receive the Golden
Bell Award granted by the state of California.
VII.
Future Events
Mrs. Terriquez talked about important upcoming events:
o Next ELAC meeting will be on Thursday, November 21st at 5pm. Also on this day we will be
having the annual ELAC Thanksgiving banquet.
o Next DELAC meeting will be on Friday, October 18 th at 9am at the District Office.
o Next SSC meeting will be on Monday, October 28th at 1pm.
o Tomorrow Friday, October 18th CHHS will be hosting a Football game, and on Saturday,
October 19th a festival, both events for Homecoming celebration.
o On October 28th and 29th we will have midterm exams and students will be dismissed at
12:05pm.
o There is no school on Monday, November 11th.
VIII.
Office Hours
We continue to provide assistance to parents every Monday from 10am to 12pm at the Parents
Resource Center.
IX.
Additional Information
Mrs. Murillo told parents that there will be a fundraiser for Manuel L. Real elementary at McDonald’s
today from 4pm to 7pm. Mrs. Patiño informed about a citizenship workshop.
