After the success of this Festival’s first edition
in 2006 we think that this event must continue in the
pursuit of its aims in order to achieve more and more,
an excellent artistic level and an effective answer from
the Portuguese audience, gaining maturity and visibility.
This 2nd edition keeps the intention to speed up the
approach between the Musical/Performing Arts
Institutions with superior degree from all the

The HARMOS Festival intends to be a chance
to see young musicians of great talent who will be,
without a doubt, the reference interpreters of the
future. This festival will still create a site in the Internet
that will allow the communication between all the

carreira dos participantes e fornecendo informações importantes ao nível da formação nas diversas instituições representadas neste evento. Acreditamos assim
que o HARMOS Festival ganha consistência e relevância no contributo que pretende dar a todos. O Festival não durará apenas uma semana mas sim todo o ano.

A Academia de Música e Teatro da Lituânia é uma universidade estatal de educação
superior, que forma profissionais altamente qualificados nas áreas da música, teatro e artes
multimédia.
As origens da Academia remontam a 1919. Desde Janeiro de 2006 frequentam a
Academia 1168 alunos com um corpo docente de 271 professores.
O verdadeiro rosto da Academia é a sua actividade artística quer com os seus alunos
quer com os seus professores, incluindo cerca de 400 concertos por ano: a participação de
alunos em orquestras nacionais e internacionais, concertos internacionais, performances,
festivais, concursos, conferências e eventos internacionais organizados pela Academia.
A Academia colabora com mais de 60 parceiros na Europa. Essa colaboração baseiase em actividades educativas de curta duração como: intercâmbios de professores e alunos,
eventos culturais e actividades de investigação. Estas actividades são apoiadas quer ao nível
nacional quer ao nível regional (Báltico, Báltico/Nórdico), por programas europeus
(Socrates/Erasmus, Socrates/Grundtvig2, Media Training, Cultura 2000, Leonardo Da Vinci,
eContent etc.), fundos e programas académicos europeus, projectos das embaixadas
financiados quer por países europeus quer de outros, pelas suas missões diplomáticas na
lituânia e por programas transnacionais (UNESCO, Japanese Cultural Grant Aid, USA Fulbright).
A maioria dos intercâmbios de professores e alunos são organizados pelo programa
Sócrates/Erasmus.
Os projectos internacionais mais importantes organizados pela Academia foram:
Masterclasse Inetrnacional de Verão para jovens cantores de ópera e instrumentistas de
orquestra The Magic Flute in Nida (1998 com o apoio da embaixada da Áustria), EC
Socrates/Erasmus IP projectos – Curso de Direcção Erasmus (2000, 2001 e 2002), “International
workshop for film schools Summer video studio” (2001, 2002 and 2003), e “Inter-arts workshop
We make an Opera” (2004), e o anual EC Media Training projecto “Summer MEDIA Studio”
(desde 2004).
A Academia participa ou participou como parceira em vários projectos europeus como:
Socrates/Erasmus Thematic Network Projects (Polyphonia, Inter-artes), eContent projecto
HARMOS e VARIAZIONI, Cultura 2000 projecto Integra, entre outros.
A Academia é membro das seguintes associações internacionais: Associação Europeia
de Conservatórios, Liga Europeia de Institutos das Artes, Associação Báltica das Academias
de Música, entre outras.

Quarteto de Cordas ”ART VIO”
Os membros do “Art Vio”, um jovem e ambicioso Quarteto de Cordas, são graduados
da Academia Lituana de Música e Teatro: Ingrida Rupaite (Violino I), Kristijonas Venslovas
(Violino II), Tomas Petrikis (Viola), e Povilas Jacunskas (Violoncelo). O grupo foi formado em
Vilnius, em 2003 e desde o seu começo esteve envolvido em concertos, criando-se assim
um vasto e colorido repertório. O cunho deste quarteto é a diversidade estilística; o quarteto
interpreta um reportório muito abrangente – desde obras-primas clássicas a composições
contemporâneas. O reportório deste ensemble combina obras de Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang
The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre is a university
type state institution of higher education, which trains highly
qualified professionals in music, theatre, and multimedia arts.
The origins of the Academy go back to 1919. As of January
1, 2006 there are 1168 students at the Academy with a
teaching staff of 271.
The true face of the Academy is the artistic activity by both
students and professors including over 400 concerts per
year; students’ participation in national and international
orchestras, international concerts, performances, competitions,
and festivals; competitions, conferences and international
events organized by the Academy.
The Academy cooperates with more than 60 partners in
Europe. Cooperation is based on short-term educational
activities, academic staff and student exchanges, cultural
events, internships, and research activities. These activities
are supported at national and regional levels (Baltic,
Nordic/Baltic), by European programmes (Socrates/Erasmus,
Socrates/Grundtvig2, Media Training, Culture 2000, Leonardo
Da Vinci, eContent etc.), European funds and academic
programmes, embassy projects offered by governments of
European and other countries, their diplomatic missions in
Lithuania, and transnational programmes (UNESCO, Japanese
Cultural Grant Aid, USA Fulbright). The major student and
teacher exchanges are organised through the EU
Socrates/Erasmus programme.
The most important international projects organised by
the Academy have been: international summer master class
for young opera singers and orchestra performers The Magic
Flute in Nida (1998 with a support of the Austrian Embassy),
EC Socrates/Erasmus IP projects – ERASMUS Conducting
Course (2000, 2001 and 2002), “International workshop for
film schools Summer video studio” (2001, 2002 and 2003),
and “Inter-arts workshop We make an Opera” (2004), and
annual EC Media Training project “Summer MEDIA Studio”
(since 2004). Academy participates/has participated as a
partner in various European projects, such as

The LMTA is a member of the international associations
- the AEC (Association Europeenne des Conservatoires), the
ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), the ABAM
(Association of the Baltic Academies of Music), and some
others.
_ String Quartet ”ART VIO”
The members of young and ambitious string quartet ART
VIO are graduates of Lithuanian Academy of Music and
Theatre: Ingrida Rupaite (Violin I), Kristijonas Venslovas (Violin
II), Tomas Petrikis (Viola), and Povilas Jacunskas (Cello). The
ensemble was established in year 2003 in Vilnius, and from
the very beginning was involved into dense concert activities,
thus establishing broad and colourful repertoire. Credo of the
quartet is stylistic diversity; ensemble performs a broad
spectrum of music – from classical masterpieces to
contemporary compositions. Repertoire of ensemble matches
works of Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig
van Beethoven, Edvardo Grieg or Maurice’o Ravelio with
works of Lithuanian composers – Mikalojus Konstantinas
Ciurlionis, Juozas Naujalis, Eduardas Balsys, Osvaldas
Balakauskas, Juozas Sirvinskas, Anatolijus Senderovas and
others.
In year 2003 Art Vio became a price winner in National
competition for chamber ensembles in Vilnius. In 2004
ensemble participated in International competition for chamber
ensembles in Kuhmo, Finland. Several years quartet
participated in master classes in International Summer
Academy Prag-Wien-Budapest in Reichenau, Austria, led by
members of famous Amadeus, Artis, Bartók, Hagen, Janácek,
Smetana, and other quartets.
Art Vio actively performs Lithuanian music. One of important
concert programmes was performed in Berlin, Germany, in
the concert dedicated to the memory of famous Lithuanian
and German composers and painters, which was organised
by famous German composer and musician Kurt Dietmar.
This performance was highly acclaimed by the public.
In year 2005 Art Vio was honoured to participate in the
concert, which was held during the visit of the President of
the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to the Kingdom
of Spain, in Royal Palace, in the honour of King Juan Carlos
I and Queen Sofia. In 2006 quartet participated in Gizycko
international chamber and organ music festival in Poland.
In year 2007 string quartet Art Vio published it’s first CD
with the works of Lithuanian composers E. Balsys, A.
Senderovas, and J. Sirvinskas.
_ Ingrida RUPAITE (violin)
Was born in 1979, Vilnius. She studied violin with prof.
Jonas Urba at the National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts
and Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. At the very
beginning of her studies she became a prizewinner of national
Domas Svirskis competition for young performers and
international chamber ensembles competition in Pavia (Italy),
and also started to actively participate in concert activities.
She performed with Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra as a
soloist. In year 2001 she was invited to play first violin in
Kaunas State String Quartet. Ingrida Rupaite successfully
performed with this ensemble in main festivals in Lithuania,
had concerts with famous Lithuanian and foreign musicians.
Since 2003 she is one of leading members of St. Christopher
Chamber Orchestra.
_ Kristijonas VENSLOVAS (violin)
Was born in 1980, Kaunas. Started to play violin from age
of 5. He graduated in the class of the teacher Vl. Varcikas
at Kaunas J. Naujalis Music Gymnasium in year 1998.
Afterwards he continued his studies at the Lithuanian Academy
of Music and Theatre with prof. J. Dvarionas. During his
studies Kristijonas Venslovas actively participated in
international orchestra sessions (Odense – 2000, 2000 and
2001 – Pomersfelden, 2002 – Bachakademie), various master
classes for chamber ensembles and string quartet (2000,
2001 – Pomersfelden, 2005 – Reichenau), violin master
classes of A. Fisher. He became a prizewinner of national
competitions for chamber music in 1999 (E. Balsys Chamber
Music Competition) and 2002 (String Quartet Competition).
Since 2002 he is a member of St. Christopher chamber
orchestra.
_ Tomas PETRIKIS (viola)
Was born in 1977, Kaunas. He graduated in the class of
the teacher Z. Miseikiene at Kaunas J. Naujalis Music
Gymnasium. In 1995 he became a prizewinner of a National
Competition for Young Performers. Tomas Petrikis studied
viola in Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof.
Petras Radzevicius. He is actively participating in various
international chamber music projects, including Zeist Daniel
Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Edvard Grieg ou Maurice Ravel a par de obras de
compositores lituanos – Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis, Juozas Naujalis, Eduardas Balsys,
Osvaldas Balakauskas, Juozas Sirvinskas, Anatolijus Senderovas, entre outros.
Em 2003, o “Art Vio” foi vencedor de um Prémio na Competição Nacional de Música
de Câmara em Vilnius. Em 2004 o grupo participou na Competição Internacional de Música
de Câmara em Kuhmo, na Finlândia. Este quarteto, com vários anos de existência, participou
nas masterclasses na Academia Internacional de Verão Prag-Wien-Budapest em Reichenau,
Áustria, conduzida por membros dos quartetos como o Amadeus, Artis, Bartók, Hagen,
Janácek, Smetana.
O “Art Vio” é um quarteto composto por entusiastas intérpretes da música lituana. Um
dos seus programas mais importantes foi executado em Berlim, na Alemanha, no concerto
em memória de alguns compositores e pintores lituanos e alemães, organizado pelo compositor
e músico alemão Kurt Dietmar. Este evento foi altamente aclamado pelo público.
Em 2005, o “Art Vio” teve a honra de participar no concerto em Espanha, que ocorreu
durante a visita do Presidente da República da Lituânia, Valdas Adamkus, ao Palácio Real,
em honra dos soberanos Rei Juan Carlos I e Rainha Sofia. Em 2006 este quarteto participou
no Festival Internacional de Música de Câmara e Órgão, em Gizycko, Polónia.
Em 2007 o quarteto de cordas “Art Vio” publicou o seu primeiro disco com obras de
compositores lituanos, designadamente, E. Balsys, A. Senderovas, e J. Sirvinskas

Ingrida RUPAITE (violino)
Nasceu em 1979, em Vilnius. Estudou violino com o prof. Jonas Urba na National
M.K.Ciurlionis School of Arts e na Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. No início dos
seus estudos venceu o prémio do concurso nacional Domas Svirskis para jovens músicos
e o concurso internacional de grupos de câmara em Pavia (Itália) e começou ainda a participar
activamente em concertos. Apresentou-se como solista com a Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.
Em 2001 foi convidada a ser o primeiro violino do Kaunas State String Quartet. Ingrida Rupaite
integrou este quarteto, com sucesso, em vários importantes Festivais na Lituânia e realizou
concertos com músicos lituanos e estrangeiros de renome. Desde 2003 é um dos líderes
da St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra.

Kristijonas VENSLOVAS (violino)
Nasceu em 1980, em Kaunas. Começou a estudar violino aos 5 anos de idade. Graduouse na classe do professor Vl. Varcikas no Kaunas J. Naujalis Music Gymnasium, em 1998.
Continuou os seus estudos na Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre com o professor
J. Dvarionas. Durante os seus estudos Kristijonas Venslovas participou activamente em
estágios internacionais de orquestra (Odense – 2000, 2000 e 2001 – Pomersfelden, 2002 –
Bachakademie), masterclasses para agrupamentos de câmara e quartetos de cordas (2000,
2001 – Pomersfelden, 2005 – Reichenau) e masterclasses de violino com A. Fisher. Venceu
diversos concursos nacionais de música de câmara em 1999 (E. Balsys Chamber Music
Competition) e 2002 (String Quartet Competition). Desde 2002 é membro da St. Christopher
chamber orchestra.

Tomas PETRIKIS (viola)
Nasceu em 1977, em Kaunas. Graduou-se na classe do professor Z. Miseikiene no

músicos. Tomas Petrikis estudou viola na Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre com o
professor Petras Radzevicius. Participa activamente em diversos projectos internacionais de
música de câmara, incluindo masterclasses e cursos de música de câmara com o Zeist Daniel
Quartet (Holanda), Prof. Dubinsky, J. Wallnig e o “Chilingirian” quartet. É membro da St.
Christopher Chamber Orchestra e integra o Quarteto ”ArtVio” desde 2005.

Povilas JACUNSKAS (violoncelo)
Nasceu em 1983, em Vilnius. De 1988 a 2001, estudou violoncelo com o professor A.
Palsauskas na National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts. De 2001 a 2004, estudou com o
professor S. Sondeckiene na Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Desde 2004, estuda
com E. Kulikauskas. Em 2006 concluiu o seu bacharelato e continua agora os seus estudos
de pós-graduação na mesma escola. Foi vencedor de vários prémios – nacionais e internacionais
– como solista e integrado em agrupamentos de câmara. Em 2004 venceu o 1º prémio e um
prémio especial – pela interpretação de uma obra de J.S. Bach no 3º K. Davidov International
Cello Competition.
Participou em masterclasses com alguns dos mais conceituados violoncelistas da
actualidade como David Geringas, Reinhard Latzko, Laszlo Mezo, Frans Helmerson e Yo-Yo
Ma. Como solista tocou com a Latvian National Symphony, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra
(dirigida por S. Sondeckis), St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra (dirigida por D. Katkus),
Kaunas Chamber Orchestra (dirigida por P. Berman) and National M. K. Ciurlionis School of
Arts Chamber Orchestra (dirigida por P. Stepanovas).
É membro da Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra desde 2006.
Povilas Jacunkas é um participante activo no panorama musical lituano não apenas
como solista mas também como músico de câmara. Actuou na Áustria, Croácia, Finlândia,
França, Alemanha, Holanda, Letónia, Portugal, Rússia, Suécia entre outros países da Europa,
bem como os EUA. É membro do quarteto ArtVio desde a sua fundação, em 2003, procurando,
com sucesso, uma carreira como músico de câmara assim como os seus colegas.

_ Povilas JACUNSKAS (cello)
Was born in 1983, Vilnius. From 1988 to 2001, he studied
cello with the teacher A. Palsauskas at the National M. K.
Ciurlionis School of Arts. From 2001 to 2004, he was studying
cello with prof. S. Sondeckiene at the Lithuanian Academy
of Music and Theatre. From 2004 he is student of E.
Kulikauskas. In year 2006 Povilas Jacunskas received bachelor
degree diploma and continues his master degree studies at
Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Povilas Jacunskas
is prizewinner of numerous national and international
competitions as solo cellist and chamber musician. In 2004
Povilas Jacunskas won the 1st prize and a special prize - for
the interpretation of an opus by J. S. Bach at the 3rd K.
Davidov International Cello Competition.
Povilas Jacunskas has participated in master classes of
most famous contemporary cellists, including David Geringas,
Reinhard Latzko, Laszlo Mezo, Frans Helmerson, and Yo-Yo
Ma. Povilas Jacunskas has given solo concerts together with
the Latvian National Symphony, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra
(conductor Prof. S. Sondeckis), St. Christopher Chamber
(conductor Prof. D. Katkus), Kaunas Chamber (conductor P.
Berman) and National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts Chamber
(conductor P. Stepanovas) orchestras. From 2006 Povilas
Jacunskas is a member of Lithuanian State Symphony
Orchestra.
Povilas Jacunskas has been actively participating in the
Lithuanian music scene not only as a soloist, but also as a
performer of chamber music. He has given concerts in Austria,
Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Latvia, Portugal,
Russia, Sweden and other countries of Europe, as well as
USA. Povilas Jacunskas is a member of string quartet “Art
Vio” from it’s establishing in 2003, successfully pursuing a
career of chamber musician together with his colleagues.

The concerts are an essential activity of the Superior School
of Music Queen Sofia, since one of the major aims of this
institution is from its beginning, encouraging its pupils’ artistic
projection. This can be accomplished by their liaison with the
real world of the music: this universe including the stage, the
lightning and the public possesses a magic that can stimulate
the artist and gives him a sense of satisfaction. At the same
time, this method turns out to be much more demanding
than the most rigorous examination. The Queen Sofia School
sees this project as an extension of the classroom and it
conceives these concerts as a meeting point in which three
strengths converge: the learning process with the teacher,
the talent of the pupil and the spectator receptiveness. From
the conjunction of these three forces it will arise, the miracle
of the sonorous art.
The School of Music Queen Sofia is the most important
program of the Foundation Albéniz, an institution that has its
origin in the work of its president, Paloma O'Shea, the one
who has been contributing to the promotion of the young
musicians since, 1972, when its first edition took place in the
I n t e r n a t i o n a l P i a n o C o m p e t i t i o n a t S a n t a n d e r.
The pedagogic formula of this centre aims for is the
achievement of the highest standards and the constant search
for excellence. This school combines the personalized and
rigorous education, to the best teachers of every speciality
— who have total teaching autonomy — along with the more
distinguished students. The instrumental range is diverse and
it gathers up to the moment, piano, violin, guitar, cello, double
bass, oboe, horn, singing, chamber music and orchestra, in
addition to academic and complementary classes, and
languages.
The collaboration between the official bodies and the civic
and social organizations is one of the identities of the
Foundation Albéniz. Therefore, this school gathers charity
supporters like important personalities of the public
administration and of the private sector, under the Honorary
Presidency of Queen Sofia of Spain. The empowerment of
this title on the school name, represents for this institution a
pride, but also a special commitment in the pursue of high
standards while fulfilling the School’s targets.
_ Francisco CORUJO (tenor)
Francisco was born in Las Palmas, Spain, in 1980. He
initiated his musical studies in the Superior Conservatory of
Music of the Canary Islands, with the soprano Mª Célida
Alzola. He continued his education with Maria Orán and in
2004 obtained the Professional Diploma of Music.
Since the academic year of 2005-2006 he studies with
Tom Krause, in the “Alfredo Kraus “ singing class, of the
Music Superior School of Queen Sofia of the Fundation
Ramón Areces. He awarded a scholarship by the Fundación
Albéniz. As a student of this School, he participated in the
Music Meeting of the Academy of Santander 2006 and in
the masterclasses by Ilona Tokody. He also participated in
courses of vocal technique and interpretation with Carmen
Bustamante, Helena Lazarska, Vera Mawlev, Marimí del Pozo
and María Orán.
Later he obtained the second regional singing prize of Caja

uma vez que um dos principais objectivos desta instituição é, desde a sua fundação, o
fomento da projecção artística dos seus alunos, promovendo o contacto com o mundo real
da música: esse universo de palcos, focos e público, transmite uma magia ao artista que o
estimula, dando-lhe satisfação. Este tipo de desafio é ao mesmo tempo mais exigente,
funcionando como um exame mais rigoroso das capacidades dos alunos. A Escuela Superior
de Música Reina Sofía vê, através deste método, um prolongamento da aula e concebe estes
concertos como um ponto de encontro em que coincidem três vectores de força: o ensino
do professor, o talento do aluno e a receptividade do espectador. Da conjunção destas três
sinergias resulta, nestas noites, o milagre da arte sonora.
A Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía é o projecto mais importante da Fundação
Albéniz, uma Instituição que tem origem no trabalho da sua Presidente, Paloma O‘Shea, que
tem contribuído para a promoção de jovens músicos desde que, em 1972, organizou a
primeira edição do Concurso Internacional de Piano de Santander.
A fórmula pedagógica que rege este centro de alto aperfeiçoamento é nada mais que
a procura da excelência. Aos melhores professores de cada especialidade – a quem é atribuída
total liberdade no ensino – reúnem-se os alunos que mais se destacaram, num ambiente de

Francisco CORUJO (tenor)
Nasceu em Las Palmas, Espanha, em 1980. Iniciou os seus estudos musicais no
Conservatório Superior de Música das Canárias, com a soprano Mª Célida Alzola. Continuou
a sua formação com Maria Orán e em 2004 obteve o Diploma Profissional de Música de grau
médio.
Desde o ano lectivo de 2005/2006 é aluno da Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía,
na Classe de Canto “Alfredo Kraus” da Fundación Ramón Areces, do professor Tom Krause,
titular da referida classe. É bolseiro da Fundación Albéniz. Como aluno desta escola participou
no Encontro de Música da Academia de Santander 2006 e em masterclasses de Ilona Tokody.
Participou ainda em cursos de técnica vocal e interpretação com Carmen Bustamante,
Helena Lazarska, Vera Mawlev, Marimí del Pozo e María Orán.
Obteve o segundo prémio regional de canto de Caja Canárias, o primeiro prémio no
Concurso Internacional de canto de Sitges e o terceiro prémio no Concurso Internacional de

Canto Villa de Colmenar em Fevereiro de 2006. Em Janeiro de 2007 arrecadou o segundo
prémio no Concurso Internacional de Canto Francesc Viñas.
Interpretou os papéis de Beppe da ópera “Rita” e Nemorino no “L’Elisir d’amore” de
Donizetti, Tony em “West Side Story” de L. Bernstein e Mujatar na estreia mundial da ópera
“El moro de la patera” de Lothar Siemens. No campo da oratória interpretou o tenor de Davide
Penitente de Mozart e o papel de Pilatos na “Paixão Segundo S. João” de Arvo Pärt.
Apresentou-se ainda em numerosos recitais e galas, tanto de ópera e zarzuela como de Lied
e música espanhola em Espanha e México.
Cantou com as Orquestras Sinfónicas de Tenerife, da ilha de La Palma e Valência, assim
como com a Orquesta de Câmara de Santa Cruz.
Participou na primeira gravação Mundial da obra “Minue de los Aires”, do compositor
Luis Coviella.

Madalit LAMAZARES (piano)
Nasceu em Havana, Cuba, onde iniciou os seus estudos musicais. Posteriormente
mudou-se para a Venezuela e obteve o título de Professora de Piano do Conservatório Juan
Manuel Olivares de Caracas. Desde o ano lectivo 2000/2001 é Professora Pianista
Acompanhadora da Classe de Canto “Alfredo Kraus” da Fundación Ramón Areces na Escuela
Superior de Música Reina Sofía, onde trabalhou com Teresa Berganza, professora titular da
classe de canto entre 1999 e 2002, com Manuel Cid e Tom Krause, actual professor titular
da referida classe.
Como professora desta escola participou em diversos concertos em Madrid, nas
Fundações Lázaro Galdiano e Caja Madrid, nos Palácios Zurbano e Marquês de Salamanca,
Teatro Real, Auditório Nacional de Música de Madrid, Academia de Belas Artes, Museu do
Prado, assim como em diversos auditórios da Corunha, Santander, Tenerife, León, Vitoria,
Córdoba e nas embaixadas espanholas em Haia (Holanda) e Washington (EUA). Destacamse ainda diversas gravações em CD, para a Sony e para a Rádio Clássica da RNE.
Desempenhou as funções de pianista correpetidora e professora de reportório no Estúdio
de Ópera de Caracas, Teatro Teresa Carreño, Conservatorio Simón Bolívar e posteriormente
em Buenos Aires, contratada pelo Teatro Avenida como Directora Musical. Recentemente
foi convidada, pela Fundação Beracasa, para participar no Festival da Rádio França na cidade
de Montpellier (França).
Canarias, the first prize in the International Singing Contest
of Sitges and the third prize in the International Singing
Contest Villa de Colmenar in February of 2006. In January
of 2007 he received the second prize in the International
Singing Contest of Francesc Viñas.
Performed Beppe's character on the opera “ Rita “ and
Nemorino in the “ L'Elisir d'amore ” of Donizetti, Tony in “
West Side Story ” of L. Bernstein and Mujatar in the premiere
of the opera “ “El moro de la patera” of Lothar Siemens. In
the oratory field he interpreted the tenor from Mozart’s David

of Music of Madrid, at the Academia de Belas Artes, at Museu

the Spanish embassies in Hague (Holland) and Washington
(USA). We point out several recordings in CDs, for SONY

Carreño, Conservatory Simón Bolívar and later in Buenos
Aires, employed by the Theatre Avenue as its Musical Director.
Recently she was invited, by the Foundation Beracasa, to
participate in the Radio Festival of France in the city of
Montpellier (France).

A École Normale de Musique de Paris - Alfred Cortot foi fundada em 1919 pelo famoso
pianista Alfred Cortot e pelo seu parceiro Auguste Mangeot. Desde o início, a instituição goza
de uma reputação a nível mundial, pela seu alto padrão de instrução musical, ministrada por
excelentes professores tais como Pablo Casals, Nadia Boulanger, Wanda Landowska, Paul
Dukas, Arthur Honegger, entre outros. Esta escola preparou também um número conhecidos
concertistas e compositores. Dinu Lipatti, Samson François, Igor Markevitch... entre muitas
outras celebridades que estudaram neste templo parisiense de música clássica.
Esta instituição é hoje reconhecida pelo Estado (Ministério da Cultura e da Comunicação)
e dirigida por Henri Heugel a par de um "Conselho de Orientação Musical" composto de
Paul Badura Skoda, Narcis Bonet, Elliott Carter, Jean-Michel Damase, Christian Ivaldi, David
Lively, Jean-Louis Mansart, Kent Nagano.
A École Normale de Musique de Paris - Alfred Cortot reúne cerca de 1200 estudantes
e 120 professores que leccionam todas as disciplinas de música clássica, inclusive classes
teóricas, classes de direcção de orquestra e composição.
O objectivo principal da escola é ensinar e consagrar músicos. Consequentemente, o
nível técnico a atingir é só uma parte do currículo que cobre todas as outras competências
necessárias para produzir um artista genuíno.

Guillaume MATHIAS (piano)
Guillaume Mathias nasceu em Paris em 1979 onde desenvolveu os seus estudos
musicais nas aulas de Jacques Lagarde na Escola Alfred Cortot, Marie-Paule Siruguet e
Hortense Cartier-Bresson no CNR Boulogne-Billancourt. A obtenção de uma bolsa do governo
francês (Lavoisier) permitiu-lhe aperfeiçoar-se junto de Nagy Peter na Academia Liszt de
Budapeste, na Hungria. Mais tarde, frequenta com regularidade, as masterclasses ministradas
por Fabio Bidini, Leslie Howard, Akiko Ebi, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Roger Muraro, Tujia
Hakkila, Henri Barda, Florent Boffard ou Gérard Fremy.
Paralelamente, Guillaume prossegue uma actividade sustentada de música de câmara,
particularmente com violonistas como Pedra Colombet (Quarteto Ebene), Michaela Georgi
e Nathalie Shaw.
Apresentou-se com orquestra no primeiro concerto de Chostakovich, na sala Cortot

The Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris was founded in
1919 by the famous pianist Alfred Cortot and his partner
Auguste Mangeot. From the very beginning, the institution
has enjoyed a world-wide reputation for the quality of its
music instruction with such faculty members as Pablo Casals,

Guillaume Mathias was born in 1979 in Paris, where later

International de l'Eurorégion, no concurso do Centenário dos Pianos Yamaha e é laureado
no concurso "Internacional Keyboard Institute and Festival" em Nova Iorque.

of piano and chamber music of Blonay in Switzerland. He
will also perform in Chile in January 2008. Guillaume Mathias
obtains the first awarded prices at the international contest
of Eurorégion, at the contest of the Centenary of the Yamaha
pianos, and is nominated prize winner of the contest
"International Keyboard Institute and Festival" in New York.

Born in 1982, in South Korea. She studied at CNSM of
Paris in Sylvie Gazeau’s class where she obtained, in 2005,
her superior degree.
Passionated by chamber music, she performs often as
soloist and along with the Korea Orchestra, in Taiwan, Turkey,

Guannan SU (viola)
Guannan Su nasceu a 13 Janeiro de 1983 em Lanzhou, uma pequena vila a oeste da
China. Guannan Su começou os seus estudos musicais no seu país natal, a partir do ano
1989, antes de atingir os 16 anos. Aos 17 anos viajou sozinho para Pequim com a finalidade
de perseguir o seu sonho de aprender a tocar viola. Em 2001, foi aceite pelo Conservatório
de Música de Tianjin para o estudo em alto. Desde 2005 faz a sua aprendizagem em França
sob a direcção de Pedra-Henri Xuereb, Professor de C.N.S.M. de Paris.

Nasceu em Seoul. Começou a estudar violoncelo na Coreia do Sul tendo, mais tarde,
estudado em Darmstadt, na Alemanha com Mario de Secondi e M. von Erffa. Em França,
desde 2003, estuda na École Normale de Paris na classe da professora Teulières tendo
obtido, em 2006, o diploma superior de “Exécution” em violoncelo. Actualmente, encontrase a preparar o diploma Superior de Concertista em violoncelo e o Diploma Superior de

Born on the 13th January 1983 in Lanzhou, a village in
the west of China, SU Guannan began his musical studies
in the year 1989, just before he reached the age of 16, in his
home country. At the age of 17 he went alone to Beijin in
order to fulfil his dream, to learning how to play the Viola. In
2001 he was accepted by the Music Academy of of Tianjin
for the study of alto. Since 2005 he develops his training in
France under the direction of Pierre-Henri Xuereb, Professor
of C.N.S.M. of Paris.
_ Jae Young LIM (cello)
Born in Seoul. She started her cello studies in South Korea
and then studied in Darmstadt (Germany) with Mario de

The State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart
The oldest music university of Baden-Wuttemberg was
founded as the Music School of Stuttgart in the year 1857.
Already by 1865 it was renamed Conservatory of Music. By
then it had become both an institution for training professional
musicians as well as a music school in the form of the socalled dilettantenklasse (Amateurs Class). It was not until
1921 that the two branches were separated. Under its new
name, Music University of Wuttemberg it became evident
that its concentration was in the professional disciplines.
Despite the two name changes the University of Music
Stuttgart was distinguished from the very beginning by the
continuity of its pedagogical work. Since the beginning of
the 19th century the Stuttgart Conservatory has also been
a training facility for actors.
Consequently the university received its present name of
State University of Music and Performing Arts in 1963. About
770 students from more than 40 countries study at the State
University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart today, and
make use the outstanding artistic and spatial possibilities.
The traditionally very strong department of Kirchenmusik
(Church Music) was further developed under the directorship
of Professor Dr. Hermann Keller (1946-1952). Its 10 organs
make it the university best equipped with organs in the world
today. A further characteristic of the university is its strong
department of Composition and Music Theory. Many famous
composers have come out of Stuttgart, of whom the most
well-known in recent times is surely Professor Helmut
Lachenmann. The university has also maintained its traditional
strength in instrumental studies. Outstanding (pianists),
internationally renowned strings and wind players, as well as
an important percussion department further underline the
high standards in Stuttgart.
Also to be mentioned is the traditionally strong voice
department. Many of the professors are able to draw upon
years of experience on the most important stages of the
world for their teaching.
_ Hsiao Yen CHEN (piano)
Hsiao -Yen Chen was born in 1984 in Taipei, Taiwan. She
started to learn piano at the age of four, and lived in Hamburg
(Germany) from 1989-94. In 1990 she was awarded the 1st
Prize of the “Jugend Musiziert” Competition in Hamburg,
Germany.

A mais antiga Universidade de Música de Baden-Wuttemberg foi fundada como a Escola
de Música de Estugarda em 1857. Em 1865 passou a ser designada por Conservatório de
Música de Estugarda. Nesse momento passou a ser uma instituição para preparar músicos
profissionais mas também uma escola para formar músicos amadores. Estes dois departamentos
só foram separados em 1921 sobre um novo nome – Universidade de Música de Wuttemberg.
Aí, tornou-se evidente a sua vocação na formação de músicos profissionais. Apesar destas
mudanças de nome a Universidade de Música de Estugarda foi reconhecida, desde o início,
pela continuidade do seu trabalho pedagógico. Desde o princípio do século XIX o então
Conservatório de Estugarda foi também uma escola para actores.
A actual designação “State University of Music and Performing Arts” foi definida em
1963. A escola tem, no presente, aproximadamente 770 alunos provenientes de mais de 40
países que usufruem de excelentes condições artísticas e das infra-estruturas.
O departamento de Música Sacra, tradicionalmente forte, foi desenvolvido sob a direcção
do Professor Dr. Hermann Keller (1946-1952). Os seus 10 órgãos tornam a Universidade a
mais bem equipada com órgãos em todo o Mundo. Também os departamentos de Composição

Hsiao Yen CHEN (piano)
Hsiao - Yen Chen nasceu em 1984, em Taipé, Taiwan. Começou a aprender piano aos
quatro anos de idade e viveu em Hamburgo, Alemanha entre 1989-94. Em 1990 foi-lhe
atribuido o 1º prémio na competição “Jugend Musiziert" em Hamburgo, Alemanha. Mais
tarde, em 1994, mudou-se para Taiwan com os seus pais. Em 1998 foi finalista da competição
da “Young Stars Series” Competition (Taipei Phillharmonic Foundation for Culture and Education).
Em 1999, foi admitida na Universidade Nacional das Artes de Tainan com nota máxima e em
2002 termina a sua graduação. Em Novembro do mesmo ano é-lhe atribuído o 1º prémio
da Competição de piano de Tainan.
Desde 2003, estuda na Universidade de Música e Artes Performativas de Estugarda
(Alemanha) com Wan-Ing Ong. Hsiao - Yen Chen. Tornou-se então, acompanhante de piano
na Universidade e hoje em dia actua como solista e de música de câmara, na Alemanha.
Participou também na masterclass de Andrei Diev, de Boris Slutsky, Vladmir Krpan, Oliver
Kern, Therese Dussaut, Klaus Kaufmann e de Konstantin Scherbakov.

A jovem violinista Jen - Wei Chen nasceu em 1987 na cidade de Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Começou a estudar violino com 5 anos de idade. Ganhou muitos prémios de música a solo
e de música de câmara em Taiwan, e era também a concertino das orquestras da juventude
de Kaohsiung. Integrou masterclasses de L. David, Nai-Yuan Hu, H. Kalafusz e R. Nodel.
Presentemente, estuda na Staatliche Musikhochschule Stuttgart em Estugarda (Alemanha),
com a Prof. Kolja Lessing.

Gen YOKOSAKA (violoncelo)
Nascido em 1986, Gen Yokosaka começou a tocar violoncelo com 4 anos de idade.
Estudou com K. Washio e H. Mori na Escola de Música de Toho começando a ter aulas com
David Geringas e Jian Wang na Academia da Música de Ishikawa. Ganhou o seu primeiro
prémio na secção de cordas na Competição de Música Clássica Japonesa, aos 12 anos.
Continuou assim a ganhar numerosas competições, sendo que em 2002, na Viva Hall Cello
Competition, foi o mais jovem vencedor de sempre.
Gen Yokosaka actuou com maestros como Seiji Ozawa, Kazuyoshi Akiyama, Naoto
Otomo, Ken Takaseki, Kenichiro Kobayashi e Daisuke Soga, na Orquestra Sinfónica de
Yomiuri, a Nova Filarmónica do Japão, a Filarmónica do Japão, a Sinfónica de Tokyo e
Filarmónica de Osaka. Apresentou também recitais e actuou ainda em concertos transmitidos
pela televisão nacional (NHK e TV Asahi). Actualmente estuda na Staatliche Musikhochschule
Stuttgart em Estugarda (Alemanha), com Jean-Guihen Queyras.
She moved to Taiwan with her parents in 1994. In 98 she
was finalist of the “Young Stars Series” Competition (Taipei
Phillharmonic Foundation for Culture and Education) in Taiwan.
In 1999 she was admitted into “Tainan National University of
the Arts” and graduated there in 2002. In November of the
same year she was awarded the 1st Prize of Tainan Piano
Competition.
Since 2003 she studies at “The University of Music and
Performing Arts Stuttgart” (Germany) with Mrs. Wan-Ing Ong.
She was accompanist in the University and is now active as
soloist and chamber music player in Germany.
She had been in the Masterclass of Andrei Diev, Boris

Kaufmann and Konstantin Scherbakov.

The young violinist Jen-Wei Chen was born in 1987 in

_ Gen YOKOSAKA (cello)
Was born in 1986, Gen Yokosaka began to play cello at
the 4 years old and studied with K. Washio and H. Mori at
the Toho School of Music as well as taking further lessons
with David Geringas and Jian Wang at the Ishikawa Music

He has won the First prize in the string section of the All
Japan Classical Music Competition at 12 years old. He went
on to win numerous competitions including the 2002 Viva

The Brussels Conservatoire was founded in 1832. Since
then it has been known as one of the most important musical
education institutions of Belgium. Students from all over the
world give the musical life at the Royal Conservatory a very
international character.
The institution maintains its well established tradition of
excellence in education through the study of contemporary
and historical repertoires. It offers also a wide program to its
students through the development of its sections of Ancient
Music, Jazz and Musical.
The library of the Royal Conservatory possesses a worldfamous collection of around one million volumes. Music of
the 17th and 18th centuries is particularly well represented,
including autographs by C. Ph. E. Bach, J. W. Hertel and G.
Ph. Telemann.
The Conservatory is housed in a historical 19th-century
building by Jean-Pierre Cluysenaer. Its famous concert hall
with an unique Cavaillé-Coll organ has excellent acoustics.
The hall plays an important role in the musical life of the city
where the own concerts are performed among productions
of other organizations such as the International Queen Elisabeth
Competition.
_ Anneleen LENAERTS (harp)
Born in 1987 plays the piano and the harp. She received
the Music Academy diploma for both instruments with the
highest distinction. She started playing the harp at the age
of nine with Lieve Robbroeckx and worked with her
continuously for 9 years. Anneleen has participated in master
classes with renowned harpists such as Susann Mcdonald,
Suzanna Mildonian, Isabelle Moretti, Marielle Nordmann,
Isabelle Perrin, Erika Waardenburg, David Watkins,…
Anneleen currently studies with Isabelle Perrin in Paris and
Jana Bouskova at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where
she also studies music writing in the class of Rafaël D’Haene.
Still very young, Anneleen has already achieved an

Anneleen foi ainda convidada para recitais a solo em festivais e em simpósios de harpa
por toda a Europa, sendo elogiada pela sua musicalidade e virtuosidade extraordinárias.
Como solista principal, participou com diversas orquestras conceituadas na Bélgica e no
estrangeiro.
Outras actuações de Anneleen, incluem performances de música de câmara com Christel
Rayneau no Ministère de la Marine’ em Paris, com Giuseppe Nova no Giovani Vistuosi
Dell’Arpa Serier em Alba (Itália) e com o Quarteto Amadeo Modigliano Clemont Dufour e

been crowned with many first prizes. Between 1997 and
2005, she gained no less than 13 prizes at national and
international harp competitions in Belgium, France, Austria,
Hungary, Spain and the USA of which the latest the ‘5ème

prestigious harp competitions in the world.
Anneleen has been invited to give solo recitals at harp
festivals and symposia throughout Europe, where she was
praised for her extraordinary musicality and virtuosity. She
was a featured soloist with several famous orchestras in
Belgium and abroad.
Other appearances include performances of chamber

Sibelius Academy is the only music university in Finland,
and one of Europe’s largest higher education institutes of
music. We train pedagogues, music experts and artists
capable of independent artistic work. There are more than
1,700 students at Sibelius Academy, and approx. 170 new
students are admitted every year.
Degrees and degree programmes
At Sibelius Academy, we offer a wide range of study
opportunities, divided into ten degree programmes. The
oldest is the distinguished Degree Programme in Music
Performance, which has provided the education for the better
part of our world-class musicians. The newest additions to
our selection is the Degree Programme in Arts Management,
launched in 1997, and the Degree Programme in Music
Technology, launched in 1998, as a response to the music
field’s demand for new kinds of professional skills. The
permanent teaching staff at Sibelius Academy comprises

Born in 1987 started playing the violin at the age of 4 at
the Helsinki Conservatory. Since 1997 he studied with the

Petteri IIVONEN (violino)
Nasceu em 1987 e começou a tocar violino com cerca de 4 anos de idade, no conservatório
de Helsínquia. Desde 1997 estudou com o mundialmente conhecido Professor Tuomas
Haapanen. Aos quinze anos ganhou a competição de música de câmara de Erkki Melartin
com o seu piano trio. Após ter ganho a competição de música de câmara gravou pela primeira

Em Janeiro de 2005, foram-lhe atribuídos o primeiro prémio e os prémios especiais da
Competição Nacional de Violino em Kuopio e desde então actuou com frequência como
solista por toda a Finlândia. Também actuou na Alemanha, em Itália, nos Países Baixos e nos
EUA. Em 2007, interpretou o concerto Sibelius no Finlandia Hall para uma assistência de
cerca de 1700 pessoas, incluindo o presidente da Finlândia, com o maestro Leif Segerstam.

Salla KARAKORPI (piano)
Nascida em 1982 começou a tocar piano com 5 anos de idade. Estudou no Music
Institute of Espoo entre 1987 e 2002 e na Royal Academy of Music de Estocolmo (Chambermusic
Institute of Edsberg) de 2002 a 2005. Teve como professores Katarina Nummi, Carlos Juris
e Mats Widlund. Desde o Outono de 2005 estuda na Sibelius Academy como o professor
Erik Tawaststjerna. Participou em diversas masterclasses com Konstantin Bogino, Teppo
Koivisto e Liisa Pohjola apenas para mencionar alguns. Salla apresentou-se como solista e
como músico de câmara na Finlândia, Suécia, Suiça, Polónia e Itália. Realizou um recital no
8º Espoo International Piano Festival 2005.

in the year 1767 in Naples, kindly loaned to him by OKO
Bank Art Foundation.
_ Salla KARAKORPI (piano(
Born in 1982 she started to play piano when she was 5
years old. She has studied in the Music Institute of Espoo
1987-2002 and 2002-05 in the Royal Academy of Music in
Stockholm (Chambermusic Institute of Edsberg). Her teachers
were lecture Katarina Nummi, Carlos Juris and professor
Mats Widlund. Since the autumn 2005 she has studied in
the Sibelius Academy with professor Erik Tawaststjerna. She
has taken part in many master courses with Konstantin
Bogino, Teppo Koivisto and Liisa Pohjola to name but a few.
Salla has played concerts as a soloist and chamber musician
in Finland and Europe, for example in Sweden, Switzerland,
Poland and Italy. Salla performed her own recital in 8th Espoo
International Piano Festival 2005.

Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music enjoys a
worldwide reputation as a conservatoire where performers,

The College is situated in London's South Kensington,
next to Imperial College, directly opposite the Royal Albert
Hall, near the Royal College of Art and five minutes. walk
from the Science, Natural History and Victoria and Albert
Museums - the capital's most important artistic, scientific
and cultural melting pot.
Since its foundation by the Prince of Wales, later Edward
Vll, the College has been linked with the Royal family. Its
patron is currently Her Majesty The Queen. For 40 years, Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was President;
in 1993 HRH The Prince of Wales became President, Her
Majesty The Queen Mother becoming President Emerita.
The College's influence on the development of music in the
last 100 years is incalculable. Through its doors have passed
some of the most distinguished and influential figures in British
music history. Former students include composers Sir Arthur
Bliss, Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Benjamin Britten,
Sir Michael Tippett, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber; conductors
Leopold Stokowski, Sir Charles Groves, Sir Colin Davis;
singers Dame Joan Sutherland, Sarah Walker, Thomas Allen;
and instrumentalists James Galway, John Lill and Barry
Douglas. The College's influence is not only historical, however:
it continues to grow, year by year attracting some of the finest
talent of each generation.
_ Alea QUARTET
The Alea Quartet was formed at the Royal College of Music
in 2003. Under the auspices of the RCM, they have been
coached by Dona Lee Croft, Ivo-Jan van der Werff, Francis
Mason, and by members of the Chilingirian Quartet.
Whilst receiving tuition from Matthew Quenby at the
Pontlevoy International Summer Academy, the quartet obtained
the Grand Prix for the best student performance. In July
2006 they performed at Aberystwyth International MusicFest,
where they worked extensively with the Medici Quartet. They
also studied with the Wihan Quartet at Pro Corda Musical
Encounters 2006.
In November 2004, the quartet gave a performance of
Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro with Blackheath String
Orchestra. The Aleas have performed at Westminster
Cathedral, the Victoria and Albert museum, the National
Gallery and 11 Downing Street. In January 2006 they
represented the RCM at the British Library’s festival “Mozart
– then and now”. In November 2006, the group performed
Hurlstone’s String Quartet in E minor in a showcase concert
at the RCM, as well as recording the work. They were featured
in the Wycombe Arts Festival 2007 and have given recitals
across England and Wales.
The quartet is in increasing demand for contemporary
music projects. In November 2005, they premiered Roberto
Becheri’s Hercules in the Starry Sky as part of the festival ‘In
the Footsteps of Hercules’ and the group has collaborated
with American composer Virginia Samuel to record two of
her string quartets. They were also featured in the RCM

da história da música britânica. Alguns dos seus distintos estudantes foram, por exemplo,
os compositores Sir Arthur Bliss, Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Benjamin Britten,
Sir Michael Tippett, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber; os maestros Leopold Stokowski, Sir Charles
Bosque, Sir Colin Davis; Dame Joan Sutherland, os cantores, Walker de Sarah, Thomas
Allen; e os instrumentistas James Galway, John Lill e Barry Douglas. No entanto, a sua
influência não é apenas histórica: continua a crescer, ano após ano atraindo os mais talentosos
músicos de cada geração.

Alea QUARTET
O Alea Quartet foi formado no Royal College of Music em 2003. Sob os auspícios do
RCM trabalharam com Dona Lee Croft, Ivo-Jan van der Werff, Francis Mason e com membros
do Chilingirian Quartet.
Enquanto trabalhavam com Mathew Quenby na Pontlevoy International Summer Academy,
o quarteto obteve o prémio para a melhor performance dos alunos. Em Julho de 2006
actuaram no Aberystwyth International MusicFest, onde trabalharam de forma intensiva com
o Quarteto Medici. Estudaram ainda com o Quarteto Wihan nos Pro Corda Musical Encounters
2006.
Em novembro de 2004 o quarteto apresentou a Introduction e Allegro de Elgar com a
Blackheath String Orchestra. O Alea quartet actuou na Westminster Cathedral, no Victoria
e Albert museum, na National Gallery e no 11 Downing Street. Em Janeiro de 2006
representaram o RCM no British Library’s festival “Mozart – then and now”. Em Novembro
do mesmo ano, o grupo interpretou o Quarteto em Mi menor de Hurlstone num concerto de
exibição no RCM, tendo gravado a obra. Apresentaram-se no Wycombe Arts Festival 2007
e deram recitais por toda a Inglaterra e Gales.
O quarteto está cada vez mais receptivo a projectos de música contemporânea. Em
Novembro de 2005, estrearam a obra Hercules in the Starry Sky de Roberto Becheri’s no
âmbito do Festival ‘In the Footsteps of Hercules’. O grupo colaborou ainda com a compositora
americana Virgínia Samuel para gravar dois dos seus quartetos de cordas. Participaram no
RCM Turnage festival interpretando An Invention on Solitude com o clarinetista do RCM
Jonathan Parkhill.

Amanda LAKE (violino)
Após insistir com os pais durante dezoito meses, Amanda Lake, começa a estudar
violino com Patrícia Calnan, aos quatro anos de idade. Após ter estudado com Marius
Bedeschi por um período de oito anos, Amanda continuou os seus estudos na Royal College
of Music sob a orientação de Dona Lee Croft, graduando-se com distinção em Julho de
2007. Lidera o “Alea Quartet” sendo igualmente membro do Prince Consort Ensemble.
Destacam-se os desempenhos com estes grupos na Downing Street, em St Martins-in-theFields, na Westminster Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral e também na Tour que realizou pelos
Estados Unidos da América. Amanda foi convidada para conduzir a Orquestra de Câmara
do RCM sob a tutela de Sir Roger Norrington na noite de abertura do festival " The Power
of Mozart ".
Amanda figurou por diversas vezes como solista em orquestras por toda a Londres e
a Sudeste de Inglaterra, interpretando obras de Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Sibelius, Vaughan
Williams, Prokofiev, Ravel e Sarasate. Amanda apresentou-se em diversos recitais
designadamente para Hitchin Music Matters, para o Treasury Music Society e para Catford
Arts Festival.

Esther KING (violino)
Esther começou recentemente a Pós-graduação no Royal College of Music, instituição
onde também concluiu o curso superior, estudando violino com Dona Lee Croft. Esther
estudou também no departamento júnior do RCM e foi membro do Orquestra Nacional da
Juventude da Grã-Bretanha entre 2001-2003. Ela é actualmente a 1º segundo violino na
English Symphony Youth Orchestra. A música de câmara é a sua paixão, tendo pertencido
já a vários ensembles ao longo da sua carreira. Com cerca de doze anos tocou numa orquestra
de câmara para o príncipe Edward no Palácio de St. James em Londres e em 2006 foi filmada
a tocar num quarteto de cordas na produção da BBC intitulada “The Line of Beauty”. Esther
aprecia ainda o canto coral e em 1995 foi a mais jovem galardoada do Prémio Bishop of
Oxford’s Junior Chorister, sendo também membro dos Ionian singers. Esther aprecia também
línguas estrangeiras e viagens e por essa razão tem actuado em diversos locais e países,
designadamente Inglaterra, Bélgica, Dinamarca, França, Holanda, Itália e Suiça.

Clare FOX (viola)
Clare está actualmente no seu primeiro ano do curso de pós-graduação no RCM, onde
estuda viola com Jonathan Barritt. Terminou o seu curso superior em Julho de 2007 e durante
esse tempo estudou com o Professor Ivo-Jan van der Werff. A música de câmara é sua
paixão, tendo actuado com o “Alea Quartet” e com o recentemente formado duo Phoenix.
Clare também toca com o Quarteto Zambooka, com quem actou em diversos locais em
Londres, inclusive o Museu Victoria e o Albert, e a Igreja St Michaels, Kensington. O Quarteto
Zambooka participou também na série de drama da BBC, "Line of Beauty". Como integrante
do Trio Rosetti, Clare executou trabalhos em flauta, harpa e em viola no Oxford’s Holywell
Music Rooms tendo aparecido também na ITV no programa "Favorite Hymns".
Clare é um elemento de orquestra experiente e foi 1ª viola da English Symphony Orchestra
Youth Orchestra e da Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra.
Sob o patrocínio do RCM Clare trabalhou com importantes maestros tais como Bernard
Haitink, Andrew Litton, Sir Roger Norrington e Vladimir Ashkenazy. No Outono de 2007, Clare
foi escolhida como 1ª viola para a Orquestra de Câmara do RCM para interpretar obras de
Schumann e Schubert acompanhada pelo desaparecido Janos Furst. Como solista, Clare
concorreu em 2004 à competição Muir Matheison e em 2005 interpretou obras de Berlioz
Turnage festival, performing An Invention on Solitude with
RCM clarinettist Jonathan Parkhill.
_ Amanda LAKE (violin)
After pleading with her parents for eighteen months,
Amanda Lake began learning the violin with Patricia Calnan,
at the age of four. Having studied with Marius Bedeschi for
eight years, Amanda continued her studies at the Royal
College of Music under Dona Lee Croft, graduating with first
class honours in July 2007.
Amanda is in demand as a chamber and orchestral
musician. She leads the Alea quartet as well as being a
member of the Prince Consort Ensemble. She has given
performances with these groups in Downing Street, St Martinsin-the-Fields, Westminster Cathedral and Winchester
Cathedral, as well as touring the United States of America.
Amanda was invited to lead the RCM Chamber Orchestra
under Sir Roger Norrington at the opening night of the festival
“The Power of Mozart”.
Amanda has appeared extensively as a soloist with
orchestras across London and the South-East, performing
works by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Sibelius, Vaughan Williams,
Prokofiev, Ravel and Sarasate. She has given recitals for
Hitchin Music Matters, the Treasury Music Society and Catford
Arts Festival
_ Esther KING (violin)
She has recently commenced a Masters postgraduate
course at the Royal College of Music, where she undertook
her undergraduate degree, studying the violin with Dona Lee
Croft. She also studied at the RCM Junior Department, and
was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great
Britain from 2001-2003. She is currently principal second
violin in the English Symphony Youth Orchestra. Chamber
music is a particular passion and she has performed in a
number of ensembles throughout her playing career; at the
age of 12 she played in a chamber orchestra for Prince
Edward at St. James' Palace in London and in 2006 she was
filmed playing in a string quartet in the BBC production of
The Line of Beauty. Esther enjoys choral singing; in 1995
she was the youngest holder of Bishop of Oxford’s Junior
Chorister Award and she is a member of the Ionian Singers.
Esther also enjoys foreign languages and travel and has, in
addition to performing in many parts of Britain, performed in
Belgium, Denmark, France, Holland, Italy and Switzerland.
_ Clare FOX (viola)
She is currently in her first year of a postgraduate course
at the RCM, where she studies viola with Jonathan Barritt.
She completed her undergraduate degree in July 2007 during
which time she studied with Professor Ivo-Jan van der Werff.
Chamber music is her first love, and as well as performing
with the Alea Quartet and the recently formed Phoenix duo,
Clare also plays with the Zambooka Quartet, which has
performed at numerous venues across London, including the
Victoria and Albert Museum, and St Michaels Church,
Kensington. The Zambooka Quartet also appeared last year
in the BBC Drama, “The Line of Beauty”. As part of the Rosetti
Trio Clare has performed works for flute, harp and viola at
Oxford’s Holywell Music Rooms, and has appeared on ITV’s
“Favourite Hymns”.
Clare is an experienced orchestral musician, and was
principal viola of both the English Symphony Orchestra Youth
Orchestra, and the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra.
Under the auspices of the RCM Clare has worked with great
conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Andrew Litton, Sir Roger
Norrington and Vladimir Ashkenazy. In Autumn 2007 Clare
was chosen as principal viola of the RCM Chamber Orchestra,
to perform works by Schumann and Schubert with the late
Janos Furst. As a soloist, Clare was runner up in the 2004
Muir Matheison Competition. In 2005 she performed Berlioz’
Harold in Italy with Banbury Symphony Orchestra, and has
been invited to return to play the Walton concerto with them
next year.
_ Sophie RIVLIN (cello)
She recently completed a Post-Graduate at the Royal
Academy of Music (with Distinction) studying with Colin Carr
and Philip Sheppard. Previous teachers include Joan Dickson,
Melissa Phelps and Rebecca Gilliver. As soloist and chamber
musician, Sophie has performed at leading venues (including
St John's Smith Square, St James Piccadilly, Canterbury
Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Kettles Yard). She has recently
collaborated with artists such as Tavaziva Dance Company
on their dance, 'Chivezwa', Dena Lague (Dancer with Mathew
Bourne’s production of Edward Scissorhands), Seonaid
Goody (Puppeteer with Little Angel theatre). Before attending
the Academy, Sophie graduated in Philosophy from Clare
College, Cambridge where she held a University Instrumental
Award.

The Superior School of Music and Performance Arts
(ESMAE), belonging to the Polytechnic Institute of the Porto,
emerged, after the extinction of the Superior School of Music,
with intention to widen its offer of graduation courses to other
artistic areas beyond music. Thus, since the date of its
constitution in December of 1994, the ESMAE encloses two
departments: Music, where if it offers degrees in the most
various areas, such as instrument, singing, composition,
ancient music, jazz, production and music technologies; and
the Theatre department, that is responsible for the education
in branches such as: interpretation, scene direction,
cenography, figurines and lightning and sound. As a School
of Performance Arts, ESMAE gives a particular importance
to the performances and exhibitions of its pupils, since this
is an essential complement in order to achieve their courses
objectives. These performances have as principal aim the
promotion of a strong and permanent contact between the
young actors and musicians and its future public, which by
these means can have the chance of knowing them and
learning how to appreciate them. In this context, ESMAE has
a Concert Coffee and the Theatre Helena Sá Costa, which
are the stages of a great part of the performances of students
of this school. Furthermore, ESMAE has developed varied
partnerships in order to give a chance to its students to show
their work, off campus through concerts of chamber music
and orchestra, in Serralves, Quinta da Bonjóia and the Coliseu
do Porto, among others. ESMAE has, currently, about 600
students and 76 teachers and already graduated five hundred
artists and musicians.
_ Mariana COSTA (violin)
Born in the city of Porto in 1987, initiated her musical
studies at the age of five, with Andrea Moreira as her teacher,
in the Conservatório Regional de Gaia. Mariana, finished her
studies of the Complementary Course of Violin with distinction,
in 2005, in the class of professor Francisco Pereira de Sousa.
Then she entered ESMAE in 2005, to the class of Marta
Eufrázio. Currently, one her objectives, is to finish her degree
under the orientation of Zófia Wóycicka. She has also
participated in masterclasses with Gerardo Ribeiro, Roman
Nodel, S. Kravchenko, among others. Furthermore she’s an
integrant member of the Sinfonieta Orchestra of ESMAE, the
Perpetuum Momentum (Young Orchestra of Portugal), and
the Orquestra Clássica de Espinho, having collaborated with
other national and foreign orchestras as well.
_ Carlos VELOSO (violin)
Initiated his musical studies with eleven years (1998) at
Orff Institute of Porto. The following year he entered the
Conservatory of Music of Porto in the class of professor José
Paulo Jesus (ONP) having finished the basic course with the
grade of 18. In 2006, he was admitted at the Superior School
of Music and Performance Arts (ESMAE). Then, he starts to
present his solo performances in concerts (Casa da Música,
Museu Romântico and others), and in orchestra (already
having worked with maestros like Cesário Costa, Ernest

A Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo (ESMAE), pertencente ao
Instituto Politécnico do Porto, surge, após a extinção da Escola Superior de Música, com o
intuito de alargar a formação de nível superior a outras áreas artísticas, para além da música.
Assim, e desde a data da sua constituição, em Dezembro de 1994, a ESMAE abrange dois
departamentos: o da Música, onde se dá formação nas mais variadas áreas, tais como
instrumento, canto, composição, música antiga, jazz, produção e tecnologias da música; e
o Departamento de Teatro, que é responsável pela formação no ramo da interpretação,
direcção de cena, cenografia, figurinos, luz e som.
Como escola de artes performativas, a ESMAE dá particular atenção à necessidade de
proporcionar apresentações e espectáculos dos seus alunos, complemento imprescindível
para que se possam cumprir os objectivos dos seus cursos. Estes espectáculos têm como
objectivo promover um contacto estreito e permanente entre os jovens actores e músicos
e o seu futuro público, que terá assim a oportunidade de os conhecer e de aprender a
apreciá-los. Neste contexto, existe na ESMAE um Café Concerto e o Teatro Helena Sá Costa,
que são palco de grande parte das apresentações da escola. Paralelamente, a ESMAE tem
desenvolvido inúmeras parcerias dando assim aos alunos a oportunidade de mostrarem o
seu trabalho fora da escola, nomeadamente através de concertos de música de câmara e
orquestra, em Serralves, na Quinta da Bonjóia e no Coliseu do Porto, entre outros.
A ESMAE tem, actualmente, cerca de 600 alunos e 76 docentes e já formou mais de
meio milhar de diplomados.

Mariana COSTA (violino)
Nascida em 1987 e natural do Porto, iniciou os seus estudos musicais aos 5 anos, com
a professora Andrea Moreira, no Conservatório Regional de Gaia. Concluiu, em 2005, o Curso
Complementar de Violino na classe do professor Francisco Pereira de Sousa, com elevada
classificação. Ingressou na Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo em 2005,

sob a orientação da professora Zófia Wóycicka.
Participou em masterclasses com Gerardo Ribeiro, Roman Nodel, S. Kravchenko, entre
outros. É membro integrante da Orquestra Sinfonieta da ESMAE, da Momentum Perpetuum
(Orquestra de Jovens de Portugal), e da Orquestra Clássica de Espinho, tendo já colaborado
igualmente com outras orquestras nacionais e estrangeiras.

Carlos VELOSO (violino)
Iniciou os estudos musicais aos onze anos (1998) no Instituto Orff do Porto.
No ano seguinte ingressou no Conservatório de Música do Porto na classe do professor
José Paulo Jesus (ONP) tendo terminado o curso básico com 18 valores.
Em 2006 foi admitido na Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo do
Porto (ESMAE).
Apresenta-se em concertos a solo (Casa da Música, Museu Romântico e outros), em
orquestra (já tendo trabalhado com maestros como Cesário Costa, Ernest Shelle, António
Saiote, Martin André entre outros) e em música de câmara. É membro integrante da Orquestra

de Jovens de Portugal Momentum Perpetuum com o maestro titular Martin André.
Frequentou várias masterclasses com Gerardo Ribeiro, Brian Finlayson, Sergey Kravchenko,
Keiko Wataya entre outros.
Actualmente frequenta o segundo ano da Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do
Espectáculo do Porto (ESMAE).

Francisca MOREIRA (viola)
Nasceu em 1988, na freguesia S. Martinho do Campo.
Iniciou os seus estudos musicais em Flauta Transversal com a professora Liliana Leal.
Em 2000 ingressa na Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave na classe de Viola
d’Arco da Professora Rute Azevedo.
Frequentou Cursos de Técnica e Aperfeiçoamento Instrumental com os professores Igor
Souliga, Paul Wakabayashi, Ryszard Wóycicki, entre outros.
Actualmente frequenta o 2º ano do Curso Superior de Viola d’Arco na Escola Superior
de Música das Artes do Espectáculo, na classe do Professor Ryszard Wóycicki.

Susana LIMA (violoncelo)
Nascida em 1987, iniciou os seus estudos musicais aos seis anos de idade por via não
oficial, escola particular.
Aos 12 anos de idade, ingressou na Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo,
frequentando o Curso Básico de Instrumento (nível II) e o Curso de Instrumento (nível III),
tendo terminado com elevada classificação. Estudou com a professora Pétia Samardjieva.
Ingressou na Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo em 2005, no Curso de
Música, área de cordas – violoncelo, na classe do professor Jed Barahal. Actualmente
encontra-se a concluir a licenciatura.
Participou em masterclasses com conceituados violoncelistas, tais como Clélia Vital,
Jed Barahal, Miguel Rocha, Paulo Gaio Lima, Luís Claret…
É membro integrante da Orquestra Sinfonieta da ESMAE. Participou em vários estágios
de orquestra com notáveis maestros tais como: Paul Wakabayashi, António Saiote, Vasco
Pearce de Azevedo, Cesário Costa, Bruno dal Bom.

Nuno CERNADAS (piano)
Nasceu no Porto em 1988. Iniciou o estudo de piano aos 5 anos. Aos 8, foi admitido
ao Conservatório de Música do Porto, onde foi aluno dos Professores Constantin Sandu e
Fátima Travanca, tendo concluído o Curso Complementar de Piano, com classificação final
de 19 valores.
Em Junho de 2006, no Ateneu Comercial do Porto, fez a sua estreia como solista com
a Orquestra do Conservatório de Música do Porto sob a direcção do Maestro Kamen
Goleminov, na provável estreia nacional da obra de Franz Liszt “Malédiction”, para piano e
cordas.
Ainda em 2006, concorreu e foi admitido à Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do
Espectáculo, onde frequenta actualmente o 2º ano do Curso Superior de Piano na classe
do Professor Constantin Sandu.
Foi premiado em diversos concursos nacionais de Piano, entre os quais o 4º Concurso
Nacional de Piano de Ourém (2º Prémio), 4º Concurso Ibérico do Alto Minho (2º Prémio), e
“Marília Rocha” (1º Prémio e Melhor Peça Imposta).
Frequentou Master-Classes de conceituados professores tais como Miguel Borges
Coelho, Paul Badura-Skoda, Boris Berman, Sequeira Costa e Vitaly Margulis.
Shelle, António Saiote, Martin André, among others) and in
chamber music too. Carlos is an integrant member of the
Young Orchestra of Portugal Perpetuum Momentum with the
titular Maestro Martin Andres. Participated in several

_ Francisca MOREIRA (viola)
Was born in 1988, in S. Martinho do Campo. Francisca
initiated her musical studies in Transversal Flute with Liliana
Leal. In the year 2000, she enters the Artistic Professional
School of Vale do Ave in the class of Viola d'Arco with Rute
Azevedo. She attended courses of Technique and Instrumental
Perfectioning with professors like Igor Souliga, Paul
Wakabayashi, Ryszard Wóycicki, among others. Currently
attends the second year of the Viola Course in the Superior
School of Music and Performance Arts of Porto (ESMAE), in
the class of Professor Ryszard Wóycicki.

_ Nuno CERNADAS (piano)
Was born in Porto, in 1988. He began studying piano with
5 years old. At the age of eight, he was admitted to the Music
Conservatory of Porto, where he was pupil of Professors
Constantin Sandu and Fátima Travanca, having concluded
the Complementary Course of Piano, with final mark of 19/20.
In June 2006, at the Commercial Athenaeum of Porto, he
made his opening as soloist with the Orchestra of the Music
Conservatory of Porto under the supervision of teacher Kamen
Goleminov, probably in the national premiere of the work of
Franz Liszt "Malédiction", for piano and strings. Still in 2006,
he was admitted to the Superior School of Music and
Performing Arts of Porto (ESMAE), where currently attends
the 2nd year of the Piano Course in the class of Professor
Constantin Sandu. He was awarded in diverse national
competitions of Piano, namely the 4th National Competition
of Piano of Ourém (2nd Prize), 4th Iberian Competition of
the Alto Minho (2nd Prize), and "Marília Rock" (1st Prize and
Best Imposed Part). He participated in several Masterclasses
of famous professors such as Miguel Borges Coelho, Paul
Badura-Skoda, Boris Berman, Sequeira Costa and Vitaly
Margulis.
