Press Release Bulletin 01-2013 March 25, 2013 The IPAB’s Governing Board appointed Kuribreña as the new Executive Secretary Lorenzo Meade The IPAB’s Governing Board appointed Lorenzo Meade Kuribreña as the new Executive Secretary, substituting José Luis Ochoa Bautista The Governing Board also appointed Raúl Castro Montiel as Deputy Secretary of Bank Savings Protection; Francisco Xavier Gil Leyva as Deputy Secretary of Administration and Budget, and Mario Luna Estrada as Deputy Secretary of Legal Affairs The designations will be effective as of April 1 st The Instituto para la Protección al Ahorro Bancario’s Governing Board appointed Lorenzo Meade Kuribreña as the new Executive Secretary in substitution of José Luis Ochoa Bautista. In addition, the governing body acknowledged Jose Luis Ochoa´s professional career as a public servant in the financial sector and thanked him for his outstanding work as head of the IPAB during his tenure; emphasizing his work in transforming the IPAB, providing it with a clear strategic plan, and wished him success in his future endeavors. Likewise, the IPAB’s Governing Board highlighted Meade’s professional trajectory and experience in the financial sector, particularly within the IPAB, and expressed their certainty that he will successfully guide the IPAB in its mission to guarantee the bank deposits of small and medium-sized depositors. Additionally, the Governing Board emphasized the need to continue strengthening the savings protection system that is administered by the IPAB in order to contribute to the financial stability in Mexico. Lorenzo Meade, who will assume the position of the IPAB’s Executive Secretary starting April 1st, is a Public Accountant from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). He possesses an ample professional career in the financial sector in Mexico, where he has held several senior-level positions. Varsovia 19, Col. Juárez. Previously, he was General Director for the Deposit Insurance at the IPAB, among other positions. At the National Commission for the Pension System (CONSAR, for its Spanish acronym) he served as General Director of Operational Monitoring, and has also held several positions at the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS, for its Spanish acronym). Likewise, the IPAB’s Governing Board designated Raúl Castro Montiel as Deputy Secretary of Bank Savings Protection; Fracisco Xavier Gil Leyva, as Deputy Secretary of Administration and Budget, and Mario Luna Estrada as Deputy Secretary of Legal Affairs. Raúl Castro Montiel holds a Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science and a Masters degree in Finance from the ITAM. Currently, he serves as the IPAB’s Office of Finance General Director, and has worked at the IPAB since 2001 in several offices of the Deputy Secretariat of Bank Savings Protection. Francisco Xavier Gil Leyva holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Masters degree in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics. He has held several positions in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP, for its Spanish acronym); recently he was the representative at the World Customs Organization and at the Mexican Permanent Representation to the European Union, which depends on the Tax Administration Service (SAT, for its Spanish acronym). Mario Luna Estrada holds a Law degree from the Universidad de las Américas and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the Instituto Nacional de Administración Pública (INAP, for its Spanish acronym). Currently he serves as IPAB’s Office of Asset Management and Sale General Director. Previously, he worked at several senior positions in the National Commission for the Protection of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF, for its Spanish acronym) and at the Office of the Mexican AttorneyGeneral (PGR, for its Spanish acronym). ooo000ooo Varsovia 19, Col.
