 Dear colleagues: The Cuban Ministry of Public Health have convened the International Conference on Health “Cuba Salud 2012”, sponsored by prestigious international organizations, which intends to analyze the health situation in Cuba and the world; therefore it will provide a space for deep reflection, with commitment and oriented to discuss various topics related to the international agenda for health care and its challenges. In this important event, the interchange about the effectiveness of public health services in the 21st century will be facilitated, based on policies, strategies, and sustainable economic organizations, to evaluate the renewal processes in primary care and its implications for health services; to consider the people’s health improvement, and the scientific‐technical and humanist strategies in the training of health professionals and technicians to guarantee their high‐level scientific performance, being ideologically well prepared and having ethical and moral values; to evaluate the contribution of scientific research and innovation to the development of national health systems; to foster international health cooperation among countries, under the principle of a joint and supplementary collaboration to improve the health of the peoples, and to promote agreements on technological and innovation issues. A parallel Virtual Conference will be developed as a participation opportunity for home and foreign professionals who cannot attend. This forum will be online from December 3 to14. The Convention comprises eleven pre‐Conference courses and the following collateral meetings: • Symposium on Cancer Control • 4th International Symposium on Occupational Health • Experiences in the Implementation of the International Sanitary Regulations – 2005 • Challenges for the Control and Eradication of Tuberculosis • Operational Research for the Prevention of Dengue and Other Diseases Transmitted by Vectors • 2nd Meeting on International Health and Cooperation • International Meeting on Community Genetics • FRATEROS in the 2012 community We are completely sure that the wide spectrum of topics for debate, together with the hospitality of our capital city, will make the participants’ stay a combination of days in fruitful scientific exchanges and relaxation, which will favor the tightening of bounds of friendship and cooperation among the participants from different countries. Among the general facilities, the Center has a bookstore, Cuban music and craft shops general call and call to the parking lot. Access to its areas begins at 08:30 hours, and participants must respect the dress code in line with the protocol of our events. OFFICE OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE The offices of the Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee are located in the first floor, offices 1107 and 1108, respectively. It is also possible to make phone calls using the following phone numbers: 202 6011 to 19, and requesting the number of the desired office. INFORMATION DESK Information Desk #1 will be available during the days of the event to attend information requests. It is located in the main lobby of the Conference Center. Telephone numbers: 208 0450, 208 7558 and 202 6011 to 19, extensions 1210 and 1211. MEDICAL CARE SERVICES The Center provides medical care services during the days of the event. They can be found in the first floor, office #1106, phone number: 202 6011 to 19 ext. 1106. TOURIST DESKS Tourist desks are located in the different hotels where the participants of the event lodge in order make reservations to visit tourist centers and other places of interest. INTERNATIONAL CALL CENTER It is situated in the first floor, next to the cafeteria, and provides services such as: selling of phone cards, stamps, postcards and souvenirs. From 08:30 to 15:00 hours, the Business Center of “Palco” Hotel offers fax services, Internet access, e‐mail, document printing and photocopying, as well as sale of phone cards and newspapers. GASTRONOMIC SERVICES "El Bucán" Restaurant: it is located in the ground floor, facing the main entrance. It offers lunch service for participants from 12:00 to 14:30 hours. Restaurant‐Cafeteria: it is situated in the first floor and also offers lunch service from 12:00 to 15:00 hours. Snack bars: they are located in the first floor and offer coffee, tea, beverages and snacks, with service starting at 08:30 hours. 86 AUDIOVISUAL AIDS Conference rooms are equipped with: Data projector Computer Presentations in CD, DVD, flash drives and other mass storage devices that come with the papers must be submitted by the presenters at the Audiovisual Aids Office, located next to the Information Desk #1, one day before the presentation and during the session hours.
