B UC KS | Continued from Page 1B have to win these games and it puts more pressure on the teams behind us to win because if we keep on winning that means they have to keep on winning. ‘’I like that situation, that they have that stress and pressure to keep winning. It works to our advantage. We didn’t play pretty but we played hard and it was good enough to win.” Ruskowski also lauded the play of Lemanowicz between the pipes. “He made some huge stops for us. There was one when I buried my head because I just knew it was in. It was when he made that glove save. He played really well. I’m really happy with both my goalies the last two games. They are the backbone of our team.” Five minutes into the final period the short-handed Bucks were dealt a huge blow. Defenseman Steve Weidlich was stumbling and as he was headed to the ice his face collided with the Rayz’ Tim Vitek’s skate. Weidlich immediately crouched down on the ice and play was stopped. James Hiebert, Steve Simoes and trainer Bobby Moore escorted him off. Weidlich suffered a cut to his left cheek and nose. He returned in the final seconds but did not play. Ruskowski said of Weidlich’s injury, “Anything around the eyes and throat is very worrysome. He’ll be fine. He’s a trooper and a tough kid. He came back to play and I respect that. I didn’t play him because I didn’t want him to get hurt more.” With 10:24 left Hiebert was on a break away and was taken down from behind. He was awarded a penalty shot but was denied by Zelenewich. Corpus pulled Zelenewich with 1:11 left in the game and sent on an extra attacker. The Bucks scored the final blow with five second left. Simoes scored on Corpus’ empty net with Hiebert and Bes assisting. BUCK SHOTS: The Bucks only had 13 skaters Wednesday night. Adam Stefishen, Igor Agarunov, Nick Warriner and Ladislav Kouba did not play. Stefishen, Warriner and Agarunov were out with injuries and Kouba was recalled by the Rampage. Warriner has been on the IR since Dec. 16 and Agarunov went on the IR Dec. 17. Agarunov will be back in the lineup on New Year’s Eve…Corpus hadn’t scored more than two goals in regulation in 13 days…Corpus was 2 for 74 on the power play before Wednesday’s game.
