O saldo importador aumentou 7% e representou 6% do consumo. ELETRIcIDADE / ELECTRICITY 4 -5 Palmela – Manutenção Rede Elétrica Electricity consumption in 2011 was 50.5 TWh, which is the largest decline ever recorded in Portugal, a decrease of 3.2% or 2.3% corrected for the effect of temperature and number of working days. The peak power demanded of the grid was 9,192 MW, around 200 MW below the highest ever figure, recorded in 2010. Generation from renewable sources supplied 46% of consumption (18% wind, 22% hydro and 6% other renewables), less than the 52% recorded in the previous year, which occurred with exceptional weather conditions. Hydro and wind capability factors stood respectively at 0.92 and 0.97. For the first time, wind generation fell from the previous year despite an increase of 375 MW in power connected to the grid. In the major hydroelectric power stations, the power enhancements of Picote and Bemposta, adding 431 MW, came into service. Thermal output in Ordinary Status Generation increased 12% and supplied 38% of consumption (20% by natural gas and 18% by coal). The import balance increased by 7% and represented 6% of consumption. The development highlights of the national grid to improve supply are the new Prelada substation and the remodelling of Ermesinde to 220 kV, in Porto, while the highlights in Lisbon are the opening of the Zambujal substation and completion of an underground circuit between Sacavém and the Alto de S. João area (220 kV but only operating at 60 kV at this stage). In Trás-os-Montes, the 220 kV Macedo de Cavaleiros-Valpaços line came into operation, an important component of the future 220 kV line to cross the Trás-osMontes region between Lagoaça and Valdigem. In the central region, the 400 kV Lavos-Paraimo line came into operation, which will facilitate northsouth transmission and the flow of this region’s generation to others. On the Setúbal Peninsula, the 400 kV Palmela-Ribatejo line was diverted to Fernão Ferro, as part of the project to add 400 kV to this substation. In the Algarve, the following came into operation, to reinforce supplies, the inflow of renewable energy and the new interconnection with Spain: the Tavira substation, the 400 kV PortimãoTavira lines and the Portuguese section of the future Tavira-Puebla de Guzman (Spain) interconnection, as well as the 150 kV Portimão-Tunes 3 line. In terms of service quality, the national grid recorded its best ever performance, with an average interruption time of 0.27 minutes DADOS TÉCNICOS / TECHNICAL DATA 2011 repartição da produção GENERATION 6% 0% 8% 28% 5% 0% 7% 18% 2011 17% 2010 28% 22% 30% 13% 18% Solar Solar Eólica Wind Hidráulica Hydro Carvão Coal Gás Natural Natural Gas Outros Others Saldo Importador Import Balance 48% 54% 2011 46% 2010 52% Não Renovável Non-Renewable Renovável Renewable 6 -7 ELETRIcIDADE / ELECTRICITY ABASTECIMENTO DO CONSUMO power generation Consumo referido à produção líquida Net Demand GWh 2011 2010 Var. This value is broken down as follows: 21.3 TWh from the ordinary regime generation segment (37% of the total), 35.5 TWh from the conventional market segment supplied through distribution networks connected to the National Natural Gas Transport Grid (RNTGN) (62% of the total liquefied Natural Gas) and 0.7 TWh in LNG tanker loads for the national market from the Sines Terminal (1% of the total). The 4.4% decrease recorded in the consumption of natural gas for ordinary status electricity generation (PRO) was offset by increases in consumption in all segments of the conventional sector: 5.1% increase in demand among customers supplied at high pressure and a 0.5% increase in customers of the conventional sector supplied at medium pressure. In relation to the customers of local distribution networks, supply via Autonomous Gas Units (UAG) increased by 5.9%. In 2011, 55% of the natural gas entered the infrastructure operated by the RNTGN concession holder through Sines (NG from LNG regasification at the Sines LNG Terminal of REN Atlântico), while 44% was injected into the network through Campo Maior (NG from Algeria along the Maghreb gas pipeline) and 1% at Valença do Minho. The Sines Storage and Regasification Terminal supplied 31.3 TWh (around 2.6 bcm) to the National Natural Gas Transport Network, which is 1.5% up in relation to the preceding year. A total of 0.8 TWh (717 GWh for the domestic market and 82 GWh for export) was delivered by LNG tanker trucks, which is 17.8% higher than 2010 and equivalent to 2.5% of total terminal output to the National Natural Gas System (SNGN). In relation to underground storage, 0.9 TWh of natural gas were extracted from all infrastructures and 1.1 TWh injected into the caverns of REN Armazenagem. The RNTGN transported 58.2 TWh (around 4.89 bcm) of natural gas in 2011. This figure includes national high-pressure consumption and the injection of natural gas into underground storage, as well as gas outflow through the international connection point at Valença do Minho. The indicators of NG characteristics fell ithin the limits defined in the Service Quality Regulations (RQS).
