e na da expressão da cor na moda, com destaque para o seu papel na criação de uma colecção de vestuário. Os dados que
envolvem o mapeamento da activação neuronal e as conexões da cor com o vestuário foram inspeccionados segundo os
resultados e as descobertas da neurociência referentes às emoções e à visão - aspectos que revelam um conjunto novo de
proposições, quando o corpo se encontra deslocado do seu eixo gravitacional.
Para além de propostas que integraram a simbologia, a metáfora e a analogia no contexto de variáveis diversificadas (espaçotempo, luz-cor, sombra-reflexo, movimento-materialidade, biónica e biomimética...), questões houve que relacionaram a cor com
a sinalização, a orientação e a identificação foram estudadas do ponto de vista do design à escala urbana, ao encontro das
preocupações com a leitura da cor pela visão envelhecida e a legibilidade no âmbito da comunicação visual e do design inclusivo.
Ao levantar questões relativamente a uma área do saber, cada disciplina desloca as fronteiras estabelecidas de campos potenciais
à espera de nova germinação em futuros encontros. A riqueza do espectro de significados e sentidos criados pela oscilação
dessas fronteiras entre as temáticas gnoseológicas fica registada no léxico. O aprofundamento dos estudos multifacetados sobre
a cor não escapa a essa realidade, pelo que uma outra actividade da APCOR consiste no estudo do léxico da cor.
Enfim, encarando-se sob quaisquer modos de sensibilidade e de experiências o contributo da cor para a transformação civilizada

da APCOR reside na sua vocação para, de modo competente
e empenhado, fomentar actividades que produzam estudos
e realizações sérias na área da cor, com o oportuno
envolvimento da comunidade. Em particular, no ano de 2008,
entre os projectos desenvolvidos pela APCOR registam-se
os puramente especulativos, os empíricos e os integradores
da teoria e da práxis.
Em arquitectura, foram feitos estudos cromáticos que incidiram
sobre a concepção original de estruturas arquitectónicas ou
que se destinaram a reabilitar centros históricos, interiores e
bairros, enquanto o estudo de componentes materiais e
imateriais se estendia dos lugares históricos aos
contemporâneos, dada a importância da cor na criação de
um sentido de lugar e de pertença colectiva. Um despertar
fenomenológico das relações entre a luz, o espaço e a
arquitectura levou significado a um território onde a filosofia
e a arquitectura se ligam através de conceitos como os de
"abrigo" e "cuidado".

The Associação Portuguesa da Cor-APCOR was created in the context of the Faculty of Architecture-Lisbon Technical
University Master Course “Colour in Architecture”, in 2003. Still at an embryonic stage, this footprint - that is also a
historical landmark-ties the core activities of the APCOR to research and education as a means to further knowledge.
That is why the most endemic feature of the APCOR resides in its capacity to nourish activities leading to serious
study and trustworthy communication with the communities that colour connects.
In 2008, projects developed by the APCOR are either purely speculative, or empirical, or otherwise integrative of both
theory and praxis. Colour plans were made for original architectural and urban structures or to rehabilitate a historic
centre, quarter, or interior. In the classroom, theoretical teachings of colour were integrated at different levels of
education within various fields and disciplines. Experimentation was made with devices and prototypes and used as
didactic and pedagogical material. Technological aspects were addressed on how chromatic interactions of visuality
establish interfaces between webdesign and the user, or how colour may express itself in fashion design. Signage,
orientation and identification studied from a design standpoint at urban scale met with concerns that relate colour,
legibility and aged vision in the field of visual communication and inclusive design. Questions that involve mapping
neuronal activations and connections of colour and clothing inspected neuroscience findings relative to emotions and
visual perception, aspects that disclose a different array of propositions when the body is dislocated from its gravitational
axis. In architecture, the study of the material and immaterial components extended from the contemporary to historic
places to reveal the relevance of colour in the creation of a sense of place and collective belonging. A phenomenological
awareness to light, space and architecture provided meaning to a territory where philosophy and architecture are
bound in concepts of “shelter” and “care”. Other proposals integrated symbology, metaphor and analogy in the context

Colour is a transdisciplinary field and its lexicon testifies to that by reflecting a large spectrum of meanings. However
when each discipline raises questions, a chain of thought and findings shifts the established boundaries, as a galaxy
of potential fields waiting to germinate into new encounters. In all modes of sensibility and experience, colour has a
transformative power on the visible realm. It is with a feeling of wonder and joy that I realise how ‘chromogenous’
