AES Bread Pressure Board System Installation Instructions December 2010 rev 2 Thank you for purchasing the AES Bread Pressure Board System. Depending on how your unit was shipped, some items may be skipped as some assembly was completed prior to shipment. 1. Review the location for your system. You may need to adjust location to clear the moulder guide extensions (measuring rods). Make sure your placement allows the moulder guide extension arms to be fully retracted. Improper placement of the pressure board may result in the extension rods interfering with the pressure board system hinge and clamp mounts. For conveyor frames less than 32” in width please see addendum at bottom of instructions, prior to beginning installation. 2. Determine the hinge side. You may need to swap side supports from the way the system was assembled. Once that is determined, you may complete the assembly (if needed) of the Pressure Board System. If your unit was shipped partially assembled you will need to complete the assembly prior to beginning step 3. Your system was shipped with the two handle clamp assemblies (item 22 & 23) rotated down, you will need to loosen the handle/roller bar (item 23) by turning the handle, then rotate the assembly so the handle is approximately 90 degrees (vertical) from the pressure board. The handle is repositionable at any desired location simply by loosening the handle; this allows the handle to be positioned at an ergonomic position dependent on your pressure board gage height. Insert the roller tube (item 5) into the roller (item 6) add one aluminum collar standoff (item 20) on each side of the roller and add one, two piece collar clamp (item 25) to each side to contain the collar standoff (item 20). Slide one middle support rail assembly (item 2) onto the round roller tube (item 5), position it so the AES name is facing outwards and the spring block (item 4) is flush with the end of roller tube (item 5). Remove the two spring covers (item 18) tighten the setscrews located between each of the springs. Repeat this for the other side, making sure the AES logo is facing outward. 3. This step will calibrate the height gauge to your conveyor. You will need two pieces (spacers) of clean burr free 2” square tubes or bars approximately 30” ‐36” long to set the height of the AES Pressure Board Gauge. Place one 2” spacer on the conveyor bed near the front of the area you plan to place the pressure board and the other near the discharge (approximately 48” from the front spacer). With the spacers in place carefully set the pressure board assembly down on top of the spacers. Once in place, set both adjustment rollers (item 6) at the 2” reference mark on the side of the roller plates (item 10). You may need to tension the roller by adjusting the socket head cap screw located on top of each roller plate (items 10 & 11). This is an adjustment that should be loose enough to allow you to easily move rotate the adjustment roller (item 6) but tight enough to keep the pressure board from moving during production. For this installation step, please make sure it is tight and the height indicator is set at 2”. If you leave cardboard between the plastic pressure board and the spacers, please take the thickness of the cardboard into account when setting the gauge. 4. Your system was shipped with the cross bar (item 3) assembled with the rear upright (item 1). Slide one cross bar assembly (items 1 & 3) thru the square hole in middle rail support (item 2) continue sliding the square tube thru to the other square hole, making sure to hold the woodruff keys (item 26) in place. Adjust the cross bar assembly so the rear upright (item 1) is flush with the outside of the conveyor*(see addendum). Tighten the set screws located on the top of the middle support rail (item 2). Repeat for the other cross bar assembly, adjustment to the pressure board location will be completed in step 7. Locate the two upper Destaco mounts (item 13), slide them onto the end of each cross bar and place flush with the sides of the conveyor; be sure to hold the woodruff key (item 26) in place. Tap the rail plugs (item 21) into the end of the open cross bars (item 2) and tighten the setscrews on top of the two upper Destaco mounts (item 13). Locate the two lower Destaco mounts (item 14), and use the Destaco clamps to lock into place. 5. For conveyors less than 32” width please see addendum at the bottom of the instructions prior to starting the next step. 6. Make sure the rear uprights (item 1) and the upper and lower Destaco mounts (items 13 & 14) are adjusted so they are flush with the sides of your conveyor. If not, loosen the setscrews on the upper Destaco mount and slide so it is flush with the conveyor frame. Once the system is in the correct location and the spacers are set under the pressure board, you are ready to transfer the mounting holes from the lower Destaco mounts (item 14) and the rear uprights (item 1). This is best done using a transfer punch. You may want to clamp the plates in place (to the conveyor frame) to keep them from moving during this process. After holes are drilled, secure with hardware (not included). 7. You may want to adjust the pressure board side‐to‐side to center the pressure board with your bread dough. This can be done by loosening the 4 setscrews on the middle support rails (item 2) and sliding the entire pressure board assembly along the cross bar3 (item 3); retighten the setscrews when you are satisfied with the position. You may want to run your bread line to check that the dough is centered under the pressure board. 8. To adjust the amount of pressure on your system the springs can be tensioned by adjusting the jam nuts located under the spring covers (item 18). You will want to check that dough double and triples pass thru the system. The springs have been pre‐set them prior to shipping but will need to be checked with your requirements. ADDENDUM: IMPORTANT: IF YOUR CONVEYOR FRAME IS LESS THAN 32” WIDE YOU WILL NEED TO ADD SPACER BLOCKS (INCLUDED) BETWEEN THE CONVEYOR FRAME AND THE REAR UPRIGHTS (ITEM 1) PRIOR TO MOUNTING THE SYSTEM. Care and Maintenance: Do not use any sharp instruments to clean the plastic. If dough should get coated in the ribs, it is best to use compressed air, a stiff plastic brush, water or if necessary a plastic putty knife. Do not use any solvents on the plastic, and avoid caustics on the aluminum components. Due to the nature of plastic, avoid drilling screws into the plastic or any impact to the plastic. Periodically check the system for loose hardware and retighten as needed. If the numbered roller plate (item 10) or the blank roller plate (item 11) should become loose tighten the screw on top. Check the ribbed surface of the pressure board for wear and replace as needed. Your feedback on the system, suggestions and comments about our instructions is appreciated. Thank you.
