Part 1: News and Infos
1. Changes in IARUMS Region 1
EI5GXB (Ger) left our Monitoring Team followed by EI5DD (Steve). 4Z1AB (Amos) is the new national
MS coordinator of IARC (Israel). Our system has now 24 members! Welcome to our team dear Steve and
dear Amos!
2. CODAR on 14070 – 14125 kHz – still on
At the end of June the Codar was still active from North-East India. The complaint by the German PTT (BNetzA)
was not regarded.
3. 14295.1 Harmonic from Radio Tajik – no end
The complaints of the German, Swiss and British PTTs were not observed. Guess, what I found:
Harmonics from 4765 kHz (fundamental) were also strong audible on 19060.2 and 23825.2 kHz.
Now I am looking for another harmonic on 28580 kHz.
4. Dots from Gabon (Central Africa)
I remarked strange signals on 28346.1 and 28250.2 kHz. The burst transmissions were in A3E, carriers with dots
on both sidebands, no idents. Perhaps a new kind of fishery buoy? Sonagram: DK2OM with Wavecom W61
soundfile: http://www.iarums-r1.org/iarums/sound/28345.wav
- recordings by DK2OM
5. Mysterious siren on 18112.5 kHz
th
HB9CET (Peter) found this signal on 18112.5 kHz one June 6 . It was a carrier and both sidebands
modulated by siren sounding AF-signals. The location was Hanoi, Vietnam. The purpose is unkonwn.
Screenshot: DK2OM with Perseus --- soundfile: http://www.iarums-r1.org/iarums/sound/18112a.wav

ARSK MONITORING OVERVIEW FOR JUNE 2012
Propagation was not good overall, and again nothing of particular interest was heard apart from the usual broadcast
stations on 40 meters, Khartoum, Addis Ababa and Eritrea.
