Introduction
This report focuses on the Brazilian Aerospace Cluster, which was created in 1945 and its members comprise
commercial and military manufacturers of small and medium aircrafts along with embedded software for
space systems.
The Brazilian Aerospace Sector has developed due mainly to the strong technical and scientific base, fostered
by governmental institutions, academia and research institutes along with investment sources.
In such a context, the São Paulo region has concentrated the major companies in the aerospace sector, mainly
because larger companies established in such region, as EMBRAER. Additionally the major productive axe
(São Paulo – Rio de Janeiro) makes São Paulo a privileged place for technological development.

CECOMPI, is the Brazilian Aerospace Cluster coordinator and has the support of APEX-Brasil (Brazilian Trade
and Investment Promotion Agency) to develop new business opportunities between Brazilian and foreign
companies. Hence the Brazilian Aerospace Cluster is present at the main international aerospace events, and
also invites international companies to visit Brazil, so these companies can contact directly with companies
from the Cluster.
According to the cluster there are several reasons for the Brazilian Aerospace Cluster to be considered a high
technology group capable of supplying the international market, namely1:




Availability of training in order to build manpower capacity in aerospace engineering and production;
Availability of an installed industrial park with qualified staff;
Technological research with an increasing level of investments;

Governmental support and incentive focused on the aerospace sector;
Brazilian companies able to supply complete structural assemblies;
Brazilian OEM recognized worldwide;
Brazilian companies acting in the international market for more than 10 years;
Aerospace Culture;
Governance Group (composed by Associations, Non-government and Non-profit organizations,
Government, Education and Research institutions and companies) focused on the Brazilian
Aerospace Cluster strengthening, its internationalization and new business development, public
policies development and technological partnerships.
The main objective of this report is to provide contacts with local companies within the aeronautics, defence
and space sector, in order to facilitate business development.
It must be emphasize that Horizon 2020 foresees a partnership with Brazil, taking advantage of the language
and the presence of EMBRAER in our country; it is a good opportunity for the National industry.
