Statistical and Narrative Report Program: Portuguese Research Students AY: 2016/2017 FY: 2016 Officer in charge: Paula Lemos Date of report: May 11,2016 Contents 1. Brief description of the Program Grants: Fulbright Research Grant– all fields of study. Fulbright Research Grant – Public Health 2. Brief analysis of how the promotion, competition and selection process took place (planning, outreach, media, calendars, pool of evaluators, etc). Competitions took place during the month of January 2016. During the competition period we received email requests for information about these grants from 87 students. We recorded a webinar about the application process that was viewed 97 times. This webinar consisted of a full explanation of the grants conditions and requirements. We showed each and every page of the application form, highlighting the questions where applicants usually show more difficulty and describing where and how the additional documents should be uploaded. From the 37 applications received, 3 were ineligible (two candidates had already a doctorate and one candidate had a valid visa to the US). The remaining 34 applications were grouped in 16 panels: Medical Sciences Environmental Sciences Public Health Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Biomedical Engineering Industrial Engineering Energy Biological Sciences Economics Physics Tourism Psychology Sociology Geography Education and Languages Architecture These panels were reviewed by former and current Fulbright grantees in the correspondent fields of study.
