ACTIVITY: Surfing CASE: GSAF 2005.02.04 DATE: Friday February 4, 2005 LOCATION: The incident took place in the South Atlantic Ocean near Ilhéus, Bahia, Brazil. NAME: Antonio de Carvalho Miguel Pereira DESCRIPTION: The surfer is a 12-year-old male. BACKGROUND MOON PHASE: New Moon, February 8, 2005 ENVIRONMENT: The well-known Itacare Surf School and Itacare Surfcamp is a short distance north of Ilheus. It is not known if the boy was attending the school or staying at the camp, but conditions in the area attract many surfers. NARRATIVE: No details. INJURY: The boy sustained wounds to his right thigh and ankle. FIRST AID / TREATMENT: The injuries were not life-threatening, according to Marli da Silva dos Santos, a nurse at Hospital Geral Luis Viana Filho in Ilhéus, Bahia.
