Scientific Production, an overview
In the context of Latin America, Brazil has the best scientific
production. The State of São Paulo has the 2nd largest scientific
publication in Latin America.
Brazil invests 1% of its GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in research.
This represents the half percentage invested by OCDE countries, but
the same amount invested by China.
In the last two decades:
•
Brazilian participation in world scientific publication increased from 0,6% to
2,6%;
•
The number of PhDs in Brazil grew by ten times, going from 1000 to almost
10,000 professionals a year;
•
The scientific production of the top Brazilian Universities has doubled while
UNIFESP’s health publications has increased almost four times.
