SPI has been taking its experience in
automation to companies of various
sectors, among which is the food industry.
Kellogg, whose very name is synonym of
breakfast food, is one of those clients.
Technology has a decisive role to play in
their keeping the market leadership they
have.
Responsible for the daily production of 50
tons of cereal, the company has invested
on an innovative project with high returns.
SPI supplied a complete solution, with
electrical panels, configuration of Power
Flex invertors and softwares for two PLCs
of the SLC500 family. The PLCs
communicate in DH+ net with two graphic
IHMs PanelView900 and iFix supervisor
by Intellution. To manage alarms, events
and batches, we used the SCAE
software, developed by SPI itself.

Escope
The automation work contemplated the
boiling and drying areas. In the former,
the process involves the raw material
transportation system, five boilers, each
with capacity for preparing a ton of cereal
per batch and the transportation of the
boiled product to the drying area. In the
latter, the project contemplated the
automation of equipment with five heating
stages.
