The Carteret Twilight League, a reftrgwiizjition of old but operating under the direction of the Recreation Department, will provide the Carteret fans with plenty of baseball during the week, with two fara*e scheduled- weakly. The Pirates, managed by Bill Elliott, and the UkeR, managed by Gene Wadiak, both of whom play independent bell on Sundays besides participating in the Twilight Leggue, are lining: up henry schedules for the coming summer months. The Carteret Cards and the Carteret Orioles are also playing independent games and are booked heavily. In softball, there wilt be the usual activity in the Carteret Recreation Department, with a senior league and probably a girls' league iimilaf to the one aponsored last year. There will very likaly be wine, softball activity in the local plants, and we hear that the U. S. Metals Refinery is sponsoring a softball league of six teams, In addition, there will'be the usual heavy activity .in the Recreation Department with at least two leagues organized among the younger boys. There will be a junior league and a midget league, both of which wilt start after the schools clone for the Dimmer vacation season. < ' For those who are still interested in bowling, Matt Udzielak has formed a mixed doubles league, composed of both men and women, and he says the league will go through the summer months. SUNDRY STUFF There's plenty of activity in the major leagues these days, what with the Mexican League casting attractive and tempting offers to some of our big league stars who are reported to be underpaid, and the legal battles and injunctions that some of our own leagues are puting up to prevent an exodus of players across the border. It's all very interesting to watch from the sidelines. *•<#» t Prite'fl SMMU In% Opting S*f&dl League Cave, 74 CARTEWFT — Under threatening dries, the Carteret Recreation Twilight softuall league made Its debut Monday night before a larg* turnout at Leftrig's Field where Price's combine came from behind wrth a atx-run rally to defeat the Hungarian 3oclal Club by 7-S score. - SohWlLewK aim lM»i Fur Next rueiVt Garnet JpeasAtU O w e Wa4ls* of WW Ukea annotticad yukirdty that his tmlnwtH pH# at Nrth Amboy on flundty, and m Tuesday of newt wmk the toetta wlH travel to Camp Kilmer (or a gtme with the CAHTBR1TKilmer nir* at th« Btctton Reser- •oftbaU aa an vation. sport after a ft**-yMt inacUvHr due to the w«f «M I ee next Monday ldtirt i l l D. 8.
