Present Continuous=
To be + Verb+ing
Afirmative

isn´t + v+ing
aren´t + v+ing
am + pronoun + v+ing
is + pronoun + v+ing
are+ pronoun + v+ing
Forma Afirmativa: They are going to study tomorrow.
Forma Negativa: She isn´t going to the party tonight.
Forma Interrogativa: Are you going to Canada next year?
THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS IS USED…
1- para descrever algo que esta acontecendo agora.
(Ação)
Don’t turn the TV off. I’m watching it. (Não desligue a TV. Eu estou assistindo)
You can’t speak to Jane. She’s having a shower. (Você não pode falar com Jane. Ela está tomando banho)
2- para expressar uma atividade ou situação que é real agora, mas não esta necessariamente acontecendo no
momento que está sendo falado.
(Processo)
Don’t take that book. Jane’s reading it. (Não pegue este livro. Jane esta lendo)
I’m doing an English evening course this year. (Eu estou fazendo curso de inglês à noite este ano)
3- para expressar algo que é temporário.
(temporário)
Peter is a student, but he’s working as a barman during the holidays.
(Peter é estudante, mas ele está trabalhando como barman durante as férias)
I’m living with friends until I find a place of my own.
(Eu estou morando com amigos até encontrar um lugar pra mim)
4- para expressar algo que já está planejado e futuro.
I’m having lunch with Glenna tomorrow.
(Eu vou almoçar com a Glenna amanhã)
We’re meeting at 1:00 outside the restaurant.
(Nós nos encontramos amanhã à 1:00 na frente do restaurante)

EXCEÇÕES
1- Para formar o present continuous nós adicionamos - ing ao verbo.
go  going
wear  wearing
eat  eating
drink  drinking
2- Verbos que terminam com um - e nós removemos este – e.
smoke  smoking
come  coming
hope  hoping
write  writing
Mas verbos que terminam com - ee nós não o removemos.
agree  agreeing
see  seeing
3- Verbos com uma sílaba; consoante, vogal e consoante, dobramos a consoante.
stop  stopping
plan  planning
get  getting
jog  jogging
run  running
Mas se a ultima consoante é - y ou - w, nós não dobramos.
