In the big East-West LBA transect Manaus is so far the westernmost site.
With its shorter dry season, Manaus is in sharp contrast with the nearest
site, Santarem. It doesn’t have the direct ocean influence (more than 1000
km from the Atlantic) as the Caixiuanã and has much less disturbance in
