NOTICE OF RACE
1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 RSS Appendix P, Special Procedures for Rule 42, will apply.
1.3 The National Authority prescriptions will apply.
1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the original version of the document will take precedence.
2. ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display bow numbers and / or advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority (OA).
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 ISAF Eligibility according to ISAF Regulation 19 is required of all athletes.
3.2 Each athlete shall be registered as an ISAF Sailor on the ISAF website (www.sailing.org/isafsailor) and affiliated to a Regional
Sailing Federation or club in Brazil and in its Association Class.
3.3 The regatta is open to boats competing in these events: Olympic Classes and invited: Laser Radial Men and RS:X Young boy.
3.4 The eligibility rules of each class will apply. The membership fee of each Brazilian Class Association can be made at
registration.
3.5 Eligible boats must be registered by email ([email protected]) or at Race Office filling the attached Registration Form until the
dates bellow:
• July 11 - 49er, 49erFX e RS:X (Men and Women),
• July 15 - Nacra 17, Finn, Laser and Laser Rad. (Women and Men),
• July 19 - 470 (Men and Women).
4. FEES
The entry fee per sailor will be:

5.2 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is at 12h. On the last day for each class the time limit for
the warning signal is 17h.

5.4 If necessary, one extra race per day may be sailed since no races ahead of the schedule.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTION:
Will be available in the Race Office at registration on 11 July 2016.
7. VENUE:
7.1 The venue will be at Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro, located at Pasteur Avenue 333- Praia Vermelha–Rio de Janeiro - RJ.
7.2 The race areas will be in Guanabara Bay. There will be a rotation of race areas for all Classes.
8. THE COURSES
The courses will be Windward/Leeward or Trapezoid.
9. PENALTY SYSTEM
9.1 RSS Appendix P, Special Procedures for Rule 42, will apply.
9.2 Jury decision will be final as provided in Rule 70.5(b).
9.3 For the Nacra 17, 49er e 49er FX Classes, RRS 44.1 and RRS P2.1 are changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by
the One-Turn Penalty.
10. SCORING
10.1 RRS Appendix A will apply. RRS
10.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta.
10.3 When fewer than 05 (five) races have been completed, no score shall be excluded. When 05 (five) or more races have been
completed, a boat’s score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
11. COACH BOATS AND SUPPORT PERSONNEL
11.2 The support boats must be registered with the Race Office of the Event.
11.3 Support boats shall display the 3 letter national code of their ISAF Member National Authority at all times while afloat clearly
visible from both sides of the boat. The minimum size for the letters shall be 200 mm.
12. BERTHING
There will be no mandatory stay of the boat sat the Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro. However the boats opting to stay can only stay in
the club, as described below:

PS.: Will be charged a hundred reais per day for each member of the team (sailor, coach, etc.) for breach of permanence period in
the club.
13. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
Except in an emergency or using equipment provided by the Organizing Authority, a boat shall not make or receive radio
transmissions including text messages or cellular phone calls while racing.
14. PRIZES
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 boats in each event.
15. MEDIA RIGHTS
By participating in the event competitors automatically grant to the Organizing Authority, their sponsors and ISAF the right in
perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and
other reproductions of the athlete during the period of the competition without compensation.
16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk and they are reminded of the provisions of RRS 4, Decision to Race.
Sailing is by nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor
agrees and acknowledges that:
(a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves,
their crew and the boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the regatta;
(b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and heir other property whether afloat or ashore;
(c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
(d) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organiser does not
relieve them of their own responsibilities;
(e) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically
provided in the circumstances.
The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or
prior to, during, or after the regatta.
