03/01/2014: Scott, WA5A, will be active from Ruaka, Kenya, around the first week in January, 2014. QRV holiday style on the HF
bands as 5Z4/WA5A until about 28th January. QSL via home call. [DX World]
03/01/2014: Francis, F6BLP, will again be QRV as 6W7SK from Saly Portudal, Senegal, between 3-31 January, 2014. QRV mainly CW
on 80-10 metres. If posible he also hopes to be active on 160M with an Inverted L. QSL via LoTW, eQSL,

03/01/2014: Look for OG0A to be active on the low bands and WARC bands between 3-13 January 2014. The OH0X contest site
(Brando Island - EU-002, WW Loc.
KP00MK) will be used as the base camp with 160m slopers for the US and Japan and a 2-L 80m beam atop a 42-metre (140ft)
rotating tower. Main activity will be on CW, but SSB/RTTY will also be used occasionally. Operators include Mari OH2FPK (YL),
Rami OH2BCI, Martti OH2BH, Pertti OH2PM and Pekka OH2TA. QSL via OH2BH.
Online log will be hostd by ClubLog. This operation is dedicated to the Youth On The Air (YOTA) summer camp due to be organized
in Finland from July 15 through July 22, 2014 with two young YLs - Mari, OH2FPK and Kati, OH2FKX - in charge.
All OQRS QSL requests for OF9X and OG0A with donations will be directed to cover the costs of this healthy youth activity in

04/01/2014: Vittorio, I2GPT will be active as 5H1VC from Zanzibar Island (AF-032, WLOTA 1080, WWFF 5HFF-003) from 4-12th
January 2014 as 5H1VC.
Operations will be in CW and, for the first time, in RTTY ("it's the very first time for me in this mode, so be patient."). Bands: 40 to 10

04/01/2014: Mike, OE1SSS, will be active from the Kandooma Resort, island of Kandooma Fushi, South Male Atoll, Maldive Islands

04/01/2014: Jakob, OZ7AEI, will be homecall/p on 4 January 2014 and will activate the beautiful open moors at Harrild Hede
(WWFF OZFF-102), located in Central Jutland, Denmark. Activity will start in the afternoon on 40m and 20m.

09/01/2014: Andy, DL6AP, will be active (weather permitting) as DL6AP/p on 9 January 2014 from the Nature Reserve Unteres
Recknitztal (WWFF DLFF-152) and castle Slawenburg Carnitz (WCA DL-03591, COTA-DL MVB-322). QRV starting 1300 UTC on
7.024 MHz (+/-) and higher Flora-Fauna frequencies. QSL via home call, bureau

09/01/2014: Alex, M6CFW, will once again be active as XU7AEU from Phnom Penh between 9-14th January 2014. QRV on the HF
bands, mainly PSK with some SSB, using FT-897D and various antennas. Alex will post his log to eQSL immediately, Clublog at the

end of the trip and LoTW. QSL cards are available direct via his home callsign of M6CFW in England, along with a self addressed

17/02/2014: IR2A is a "New Entry" for the next 11th Antarctic Activity Week. This callsign, which has been used for the first time 25
years ago by IK2HTW during one of the very first Antarctic celebrations is now been issued to Giovanni Terzaghi Giovanni ("John")
IK2JYT by the Ministry of Communication to be used during the Antarctic Activity Week (17-23 February). IR2A will maintain the
original WAP reference WAP-003, issued on 1998. A nice opportunity though to

SPECIAL EVENTS 03/01/2014: Special event station 8J3ZUKA is currently QRV on all bands and modes until 31 March 2015 to celebrate Takarazuka(city)'s Triple Anniversay - (1) The 100th Anniversary of The Takarazuka Revue, (2) The 60th Anniversary of
Takarazuka-city and (3) The 20th Anniversary of The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum.

03/01/2014: Special station 8J9OKB is now active on all bands and modes until 28 February 2014. Activity is for the Campaign for

03/01/2014: The callsign EI30T (Echo India Three Zero Tango) has been issued to Justin EI3CTB as a special callsign to use during
2014 to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of his amateur radio licence issued in 1984. This is the first time
the prefix EI30 has been issued. Please QSL direct (Justin Behan, 25 Birchdale Road, Kinsealy Court, Kinsealy, Co Dublin, Ireland)
including $2 and a self addressed envelope or with OQRS. Cards without return postage will be returned

08/01/2014: Poland - 120th birthday of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe (SP3RN) and the 75th anniversary of Radio Niepokalanow - St.
Maximilian founded the first private radio station in Poland, Radio Niepokalanow. As only government broadcasting stations were
allowed in the 1920's, he was permitted orally to use rather an amateur callsign for test transmissions. After a course of training in
amateur radio, he chose the SP3RN callsign and transmitted near the 40 m amateur radio band in 1938. St. Maximilian was
murdered in the German Nazi Auschwitz
Concentration Camp after he volunteered his life for the life of another inmate who had been randomly sentenced to death. The
following special-event stations will operate to celebrate the two Anniversaries: 3Z120SMK II2SMK (8-28 January 2014) and
HF120MK SN0MMK SN120MK SN120MMK; HF0RN SN0RN SN75RN (8 January – 14 August 2014). QSL via the operators'

08/01/2014: W1AW, Centennial Stations. Look for W1AW/7 operated from K7CO West Jordan, Utah, and W1AW/4 operated from

Italy: QSL cards will become more expensive - It will become more expensive to send a QSL card from Italy. From today (30
December 2013) on, till entire 2016, the QSL traffic will become more costly for the Italian QSL Managers. A series of increases in
postal rates will affect Italian radio amateurs in a short time. Unfortunately, the cost to send a letter (0-20 gr.) will pass from the
average 0,70 Euro to 0,95 Euro thanks to the National Communication Authority (AGICOM) that gave the green light for a series of
increases of the Italian postal rates from today to 2016. Other increases are planned, with the same logic also over the registered letter
of the same rage 0-20 gr. That is, by case, the average weight of an amateur radio QSL. [DxCoffee]

band noise) for an upcoming group DXpedition planned for April. Dale, BA4TB, who is part of the team, may also visit
the island sometime next month to finalise site selection. At this stage, BA7CK is an official operation, but he can only accept eQSL.

IOTA BASH 2014 The dates for this years IOTA Bash is 14th-15th March 2014. The event will be held in Boerne, Texas, near San Antonio. Guest
speakers thus far include Mike K9AJ, Christian EA3NT and myself Mike AB5EB. Further updates to follow.

Interferência provocada pela QRG 6.090 kHz da Bandeirantes SP
Já faz tempo que a frequência de 6.090 kHz da rádio Bandeirantes SP provoca espúrio severo entre as QRGs 5.900 kHz e 6.010 kHz.
Acima de 6.190 kHz percebem-se também espúrios da Bandeirantes SP. Por mais que a gente alerte sobre tal interferência, a
emissora ignora. A rádio Inconfidência e a mais prejudicada, pelos menos aqui no meu QTH a recepção é péssima. A Bandeirantes é
uma das poucas emissoras de rádio no Brasil que mantêm três ondas curtas.

We have five slots filled and have room for about four more or so.
Another prominent fester who shall go unnamed and is already presenting a forum anyway suggested the following, which I can
heartily endorse:
"For other forums (forii?) I think more information about truly effective indoor SWL antennas would be excellent; this is becoming
much more important as so many neighborhoods are now covered by outrageously restrictive covenants, and with the local Flower
Fascists running around any kind of wire is nearly impossible to hide.
Loop Antennas (Redux) would be good.
Helpful hints for receiving DRM would be nice, especially since nobody is really directing DRM (much less SW BC of any kind) to
North America."
Anyone willing/able to tackle one or more of these? Or would you like to suggest something of your own choosing? Please let me
know ASAP so we can round out the program and publish it for all to see and wonder over.

Saudações a todos. Inicialmente, desejo a todos um feliz ano novo com muitas realizações a todos os participantes da lista.
Raramente eu participo, mas garanto que constantemente acompanho as mensagens dos colegas participantes aqui na lista.
A matéria publicada no último boletim me deixou muito feliz, relatando as montagens com equipamentos regenerativos.Eu sempre
comparei as montagens deste com as montagens em QRP para os radioamadores, ambas simples e efetivas.
Para tal, esta lista é dedicada aos radioescutas e gostaria de sugerir entre os colegas ou até mesmo para o DXCB porque não fazer um
concurso anual, onde o principal é a caça efetiva de figurinhas? Seja através da escuta de radioamadores ou então das emissoras
comerciais, seja com receptores regenerativos ou então equipamentos comerciais.
Olhem as vantagens, no final do ano terão mais confirmações, poderão receber mais certificados e ainda manterão a lista mais ativa.
Afinal, é uma grande forma de incentivar os seus participantes anualmente.
Fica aí minha sugestão.

3 – Dos relatórios: Os logs (escutas) deverão ser enviados em ordem crescente de horário, ou seja, do primeiro indo até o último,
na seqüência.

Introduction
Hello, my name is David, I live in Kentucky in the USA. I was first introduced to SWL when I was 11 or 12 years old, waaaay back in
the early 1960's. I saved up my allowance and bought myself a Heathkit GR-64 receiver which I still have today. The second receiver I
acquired for free was a WWII vintage Minerva Tropic Master. I drifted away from SWL when girls became more interesting to me. In
1987 after my divorce I got the SWL bug once again and purchased a Yaesu FRG-8800 which I'm still using today. In about 1992 work
responsibilities made me drift away from SWL again. Now I'm retired and decided to dust off the old FRG-8800 this month. What a
surprise to discover that some of my favorite stations are no longer broadcasting on SW...including CBC Radio Canada, Radio
Moscow, BBC, Radio Netherland, and VOA to name a few. I also can't believe all the powerful religious stations that are broadcasting
in this country today. That's all for now.

FRANCE (presumably): OROMO VOICE via ISSOUDUN 17850. Brief e-mail from Fekadu stating my report was valuable to them
and requesting future reports. This was received 21 minutes after I sent a report of their January 8 broadcast to
[email protected]. About 20 minutes after the end of their January 4 broadcast I sent a report to [email protected] but so far
have had no response.
These broadcasts surely must be via Issoudun, although some have suggested Kostinbrod. Not only because of the French (RFI?)
heard when they were having problems on January 1, but SINFO was 55555 today and signal strength for all 3 broadcasts was
excellent—a huge signal actually. For comfortable listening on either speaker or headphones I had to turn the volume almost all the
way down. And at my location very strong signals are the usual for broadcasts to the Horn of Africa from France as well as Germany.

envia UA4-156-1113 Eugene S Sitnikov.
Me agrada mucho el que me lleguen este tipo de tarjeta QSL las que
contesto primero que todas las demas y las envio directa. En mi
sobre incluyo: mi QSL de Ham, una bandera de Puerto Rico y
cualquier otra cosa que haga sentir a este caballero, que su esfuerzo
por hacerse un radioaficionado comenzando por la Onda Corta ha
valido la pena. Mientras en estos horizontes nuestros se pretende

Desde hace mucho se escucha acerca de las tormentas, llamaradas, erupciones y demas fenomenos solares y su afectacion sobre las
señales de radio, algunos escuchas optan por apagar sus radios durante estos periodos ante una perspectiva de escuchar solo ruido,
otros mas curiosos intentan dar palos de ciego explorando diversas bandas para tratar de escuchar (rescatar) algo de entre el ruido.
El secreto para saber que hacer, esta en conocer la informacion en cifras de lo que el sol nos envia, saber que quieren decir estas
cifras, teniendo esto en mente decidi hacer un pequeño articulo en mi bloq para que sepamos en donde sintonizar o si vale la pena

a time to add up to 72 transmitter-hours per day instead of only 48 in Dec.
9690, Jan 11 at 1425, I am forced to stop and keep listening to 80-year-old Brother Scare via WRMI, since he is talking about his
further expansion plans. Says the bill just arrived from his new station #8, three months to be paid in advance = $253,344. Implies
the deal is not final quite yet?
1428 interrupts himself as of Friday night Jan 10. Going from 25 SW transmitters/frequencies worldwide to 31 with the six more on
World Harvest Radio. Will add up to over 200 hours per day for the next 3 months, until Passover in April. Now again says to start
today Sat Jan 11 on WHR.
Meanwhile at 1437-1442 I do a complete bandscan from 49m thru 13m and find zero WHR signals, let alone WHR with BS. Finally at
1519 I find one WHRI, on 21630 as usual on Saturdays, with some other huxter. Could be on T8WH 9930 hiding under WTWW! I
haven`t heard him mention Palau as two or three of the six WHR transmitters; is he aware of that?
BS is making a big deal of Ariel Sharon dying today, since he was an Israeli, somehow connecting this with the End Times.
Numerology is also a big deal with this wacko.
BS goes on to a further plan: some friendly US SW broadcaster (where he is apparently not on yet), has offered to acquire, install and
operate another transmitter to be dedicated to TOM only, and let it be owned by TOM (unlike all the others so far, apparently). This
would cost from $50K to $100K and would become the ``Seventh Angel``. Would take a few months to set up; more about this in a
few days. He also says some seven more SW transmitters are available abroad, and their rates are coming down.
The LDPOG apparently has no concept that buying up time on more and more US SW stations is only duplicating coverage over and

over. Just one or two of them at most, running 24 hours on at least one day and one night frequency would give him total coverage of
the continent. But none of the stations are going to explain this to their cash-cow. Perhaps his goal is to be on every band at every
hour, so random tuners cannot avoid running into him, even 4 or 5 frequencies on a band, like 31m already infested.
At 1435 I notice that BS on WRMI 11825 is dead air, and by 1443, so is 9690, while meantime I have switched to 9930 for a better,
and modulated signal via WTWW. Both 9690 and 11825 resume modulating by 1459 for the live Sabbath service.

“Alô, Alô, ouvintes: uma história do rádio em Bauru” é muito mais que um importante documento
de pesquisa sobre o rádio e seu desenvolvimento em Bauru. Apontada como inédita pelo autor, João
Francisco Tidei Lima, a obra – que será lançada na próxima terça-feira, dia 14, às 19h, na Jalovi – é
um convite para aprender história e entender as principais mudanças numa época “fervorosa” no
País, que atravessou as décadas de 40, 50, 60 e início dos anos 70.

Um dos enfoques da publicação é sobre a relação e as consequências para a rádio no período em que o Brasil viveu os chamados “anos
de chumbo” da ditadura militar. Se engana quem pensa que os veículos de comunicação do Interior não sofreram a mesma censura
dos das capitais.
Em Bauru, as três emissoras relatadas no livro – PRG-8, Auri-Verde e Terra Branca – ao mesmo tempo em que buscavam se adequar
à nova realidade da revolução nas comunicações, também ficaram expostas, de uma forma ou de outra, aos efeitos da nova
conjuntura política conturbada pelos fatos que culminaram no Golpe Militar de 1964.
Paixão
Apesar de professor e historiador, João Francisco assumiu cargo de gerência na Rádio Auri-Verde; e também chegou a atuar como
comentarista. “A rádio era uma espécie de um bico. Dividia a atividade com as aulas de história”, contou. Apaixonado por rádio desde
a infância, ele quis fazer o livro pelo gosto que sempre teve por este veículo. “O livro tem também característica autobiográfica. Meu
pai gostava muito de ouvir rádio, ligava e ouvia o dia todo”, afirma.
Sobre a importância da obra, o autor ressalta que o livro fornece uma síntese da história que vai desde a fundação do rádio em Bauru
até o início dos anos 70. Assim, o leitor pode ter acesso a um importante panorama econômico, político e também das mudanças
sociais e como elas afetaram os meios de comunicação desde a década de 30. “Faço referência também não só às rádios, mas a outros
veículos da cidade”, sublinha o escritor.
Além de textos valiosos para estudantes de comunicação e demais interessados em história da cidade e do rádio, a publicação é
recheada de imagens que mostram personalidades importantes da época, além dos primórdios e percurso deste importante veículo de
comunicação em Bauru.
Sobre um eventual fim do rádio com a chegada das novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação, o autor diz que o veículo
continuará a desempenhar seu papel. “Ele vai continuar sobrevivendo pelas suas especificidades - a perenidade, a sua originalidade.
O rádio é portátil, podemos levá-lo para qualquer lugar. Ele tem especificidades que nenhum outro meio de comunicação tem”,
atesta.
Lembranças
Uma das riquezas do livro é que ele traz, com detalhes, situações da época da ditadura enfrentada pelos veículos de comunicação.
Quando criou-se nas redações dos jornais, das emissoras de rádio e de televisão a figura do censor. João Francisco traz à tona
lembrança importante vivida naquele momento:
“Quando se instalou a ditadura militar, um dos membros da família Simonetti – o Sica, era plantonista/âncora da rádio PRG-8. E ele,
junto ao Tobias Ferreira e o chefe do setor técnico foram chamados ao quartel. E o comandante da PM disse precisamente o seguinte:
“Olha, os senhores estão proibidos de noticiar qualquer ação repressiva e também devem terminar todos os noticiários com a seguinte
palavra de ordem: Reina a mais absoluta calma em todo o País ”, recorda.

Sagrado Coração (USC) e pós-graduação pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP), João Francisco Tidei de Lima possui especialização
no Institut Européen des Hautes Études Internationales, Universidade de Nice, França. É ainda responsável pela organização do
arquivo ferroviário depositário de toda a documentação escrita, impressa e fotográfica da antiga Estrada de Ferro Noroeste do Brasil,
disponibilizado para o público desde 1995 ao lado da Estação Ferroviária da praça Machado de Melo, em Bauru.

Jonas, que tragédia se transformou a Voz da Rússia!
Uma programação, aparentemente, feita no Brasil, portanto, nada a ver com a cultura e política russa. Desgosto total!
Além disso, novamente os crápulas tiraram da página da emissora o link que informa frequências e grade de
programação. Um pessoalzinho burro pra caramba. Não existe mais os links de programas gravados. Por exemplo,
procurei o "Clube de amigos" de outra data para escutar e não existe. Mas os idiotas colocaram um texto escrito que
confunde o internauta. Eu não quero ler sobre os programas, quero escutá-los de novo.
A emissora desapareceu das ondas curtas de 31 metros, que aliás, funcionam muito ruim nesta época. Como o site dos
perfeitos idiotas não consta a lista de frequência, estou perdido sem saber onde está a Voz da Rússia.
Por que isso? Que brincadeira é essa de fazer rádio? Se você encontrar um desses idiotas que bagunçou com o site da
emissora e com a qualidade da programação, de a ele minha saudação de ano novo: que ele vá pro inferno.

something. 1029:30 nice canned ID by M, then echo intro by M for the daily tlk segment by 2 men hosts. Mentioned onda
corta during the discussion at 1042. Fading starting to chop up the signal by 1045, but still nearly 100% copy. The discussion
continued all the way until Rebelde signed on at 1058:48. Nice of them to stay off during peak Quillabamba time today. (30

6199.57 R. Action Signal here from 0721 start. Definite mx at 0731-0732 but just couldn't recog. it. Rock mx coming up a
little at 0742, 0744. Sound like M anncr at 0753. Definite M anncr at 0803. A little more mx rising up again
slightly at 0835. Mostly right at threshold. Those brief peaks were only just a little above, so nothing really
substantial. QRM from the annoying machine gun UTE, and then blasted out at 0900 by 6195. Could still see the
signal though at 0930 during a brief break from 6195. ID per the blogs. (25 Dec.)
6208.91 CWR Signal here at 2342 but not strong enough for audio. (see below) (25-26 Dec.)

return. Mod. still to low to recogn. The horrible 6195 Cypress Creek SC slop didn't help either. 0933:36 canned
jingle. They have to be running around 500w as it was as strong as R. Mistletoe. Still there at 0955. (25 Dec.)

audio by 2030, mx at 2032, and anmnt at 2033, but not good enough to copy. 2036 another anmnt w/ment of

6244.94 R. Ronex Signal came on at 0842:59. Some strains of mx right at threshold at 0846-0848. Totally hammered by
the machine gun UTE for a long time later. Still barely visible with the recording stopped at 0955. (25 Dec.)

26 December 2013: Since I was getting a lot of local noise in the 48m Pirate band which started around 0000, I
decided to take the Eton E1 and do a quick micro-DXpedition as an experiment to see how reception differed.
Used 315' of old wire clipped to the whip, and recorded on the Sharp MD recorder. Layed the wire out along the
road which was 355°. Not exactly in line with Europe, but that’s the best I could do on short order. The quiet
location really helped. There was a big difference on CVC/The Voice Asia and Powerliner. Conditions improved
too after about 0120. I was even able to get a little audio from CWR before they went off. It got cold and was
downright brutal when outside rolling up the wire at the end. It was a good confirmation as to how much local
noise I've been getting over the holiday.
6290 R. Mistletoe “I Like Christmas” by Ali Lohan at 0042 start of recording, 0045 song anmnt and ment of R.
Borderhunter, then “Santa’s Got a Brand New Bag”. 0100 ID and list of stns on the naughty/nice list, into “Little
Saint Nick”. Closing anmnt at 0110, church bells, and off. Very fady. (26 Dec.)
6295 R. Mistletoe IS, "Man of Action", and right into "Santa Claus' Party", 0935 anmnt w/"R. Mistletoe Chirstmas
show", and more Christmas mx. 1015 strongest signal on the band at this time. Could hear some mx and possibly
tlk at times, but just too late. "So This is Christmas" per chat at 1031, and was able to hear the chorus. 1033:40
start of final announcement. From the chat, it looks like R. Verona came on after Mistletoe closedown. (25 Dec.)
6299.99 R. Powerliner Int. 2345 sounded like a pleasant Dutch song. Then some awful local noise started. (see below)

into "Last Christmas" by George Michael. Before I caught the ID, confirmed it was Marabu by Dr. Tim. Some nice
peaks during the night. "Europes alternative music" jingle at 0834, and a canned ID at 0840 between songs. (25

9935L Baltic Sea R. Found they were on here from the chat, tuned in, and could barely hear mx at 1321. Sounded like
anmnt at 1323 before I tuned away. Much much too weak, but definitely there. (26 Dec.)
21455 R. Borderhunter 1547 greetings. 1600 great peak when acknowledged e-mail from John Herkimer. Was getting S5
local noise which ruined reception. Mentioned upcoming low power test. Started at 1621 cutting the power down
to 150w. Over the next 20 min. went all the way down to 500mw but could only copy it down to 2 watts. Switched
to 13960 at 1657 and did another test, although this freq was weaker and didn't have as much success here. Went
into a QSO w/Dr. Benway at 1742. (27 Dec.)
RWANDA
6055 R. Rwanda Apparently staying on late for Christmas Eve. 2102 M and W anncrs hosting. Some laughing. 2104:40
"Jingle Bells" on organ and vcl by M and chorus persumably in Kinyarwanda!! 2108 M and W returned. Still going
at 2142 w/incredibly strong signal. W anncr singing and giggling/laughing. 2153 several IDs and ment of
"Internet". 2200 shouting, heavy breathing, shouted Rwanda many times. Baby crying. Then everyone in the
studio singing "Happy Birthday". Sounded like they had too much egg nog. Finally they calmed down a little by at
2202 and they took sev. phone callers. (24 Dec.)
6055 R. Rwanda 2101:30 everyone in the studio singing Happy Birthday to a phone caller. Stayed on late of course.
2158 ment of celebration, "December time", and then some shouting by all in the studio and immediately into live speech.

DJ. Getting very fady after 0920. 0952-1000 good and nearly 100% copy w/New Years Eve lottery pgm w/Joan and Paul
hosts, conch shell blowing and ID anmnt, then into nx. Still going after 1100 but 5940 China causes some slopover QRM at
that time. Much better on the Delta Loop than the Wellbrook. (31 Dec.)
9545 A definite signal here at 2035. Nothing else is listed. Will have to camp on this freq before 2000 to see if SIBC

Hindi. Came back later was taking many many phone calls in the second half hour. 0158 M caller started
w/”Halleluiah…good morning…”. The anncer also answered Halleluiah but didn’t seem to share the enthusiasm.
Hard to believe this used to be so difficult and could never get a readable copy. (26 Dec.)

5895 There was just a short 2 min. clear window from 2200 when 5890 WWCR went off and before 5895 DRM started
at 2202, but nothing was heard or seen of the sked LLE-3 xmsn from Norway. (26 Dec.)
6225 UNID. Noticed an OC here at 2027. Aired different pitch test tones after 2036 until it went off at 2046. Wonder

Europirate 6299.98 UNID. Only peaking above the noise floor abt 70% of the time from 2028. No chance for
audio. This went off at 2055:32. One of the guys in the chat said he thought it was Omejan. (25 Dec.)
6305.7 Found a signal here creating a het with Marabu around 0128. Sounded like a Dutch Pop song, and caught short
anmnts at 0130 and 0131 but just couldn’t copy. Went off shortly after that, probably because he realized Marabu
