GENERAL INFORMATION
What kind of event is this?
The ArtGym Mad Powermoves is a recent International championship of Urban Dancing held in
Portugal, and it is the only championship privileging the competitive Powermoves (Break
dance).
There will be a diversity of championships in different styles such as Best Choreography Group,
Best Solo Contest, all Styles Battle and Buoying/Bgirling Battle.
During the event you will have the privilege of watching exhibitions of invited guests, such as
the winners of the recent talent show `` Portugal has Talent ´´ the ArtGym Company amongst
other surprises.

*There will be an internal itinerary indicating transport schedules and breakfast/meals times.
This however will only be for special guests and for those who have booked the full package
and for that reason the itinerary will only be given to the guests and those who have
purchased the full package.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATION OF THE EVENT
Venue of Event and Competition area:
The Event will be taking place in the Complex Desportivo da Maia (sports hall), which will be
adapted for this event. The competition/exhibition area will have the following dimension 9m
x 9m. The Organizing Committee will have the right to restarts should it be deemed necessary
and undertakes to inform all those involved in the event.
All competitors will have their own viewing stands where they can watch the event
comfortably and in a controlled manner. There will also be change rooms where the
competitors can change and freshen up. Adjacent to the competition arena there will be a
panel of judges, who, in turn, will be judging 4 categories, them being all Styles Battle, Best
Choreography Groups, Powermoves Battle e Best Solo Contest, and in the Bboying Battle there
will be three judges. Behind the competition arena there will be a warm up area for
competitors or groups, with 8m x 8m. In this area they will wait to be called upon by the
speaker of the competition to perform their routine. Seeing that this warm up area may have
space limitation, the competitors who feel that they need either more time or space to warm
up or practice their routine must do so on their own accordance and look for other spaces out
of the warm up area or the actual arena. The competitor will be required to be at the warm up
area at the time stipulated by the OC, failure to do so may be reason enough for
disqualification. In the exhibition area there will be side-arenas, destined for side-battles and
extra competition which will take place on the 11th and 12th of June. The categories of the side
battles are still to be determined. The arena will be equipped with sound and lighting in
accordance to the event.
Accreditation
On your arrival you will be required to do your accreditation at the accreditation Office
(NOTE: there will be indications\directions to the respective office).Failure to do your
accreditation will not permit you to circulate freely and be entitled to the perks that
come with your accreditation. To be able to do your accreditation you have to present
a valid document of your identity either by form of an identity card or passport. Also
no tickets will be sold at the accreditation office. The tickets will be available on-line or
at the ticket office at the venue.
Full Packs – Accommodation \Transport\Meals:
The Organizing committee of the ArtGym Mad Powermoves have for those interested
in full packs which include accommodation, meals and transport to and from the
venue, you will be able to choose the packages accordingly .The concept behind these
packages are so that our competitors do not have to concern themselves about
anything, thus insuring that they can appreciate and enjoy the whole competition with
the highest comfort.
The packages are as follows:
•Full Packs (Class A - (Single room / meal /transport/insurance) (95 EUR/day/person)
•Full Pack (Class B - (Double room / meal /transport/insurance) (75 EUR /day/person)
•Full Pack (Class C - (Triple room / meal /transport/insurance) (60 EUR /day/person)
•Full Pack (Hostel, bed/meals/transport/insurance) (50 EUR /day/person)
For those who do not want to opt for a full pack you will be able to purchase the meals
at a cost of 7.50€ per meal. The meals include bread\soup\main course, soft
drink/water, salads and dessert.
Transports
The organizing committee will provide all transports to and from the event for those
who have acquired the full pack, these transports include collection at the local airport
or at the train station (Campanhã) and of course we will also do the departure of the
competitors. All those using the transport of the organizing committee will be asked to
be on time at the points of collection, failure in doing so may result in you being left
behind and be responsible for your method of transportation. Should you require an
alteration in your collection time please advise the OC and we will see whether it is
possible to change.
Other services
At the event there will be a BAR/canteen during open in the hours of the event for all those
who want to snack or eat a meal. This will be open to the public and to competitors .There will
also be Video&Fotos, where you will be able to place an order in HD in digital format, and you
will be able to take home with you the amazing experience you had at our event and of your
fantastic performance. Of course no event is an event if it doesn't have detail merchandise
marking the MAD POWER MOVES, where you can take a peace of the magic home with you.

Championship Regulation
Enrolment
The enrolment to the championship is done on an individual enrolment form, and is to be filled
in a clear and legible manner so that we can then do the joining of the groups, this in the case
of groups. The first part of the enrolment is to be done online using the following link:
http://www.acroteam.org/home/artgym-mad-powermoves/. After you have done the
enrolment online you will receive an email from the Organising Committee with all the
instructions and you are to follow the instructions and conclude with the payment, which is
done by means of bank transfer to the IBAN provided. Then you are to send the proof of
payment together with all the declarations asked for, this is vital for the enrolment. On page
13 there are the rules and explanations on how to fill in the enrolment document correctly.
Music
The choice of music set up and effects are left to the criteria of the competitor or group. The
Organizing Committee requests that you try and contain your song choice and that does not
contain foul language or language that is insulting.
It is required that you send your music by email to the O.C. Prior to your arrival and that you
bring with you a copy of your music as back up in a pen. The respective responsible person of
the group or competitors must send the music in MP3 format until the 7th June to the
following email [email protected] with the following label:
* Subject “Best Choreography Group Junior”, Sub Heading Name of group/competitor and
name of group + Nº total elements + Country/Town
* Subject “Best Choreography Group Adults” Sub Heading Name of group/competitor and
name of group + Nº total elements + Country/Town
*Subject “Best Solo Contest”, Name +Birth Date + ID number /Passport Nº
In the event of Powermoves Battle, Bboying / Bgirling Battle e All Styles Battle, the choice of
music will be the sole responsibility and choice of the organizing committee of the event.
Clothing and personal items
All competitors will be responsible for their own clothing and personal items during and after
their performance, the Organizing Committee will not permit clothing that contain images and
sayings which are of violent or offensive insults. All intimate parts of the body must be covered
at all times.
SPECIFIC REGULATIONS
Powermoves Battle
1. Destined to 8 competitors whom have been chosen and invited by the committee of
the event, who are going to battle to the sound of music and they will not know which
tracks have been chosen for them to battle too.
2. The battles for the competitors will be drawn, this way the decision will be impartial.
In the elimination only 4 powermovers will be advancing to the Semi-finals, as a result
of the semi-finals will we have the finalists for the Final.
3. Every powermover will have two entries in each battle, this is exception for the
finals, as in the finals they will make three entries, the duration of the entire is
according to each powermover needs.
4. The panel of judges consists of 3 elements who will judge the competitors looking
for the crucial moves and criteria.
5. The specific criteria’s of the evaluation are: Correction of execution, fluent
movements, consistency of the elements in the transitions, musicality and originality.
6. In case of a draw in a battle of powermovers, they will each have to do one more
entire, for the draw to be broken. This extra can never be evaluated as a draw as all
three judges will have to decide which competitor they have pointed on.
7. Any anti sportsman attitude which involves offensive physical or verbal offenses,
either towards the public or towards the judges/other, competitors will automatically
be disqualified and asked to leave the event immediately.
Best Choreography Group Junior
1. Is destined for groups of 5 elements onwards without any limitation, with ages of up
to 16 years of age.
2. The duration of the group performance must be within the following timing,
minimum 1:30 minutes and maximum of 2 minutes without any break in the
performance.
3.The participation in the event of the junior class will only be permitted if maximum
of up to 50% of the group do not exceed 16 years of age at the date of the
championship, if the percentage is higher the group will automatically be pushed up to
the adult class.
4. The panel of judges consist of 4 judges who will judge the groups with the criteria
which appear later in the regulations.
5. The maximum of points given per group is 20 points.
5. The Points given by the judges will determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The 2nd
and 3rd place will be entitled to receive medals, the 1st will receive a gift pack which
contains 100 EUR, T-shirt and cap with the Artgym Mad Powermoves.
6. In case of a draw, the group with the higher points award in technical and the
movement correction will be consider winner.
7. Any anti sportsman attitude which involves offensive physical or verbal offenses,
either towards the public or too the judges/ other competitors will automatically be
disqualified and asked to leave the event immediately.
Best Choreography Group Adults
1. Is destined for groups with more than 5 elements, and without a restriction of maximum
elements with ages higher than 16.
2. The duration of the performance cannot be less than 2 minutes with a tolerance break of no
more than 10 seconds.
3. The panel of judges consist of 4 judges who will judge the groups with the criteria which
appear later in the regulations.
4. The maximum of points given per group is 20 points.
5. The Points given by the judges will determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The 2nd and 3rd
place will be entitled to receive medals, the 1st will receive a prize money to the amount of
900€€.
6. In case of a draw, the group with the higher points award in technical and the movement
correction will be consider winner.
7. Any anti sportsman attitude which involves offensive physical or verbal offenses, either
towards the public or too the judges/ other competitors will automatically be disqualified and
asked to leave the event immediately.
Best Solo Contest
1. This is destined for any competitor of any age to show he´s value in a solo performance.
2. The competitor may opt for an urban style of he´s/her choice, including Dancehall, House,
Krump, Wacking, and Voguing. May improvise or a routine with choreography.
3. The duration of the performance has to be minimum 1:45 and 2 minutes, no tolerance will
be accepted.
4. The panel of judges consist of 4 judges who will judge the groups with the criteria which
appear later in the regulations.
5. The maximum of points given per competitor is 20 points.
6. The Points given by the judges will determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The 2nd and 3rd
place will be entitled to receive medals, the 1st will receive a prize money to the amount of
100€.
7. In case of a draw, the group with the higher points awarded in technical and the movement
correction will be considered winner.
8. Any anti sportsman attitude which involves offensive physical or verbal offenses, either
towards the public or too the judges/ other competitors will automatically be disqualified and
asked to leave the event immediately.
All Styles Battle
1. Is destined for groups of 5 elements without any age restriction, they will have to perform
various styles of Hip-hop.
2. The battles will be done to music chosen and mixed by the DJ and they will also be chosen
by the luck of the draw.
3. The championship will be done in three phases:
Pre disqualifying 1, 2 and 3 semifinal - every competitor will be allowed one entry, and every
group will have 4 minutes to show there worth. They will be selected in the respective order
first the 16, 8, 4 e 2 groups. In the final every competitor will have the right to two entries, one
in every battle, and each one with the maximum duration of 4 minutes per group.
4. The panel of judges consist of 4 judges who will judge the groups with the criteria which
appear later in the regulations, attributing at that time the direct qualification bets 16 groups.
6. In case of a draw the groups will have to battle again, and at that time the judges will to
come to a decision as to the winners.
7. Any anti sportsman attitude which involves offensive physical or verbal offenses, either
towards the public or too the judges/ other competitors will automatically be disqualified and
asked to leave the event immediately.
Bboying / Bgirling Battle
1. Is destined to groups of 3 elements without any age restriction, and will have to battle to
music improvised at that moment.
2. The championship is done in five qualifications:
Pre disqualifying 1, 2 and 3 semifinal - every competitor will be allowed one entry, and every
group will have 3 minutes to show there worth. They will be selected in the respective order
first the 16, 8, 4 e 2 groups. In the final every competitor will have the right to two entries, one
in every battle, and each one with the no limit on the duration.
4. The panel of judges consist of 3 judges who will judge the groups with the criteria which
appear later in the regulations, attributing at that time the direct qualification bets 16 groups.
5. In case of a draw the groups will have to battle again, and at that time the judges will to
come to a decision as to the winners.
6. Any anti sportsman attitude which involves offensive physical or verbal offenses, either
towards the public or too the judges/ other competitors will automatically be disqualified and
asked to leave the event immediately.
Specific Criteria’s for the Groups
1. Technic / Correction in movement –correction and perfection in the movements, the use of
specific technic in the movements according to the styles – up to 4 points
2. Coordination/Synchronization – Coordination and movements between the group elements
– up to 2 points
3. Balance – stable movements, without losing their balance or hesitations – up to 2 points
4. Musicality – Movement with harmony / choreography – up to 2 points.
5. Attitude / Expression – corporal attitude and facial in accordance to the music being played
and the story being told – up to 2 points
6. Originality / Dynamic – Movements hardly used, the groups own characteristic, different
dynamic - up to 2 points
7. Transition –changing the level of the group structure, visual images created – up to 2 Points
8. Level of the movement’s – the level of movements at a normal state, intermediate, on the
ground and jumps - up to 1 Point
9. The correspondence of the groups image to the number being performed - Clothing and
accessories suitable to the style of the music being played and performed to – up to 1 Point
10. Acrobatic elements – The use of boldness movements, a certain degree of risk, phases of
flight, cutting of the monotony in the movements – up to 2 Points
Penalties
1. Trip – 0.5 Point
2. Fall – 2 Points
3. Movements outsider the arena – 0.2 Points per competitor (up to max. 1 Point)
4. Collisions – up to 2 Points
Specific criteria Solo:
1. Technic / Correction on the movement’s – correction and perfection on the movements,
using technical on specific movements according to styles – up to 4 points
2. Balance – stable movements, without losing their balance or hesitations – up to 2 points
3. Musicality – Movement with harmony / choreograph – up to 2 points
4. Attitude – corporal attitude and facial in accordance to the music being played and the story
being told – up to 2 points
5. Originality / Dynamic – Movements hardly used, the groups own characteristic, different
dynamic - up to 2 points
6. Transition –promoting the use of the whole arena, visual effects created –up to 3 Points
7. Level of the movements - the level of movements at a normal state, intermediate, on the
ground and jumps - up to 1 Point
8. The correspondence of the competitors image to the number being performed - Clothing
and accessories suitable to the style of the music being played and performed to - up to 1
Point
9. Acrobatic elements - The use of boldness movements, a certain degree of risk, phases of
flight, cutting of the monotony in the movements - up to 2 Points
Specific Criteria All Styles / Bboying & Bgirling
Apart from this championship having direct classifying, there are criteria with which the judges
guide them self by to decide who the rightful winner of that specific battle. It is evaluated on
the following criteria:
•
Technician and correction of the movements
•
Balance and stability of the movements
•
Musicality and flow of the movement to the music
•
Copra attitude in accordance to the music
•
Originally / Dynamic of the chosen movements
•
Variation on the level of the movements
•
The Capacity of answer to the movements of the crew/group
Of the two groups in the battle, the one completing the most criteria will be chosen to pass on
to the next phase, where they will be competing with the next group. There exists other
criteria which can lead to disqualification of the whole group:
•
Flagrant disrespect for the times utilized in the battles
•
Disrespect when the other crews are performing.
•
All type of attitudes that promote an offensive to the physical integrity or moral to any
other competitor, judge or to the Organizing committee.
OTHER PROVISIONS
1. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to change or to alter any part of the content of
the event, although by doing so is obliged to inform all competitors of the alterations.
2. The Organizing Committee will not refund any tickets for the event or any registrations of
competitors or groups.
