ASIA WUKF CHAMPIONSHIPS
Asia Continent – WUKF Asia,
a huge continent where WUKF has many
affiliated members, but only some of them having the possibility to participate to WUKF world
events, organized in Europe or America. Sometimes the high costs not very available for many
countries in Asia, sometimes the travel visas, sometime political changes blocked the Asian
teams to face the other WUKF teams from all over the world. It is hard for WUKF to promote its
friendship, knowledge and strategy facing these conditions, so for that it rest only one
possibility; the assistance that WUKF officials can give at events organized in Asian countries. So
for the first time the WUKF President and General Secretary were invited to assist the
International WUKF Cup organized by PUKKO Philippines together with a referee seminar and
complete information regarding WUKF structure, strategy and future development. Offering
free accommodation and meals for WUKF delegates, PUKKO Philippines made the WUKF
expenses absolutely reasonable regarding the investment for long term into the spreading of
WUKF spirit in this part of Asia.

From the first moment, the meeting at
airport, we knew that we have there
strong representative and very good
friends. Warm and friendly delegation
from organizing team of PUKKO, flowers
and photos, hugs and hand shakings
made of that moment one that will be
hard to forgive. It was the first personal
meeting between PUKKO officials and
WUKF President and General Secretary,
but that followed after hundreds of emails and chats that in the last five years
kept the permanent connection between
Philippines and WUKF offices.

The PUKKO organizing team, a professional one like we could not imagine,
was 24 hours a day connected to the organizational jobs. We were very
impressed about the energy, devotion and willingness improving all,
referee skills, organization techniques or no matter what could help the
growing and development of federation. And it was a really pleasure to
teach, to advise or to lead all that was necessary there, because working
with excellent and competent people is always a pleasure.

The PUKKO team was leaded by: Shihan Marcelo Navarroza – President,
the two Vice-presidents, Jose C. Nalundasan and Dennis C. Aquino. The
other members of the team, Juan J. Adames - Director of International
Affairs, Meneleo de Mesa - Regional Director, Felino M. Ampil - Director of
Protocol, Aristeo G. Canonigo - Director Activities, Ferdinand B. Federis Director Marketing and Promotions and Cjiela Cyreen F. Navarroza National Treasurer and Secretariat made a great job, working from the
early morning up to the late night for accomplishing all the tasks of the
referee seminar in Santa Rosa and the competition in Manila.

We had 64 participants at the referee seminar, a good number even for a World
Championship, and there were lot of them very well qualified. Of course we could felt the lack
of experience that a good referee could acquire only at great international event like World
Championships, but we get the promises that a strong team from Philippines will be for sure
in Lignano, proving all we said here.
We were happy that the Philippines political officials were very interested of our visit there
and we had the chance to meet the Lady Mayor of Santa Rosa City, Mrs. Arlene Arcillas
Nazareno and one day later the Philippines Vice-president, Mr. Jejomar C. Binay. There
were very nice meetings where we could explain WUKF aim and targets and ask for
supporting PUKKO teams for the international participation.
