International Council of Museums AVICOM International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Images and Sound Fi@mp Festival International pour l'Audiovisuel et le Multimédia sur le Patrimoine AVICOM International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Images and Sound Partners: INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF MUSEUMS CANADIAN HERITAGE INFORMATION NETWORK (CHIN) - CANADA A festival for the museums The purpose of FIAMP is to encourage, develop and promote the realization and the diffusion of audiovisuals (films, videos) and multimedia programs (websites, CD-ROM, computerized programs…) initiated, directed or produced by museums and heritage institutions, and by the professionals of cultural multimedia. It is aimed at professionals of culture, and to those of technologies of (the) communication. Itinerant, FIAMP is held each year in a different country. FIAMP has three components: a competition arbitrated by an international jury, an interprofessional symposium, presentation of the Official Selections to festivalers, audiovisual screenings and multimedia viewing. This festival, which has no equivalent, is particularly appreciated by professionals of museums which are numerous to take part in the competition. Trophies are awarded to the winning institutions during the official closing ceremony of the festival; the awards are: "Grand Prix AVICOM Claude-Nicole HOCQUARD" all categories "Grands Prix Audiovisuels" "Grand Prix short film" "Grand Prix medium-length film" "Grand Prix full length film" "Prix Web’Art" for official institutional sites "Prix Spécial Web’Art" for monothematic topics and virtual exhibitions or programs "Prix Multimédi’Art" for cultural CD-ROM and DVD-ROM "Prix Multimédi’Art Interactif" for interactive terminals "Prix Multimédi’Art Interactif Innovation" for mobile and special programs Prix "coup de coeur" of the jury ICOM International Council of Museums - http://network.icom.museum/avicom - 3/8 AVICOM International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Images and Sound A place for diffusion and consultation The festivalers can view or consult individually the cultural productions registered with the festival, in the spaces dedicated to each type of media. "Cybermuseum" and "multimedia exhibition" Viewing of all the Web sites, CD-ROM and terminals registered to participate to the competition of the festival, Viewing of a Special Selection of the best award-winning multimedia productions preceded in previous editions of the festival since its inception. "Ciném'Art" Projection of the films and video registered in the competition of the festival of the year Projection of a Special Selection of the best award-winning productions in previous editions of the festival since its inception, According to the events or the host country, specific programming: on a topic, a museum, a series, a director… ICOM International Council of Museums - http://network.icom.museum/avicom - 4/8 AVICOM International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Images and Sound A symposium The symposium consists of round tables, conferences, and demonstrations, with the participation of professionals museums and heritage institutions who are involved in multimedia and audiovisual projects, or policies which favor them, and those in audiovisual and new communication technologies. This Open forum, allows exchange and confrontation of ideas and experiences, substantive debates and thoughts on the use of technology in scientific, museographic, teaching, ludo-cultural and commercial subjects. Presentations and demonstrations of programs, software and hardware, allow festivalers to discover and to be informed about the achievements and scientific applications and technological developments related to the study or valorization of collections and cultures: Software creation, delivery, management, simulation, Digital technologies and virtual synthesis, computer, video, photographic… "Workshops study" to become familiar with handling systems and programs. When conditions allow it, a "Technology Exhibition" opens its stalls with presentations of technologies or equipment. Traditionally, it is requested from the host country to carry out the trophy by integrating a double symbolic topic, on one hand heritage and national art, on the other hand, new technologies. hand,2002 new technologies. The hand symbolizes at the same time the creative act, the artist and the art object, while the CD represents at the same time the vector of knowledge and the new technologies, as well as the mirror which values Art. Taiwan 2004 The trophy consists of a base made of out of an invaluable wooden piece surmounted by a gracious silhouette whose arms raised in offering a disc. This character is a fairy. The bronze disc is a reproduction of the “Sublime Mirror” of the Han dynasty also known as the "immortal divine mirror". The circle symbolizes the sky. On the other side of the mirror is affixed a CD-ROM, the new kind of mirror which announces the advent of the age of the multimedia, and represents the contemporary support of knowledge and the vector of their transmission. Shanghai 2010 Fiamp.2010 trophy was created by the staff of the Palace Museum of the Forbidden City in Beijing. It weighs 1kilo is 25 cm high, this crystal trophy, is the reproduction of a ritual bronze vase Fang Ding of the Shang dynasty; the carved decorative motifs are those of a taotie. The trophies were given to the winners, in the presence of Alissandra Cummins,the President of ICOM, during the ceremony held on the occasion of the General conference of ICOM in Shanghai. ICOM International Council of Museums - http://network.icom.museum/avicom - 6/8 AVICOM International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Images and Sound Edition 2012 of the festival Organized in collaboration with the Board of Montréal Museum Directors (BMMD), the AVICOM Committee’s 2012 Conference was hold in Montreal, Canada from October 9–12, 2012 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), during the AVICOM Committee’s annual meeting. The Topic of the edition 2012 is: the development of new technologies and of new trades of museology. The symposium was the opportunity to listen to presentations by specialists in new technologies of sound and image. Coming from various countries, they work for museums, create educational programs or responsible for heritage institutions. Others are producers or try to predict the future of technological development. Considerations on “current reality and ethical positioning”, the conference proposed to draw a parallel between the evolution of the practice of certain trades of museology and collectively ; it allows to start a reflexion on the implications of these practices as regards to new quasi obligatory partnerships between the private sector and the public one, the contents and the container. This symposium was followed by the results of the competition of the "Festival International de l'Audiovisuel et du Multimédia sur le Patrimoine" (FIAMP).
