For Guitar Samuel Peruzzolo-Vieira 2016 This work was commissioned by Márlou Peruzzolo Vieira and University of Aveiro/Prémio de Interpretação Frederico de Freitas. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: - Duration: circa 1'30" - Grace notes are always played very fast. - Accidentals apply only to the note in which they are attached except in case of repeated notes and patterns. - Numbers in parentheses indicate strings: (1) = 1st string; (2) = 2nd string etc. Pizzicato alla Bartók Strings behind the nut (played with the left hand) Harmonic Slap on strings (played with the right hand thumb) Harmonic played with right hand tapping Percussion on side (played with the left hand) Left hand only Percussion on edge (played with the right hand thumb) Left hand pluck Percussion on soundboard (played with the right hand) Right hand only Percussion on bridge (played with the right hand) Bi-tone (also called left-hand pizzicato, but it is played on the part of the string between the left hand and the nut). The F# bi-tone, which appears on the first page, can be obtained by pressing the D# on the 1st string with finger 2 and then playing a left-hand pizzicato with finger 1. The B bi-tone, which appears on the last page, can be obtained by pressing the G# on the 5th string and then playing a left-hand pizzicato with finger 1. Note that these two bi-tones will sound out of tune and this is exactly how they are supposed to sound.
