Early College Awareness Program
Dear Parents and Students,
It is not too soon to think about College. The choices that students make in Middle School and as they transition
into High School will have an impact on their college applications and their lives. The cost of college is a great
concern, but there are many public and private sources of financial aid that you may not know about. Finally,
students should realize how many advantages and opportunities a college education can provide. It is important
to be educated on all of these issues now, while there is still time to plan and prepare.
With the help of the Harvard Club of New Bedford/Fall River, we are holding an Early College Awareness
event for Kuss Middle School on Saturday May, 2, 2009 at the First Congregational Church Hall, 282
Rock St Fall River, MA 02720. Students and parents, guardians, or mentors are all invited.

Graduate(s) of Kuss Middle School will discuss their experiences in college and answer
questions.
- Financial Assistance
Lynne Stack, Director of Admission, Wheaton College will speak about the cost of
college and the financial aid that is available.
- Pizza and Soft Drinks
- Remarks by representative from BCC’s Educational Talent Search Program
- Preparing for College
Lynne Stack, Director of Admission, Wheaton College will discuss the admissions
process and the courses and other activities that will prepare students for college.
- Keynote Speaker
Keynote Speaker Matthew Roy, Asst. Provost UMASS Dartmouth

Não é cedo demais para pensar na Universidade. As escolhas que os alunos fazem na Escola Média e na
transição para a Escola Secondária terão impacto nas suas candidaturas para a universidade e em suas vidas. O
custo de frequentar a universidade pode dar grande preocupação, mas existem muitas fontes financeiras,
públicas e privadas que talvez desconheçam. Estudantes devem tomar conhecimento das várias vantagens e
oportunidades que instrução universitária pode oferecer. É muito importante tomar conhecimento de todas essas
opções agora, enquanto há tempo amplo de planejar e preparar.
Com a ajuda do Clube Harvard de New Bedford/Fall River, nós estamos oferecendo uma sessão informativa
sobre o processo de preparação para a universidade. A sessão levará efeito no Sábado, 2 de Maio, 2009 das
10 da manhã à 1:30 da tarde no salão de festas da igreja First Congregational (mesmo ao lado da escola
Kuss, entrada na Cherry St.). Alunos e os pais, encarregados de educação, ou tutores são convidados.
