obtained at Imperial College London (2004), while
working in the fields of nonlinear fibre optics and
photonic crystal fibres. More recently, he has

Professor at PUCRS, acting on the undergraduate
course in medical physics and the materials science
graduate program. PhD at Uppsala University,
Sweden (1996). His main research line has been on
modification of materials by radiation, in particular
production of nanostructures at surfaces by
individual energetic ions. After a sabbatical year
(2009/2010) at Harvard Medical School, working
on nanostructured probes for contrast agents, he
has started new research lines on physics applied to
biomedicine.

materiais nanoestruturados de carbono e metal dicalcogênios
(Transition Metal Dichalcogenides). Trabalha com Teoria de

carbonáceos de solos antropogênicos, biocarvões e
Espectroscopia Raman. Fez mestrado em Física também na
UFMG, aplicando a espectroscopia Raman ao estudo de formas
carbonáceas presentes em solos antropogênicos da Amazônia
(Terras Pretas de Índios). Obteve o grau de Bacharel em Física
na Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG), onde trabalhou com
Ressonância Ferromagnética de Filmes Finos de Ferro e
efeitos magnetostrictivos.

magnetorresistência colossal, supercondutividade, transição
magnética, transição de fase metal-isolante e acoplamento
magneto-elétrico. Atualmente, atua na área de Física da
Matéria Condensada, com ênfase em Síntese e estudo das
Propriedades Estruturais, Magnéticas e de Transporte Elétrico
em micro/nanoestruturados hierárquicas. Dr. Souza também
desenvolve pesquisa na área de materiais magnetoelétrico
(spintrônica) e multiferróicos nanoestruturados
(nanopartículas, nanofios e nanotubos) com o objetivo de
obter um melhor entendimento acerca da natureza do
ferromagnetismo e da ferroeletricidade.

DALPIAN
Gustavo Dalpian se formou em 'Física - Licenciatura Plena' na
Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Concluiu seu doutorado
em Fisica em 2003, no Instituto de Fisica da Universidade de
São Paulo, onde estudou as propriedades de superfícies de
materiais semicondutores. Por sua tese de doutorado recebeu
menção honrosa no Prêmio SBF de Melhor Tese de
Doutoramento de 2004. Fez pós-doutoramento no National
Renewable Energy Laboratory e na University of Texas at
Austin, nos Estados Unidos, onde desenvolveu pesquisas
sobre materiais para energia e nanomateriais. Ingressou na
UFABC em 2006, integrando a primeira turma de professores
contratados. Coordenou a criação do Programa de PósGraduação em Nanociências e Materiais Avançados desta
universidade, programa este aprovado pela CAPES nos níveis
de Mestrado e Doutorado. Foi Vice-Reitor da UFABC entre
2010 e 2014. Atualmente é Pró-Reitor de Pós Graduação da
UFABC. Publicou mais de 50 artigos em revistas científicas
especializadas, sendo que seus artigos foram citados mais de
1300 vezes. É revisor científico de muitas dessas revistas.
Ministrou palestras convidadas em inúmeros eventos
nacionais e internacionais, bem como em diversas instituições
de ensino e pesquisa. Coordenou a construção do Plano de
Desenvolvimento Institucional (PDI) da UFABC para o período
de 2013 a 2022.
