2. Venue
Venue
The Race Venue is located in Praia da Luz, Lagos, with the swimming taking place at Luz
beach, right in front of the The Beach Hut.
Medical Services
First Aid and Emergency Medical Services will be available to anyone requiring medical assistance
at the venue, on 26th April, before & during competition hours.
Medical and paramedic personnel from Lagos Civil Protection and Luz Doc will be available
throughout competition time.
Ambulances will be available to provide emergency transfer to hospital. A Medical Tent will
also be provided on site at the finish area.

The Race Office is located next to the Transition area and is open from 25th April 07:30 –15:30

4 Course Maps
Course Familiarization
Maps of the course are attached in the email and have been posted on www.algarvetriathlons.com there
will also be a map of each course at the signing in area on the day of the race.
Swim route 750m/1500m – A rectangular course will be laid out from the Praia da Luz Beach
Cycle route 20km/40km – 1lap for the Sprint 2 laps for the Olympic
Run route 5km/10km – 1lap for the Sprint 2 laps for the Olympic
5 Competition Information
Information about the Race
Start
The start area is on Praia da Luz Beach.
The race will start on the beach, with a short run to the water. In the starting line athletes must
stand in a starting position approximately 75cm wide. The Race official will start each race.
The athletes are required to leave their last minute gear at the transition area.
Swim Course
The swim takes place in the Atlantic Ocean with a run start from the beach.
In the Event the Sprint Tri athletes must complete 1 lap of 750m before exiting the water and the
Olympic Tri athletes must complete 2 laps of 750m – Olympic athletes will exit the water after the 1st
lap and re-enter the water from where they started to complete the 2 nd lap.
The water temperature is expected to be 18°C – 22°C.
Bike Course
In the Event the Sprint Triathletes must complete 1 lap of the 20km bike route and the Olympic
Triathletes must complete 2 laps of the 20km bike route. The bike route will take competitors out of the
Praia da Luz, heading towards the village of Burgau. 1 lap of the course for the Sprint athletes 2 laps
for the Olympic athletes. Olympic athletes will start their 2 nd lap at the roundabout marked by a yellow
circle on the attached map.
Run Course
The 5km run course extends itself along the sea in a side walk, with a small incursion to a
residential street at the end. The athletes run in opposite directions. The Sprint Triathletes will
complete 1 lap of the route with the Olympic Triathletes completing 2 laps of the course.
The course is a mixture of dirt road, sand, cement and pavet.

Aid stations
There will be two aid stations on the run course. Closed bottles of sealed water and cups
will be handed out.
Competition Rules
The Praia da Luz Sprint and Olympic Triathlon 2015 will follow the latest published Competition
Rules from the International Triathlon Union. This is a non-drafting event.
Prizes
There will be trophies given for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place competitors of all disciplines. Medals to be
given to all competitors who take part.
Weather Conditions
Weather temperature is good at this time of the year. The temperatures can go from 15ºC to
25ºC. The weather is usually sunny but windy in the afternoon.

Results will be uploaded live at the FTP’s official website: www.federacao-triatlo.pt
All the Results information will be accessible to competitors at the after party from 16.00
Protests and Appeals - Competitors found cheating will be disqualified
6 Transition area
Only accredited persons will be allowed to access certain venue areas. Accreditation numbers will be
provided. Strict access to transition area will be limited to officials and athletes only.
