BRAZILIAN ORIENTEERING CONFEDERATION Founded in January 11th 1999 - CNPJ 03071250/0001-00 Member of the International Orienteering Federation - IOF www.cbo.org.br MINUTES OF COURSE No. 326 BRAZILIAN ORIENTEERING CONFEDERATION (BOC) MAP MAKER’S COURSE - LEVEL I On the seventeenth day of May two thousand and eleven, at eight AM, the following people met at the Staff Staff Support Battalion (SSV – Bat), placed at 163, Verlengde Gemene Lands Weg Street, in Paramaribo-Surinam: Mr. LUIZ SERGIO MENDES, registered in the Brazilian Orienteering Confederation Map Committee under No 15/9 and Mr. CARLOS ALBERTO XAVIER, registered in the Brazilian Orienteering Confederation Map Committee under No 10/7, both course instructors from Brazil, Mr. ORLANDO PACHECO NETO, Brazilian Army Captain, Sports Assessor in the Surinamese Armed Forces and the course students attending the Brazilian Orienteering Confederation Map Maker’s Course Level I: Mr. LEONARDO JORGE ANDRÉ DE BARROS, Brazilian Army First Sergeant, Sports Assistant in the Surinamese Armed Forces, Mr. WILSON BALANSI, Mr. MAIKEL MAARTEN COMVALIUS, Mr. GIOVANNI MANUEL BRUNST, Mr. DANNY IVAN DWARKASING, Mr. JACQUES BRYAN CHAAR, Mr. RUDY WILFRED KUHN, Mr. LUCIEN RICARDO VROOM and Mr. STEVEN ALBERT JACOTT, all Surinamese Army Sergeants. This meeting is organized for the opening ceremony and for starting the Brazilian Orienteering Confederation Map Maker’s Course Level I to be carried out from May 17th to 21st, two thousand and eleven, with a 40-hour workload. Beginning the course activities Mr. LUIZ SERGIO MENDES invited Mr. CARLOS ALBERTO XAVIER to be the course secretary. Then the instructors saluted and thanked the students for their presences, confirmed their registrations and presented a summary of the course activities, highlighting the students’ importance and responsibility regarding Orienteering in Surinam, since this is the sport’s first step in direction to its development in this country. Next, the instructors handed in the following material to the students: Course program, list of material named “Mapping Kit”, paper sheets containing the magnetic North, polyester paper, folders containing an extract of ISOM/2000 and a extract of ISDC/2004, for the files containing the International Specification or Orienteering Maps (ISOM/2000), for them to prepare their clipboards for field working, International Specification for Description Cards (ISDC/2004) and International Specification for Sprint Orienteering Maps (ISSOM/2007), all in PDF, and also samples of Orienteering maps to help them in understanding the vegetation, features and terrain characteristics. As nothing else remained to be discussed, the meeting was officially finished and right after it Mr. LUIZ SERGIO MENDES began course’s the first class as specified in the Course Program.
