11H00 - Visit to Maritime Museum of Ilhavo and Cod Fish Aquarium
Apart from its architectural relevance, Ílhavo Maritime Museum has 3 main rooms: the Ria
Room, where you can observe the traditional boats of the region; the Codfish Fishing room
with a live replica of a boat used in codfish fishing in the ice-cold North-European seas and
a room devoted to local people, deeply related to the sea life.
The Codfish Aquarium is a must-see spot of the city of Ílhavo, which so intensely promotes
the preservation of sea traditions. It will certainly be a very interesting surprise!

The Art Nouveau draws the elegant buildings ‘shape and decorates splendid tiles,
according to the aesthetics of the 20’s. Aveiro is included in the Réseau Art Nouveau
Network.
Fishermen neighborhood with its tiny narrow streets spreads from Channel S. Roque to
Channel Botirões, and with its tiny narrow houses covered with beautiful tiles. It is
becoming a trendy quarter of the city with a cosy atmosphere nice for a walk or a bike ride.
16H30 – Tea Time at Art Nouveau Museum Casa de Chá
Equally awesome is the Casa de Chá tearoom on the first level. This charming café has an
indoor room with bistro tables. An upright piano stands ready for expert or amateur players.
Outside, bean bag chairs are strewn about inviting guests to relax and enjoy the open air. A
huge range of teas are available, as are specialty coffees such as cappuccino. Local cakes
and fresh scones are perfect for completing a day of art nouveau appreciation.

Encircled by a ring of medieval walls and crowned by the Moorish castle rebuilt by D. Dinis,
which is now a pousada, Óbidos is one of the most perfect examples of our medieval
fortress. It s in olden times, the town is entered through the southern gate of Santa Maria,
embellished with eighteenth-century azulejo decoration. Inside the walls, which at sunset
take on a golden colorings, one can sense a cheerful medieval ambience of winding
streets, old whitewashed houses bordered with blue or yellow, Manueline embrasures and
windows, reminding us that King D. Manuel I (sixteenth century) carried out major works
here, and masses of colorful flowers and plants.

Peniche, the fortress that D. João IV ordered to be built in the 17th century was an
important military complex for protection against invasions from the sea and during
dictatorship (1933 to 1974) the fort was turned into a political prison. Fishing is still an
