Bob Plummer began his career with 15 years of experience leading manufacturing
operations, including Toyota experience at NUMMI, followed by 15 years of
experience as Division President and CEO of both manufacturing and service
companies. He have a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Kettering University
and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
While in the roles of Division President and CEO, he implemented TPS in several
businesses. Two of his larger implementations include Portola Packaging, a $200
million global plastic packaging manufacturer and Siegel-Robert Automotive, a $450
million automotive components manufacturer. When implementing TPS and kaizen,
he emphasize the important role of leadership, organizational capability and culture
and solving problems. Industries where he is currently focused are manufacturing,
health care, and distribution.
He lives in St. Louis, Missouri, USA with his wife, Sandy and their two grown children,
Chad and Chelsea.

Toni Davies brings over 27 years of experience developing Kaizen organizations
worldwide, including Asia, Africa, Europe, South and North America. She has
contributed sensei, consulting, and internal leadership to two premier international
consulting groups; Productivity Consulting Group and the Kaizen Institute. She
attributes her own development to her work with such trailblazers as Shigeo Shingo,
Bunji Tozawa, Ryuji Fukuda, and Peter Drucker.
Expert in Policy Deployment, Dr. Davies’ long-standing work with Dr. Ryuji Fukuda
provided the policy deployment case studies (US) used in his book “Building
Organizational Fitness” (1997).
Global humanitarian service is a top priority. In 2014 she led a Lean for Hope mission
for World Vision in Africa (Ethiopia) through Honsha, demonstrating that Lean is
applicable in all settings and cultures. Speaking engagements have included the
Shingo Institute, Productivity Inc., Kaizen Institute, Institute of Industrial Engineers
(IIE), Health Systems IIE, Vistage International, and San Diego State University.

Objectivos | Objectives
Policy Deployment means set the right direction towards strategic goals, and align
resources to implement the improvement strategy. This workshop includes a brief
overview of Policy Deployment, but will focus on the effective communication
process of Catchball, starting with the President’s message through the dialogue of
alignment and resource deployment required for implementation. Groupwork is
involved.

designed for leaders who are ready to challenge and recharge their lagging Policy
deployment efforts through a closer, in-depth look at Catchball Communications. It is
best suited for small (2-4) groups from the same organization. Please bring a copy of

Sammy Obara learned and implemented the Toyota Production System (TPS) at
Toyota facilities in Japan, Brazil, and Venezuela. He currently aids companies
implementing lean through Honsha.ORG
He has taught Lean to consulting firms, educational organizations such as Harvard and
Stanford, and in humanitarian missions thru Asia and Africa. With more than 30 years
of Lean experience, he has helped more than 400 companies in diverse environments
ranging from schools, to healthcare, to military, to bio-tech and many others.
Mastered in Technology Management, he also is a faculty member with the Lean
Institute and an instructor of Global Strategy Management for the California
Community College system. He is a guest lecturer on lean for post-graduate classes at
Stanford University and San Diego State University, and has been a speaker at
conferences sponsored by the American Production and Inventory Control Society,
the Association for Productivity and Quality (APQ), and the American Society for
Quality (ASQ).

It’s necessary to change the mindset of those who still think Kaizen is made of
huge improvements. With sensitive information and pictorial examples, we will
introduce the Kaizen Teian methodology, which is used by Toyota to engage and
commit its associates in the kaizen culture, everybody does kaizens, every day,
everywhere.

Darril Wilburn while at Toyota, studied the Toyota Production System as a student of
OMDD, Toyota‘s internal Sensei group. He also developed and implemented the
Toyota Way 2001 at Toyota’s largest manufacturing plant in North America, and
worked with The Toyota Institute in Japan to implement the Toyota Business Practice
(TBP), leading the global pilot of this program, as well as the North American Senior
Executive sessions.
Now with Honsha, he has had the opportunity to work with over 100 companies in
countries such as USA, Brazil, Indonesia, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and
Lithuania among others. Darril is also an active speaker, delivering presentations and
keynote speeches on Lean Principles around the globe including:
