On July 15, 2009 at approximately 4:00 pm Officer James Stys was dispatched to a
reported shoplifting incident at Radio Shack in Hudson. The suspect left the scene
in a brown Nissan prior to Officer Stys's arrival. Officer Stys observed the vehicle
on Derry Street, and initiated a motor vehicle stop. The driver, who is identified as
Marco Abreu, 21 years old of 130 Chestnut Street, Marlborough, Massachusetts was
eventually arrested for Driving After Suspension, 2nd offense and Disobeying a
Police Officer (both misdemeanors). The passenger, who is identified as Andrew
Saul, 26 years old formerly of 50 Grist Mill Road, Littleton, Massachusetts, was
arrested for Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution (misdemeanor). An inventory
search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of electronics accessories, DVD's, cell
phone accessories and other merchandise. After further investigation it was
determined that most of these items were stolen from chain stores in Massachusetts.
Abreu received two additional charges of Receiving Stolen Property (one a class B
felony and the other a misdemeanor). Saul received an additional charge of
Receiving Stolen Property (class A felony). Abreu's bail was set at $25,000 cash and
Saul's bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety. Neither subject could post bail as of
this writing, and both are scheduled to be video arraigned in the Nashua District
Court on July 16, 2009 at 8:15.
