hearts. Finally, on this radiant night, a little angel “fishing the Star of Christ” predicts that
He will make us “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).
The drawing by Maria Elisa Alcântara da Cruz (11) expresses the great truth of
the Nativity Scene in the typical simplicity and tenderness of children: Jesus came for the
pure in heart, for the meek, for those who are willing to receive Him, turning their hearts
into a beautiful and welcoming cave, adorned with flowers and surrounded by “little pets.”
In the smile of the Child God we can hear Him saying later: “Suffer little children to come
unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16).
Finally, in the happy look of Nadia Gabrielle Mukae Iqueuti (10), the little
Christmas tree symbolizes the Christ that is the vine, the tree of life, of which we are
the branches (John 15:5). The ornamentation represents the fruits we should bear once
we receive the “sap” of the Love of God that took human form to save us. The Star of
Bethlehem hovers in the sky, reminding us that Jesus Christ is the great gift of God to all
humanity. For this reason, the presents that we give at Christmas are around the Tree, to
show the great joy that that we feel for this unmatchable Gift that God gave us.
It's Christmas Day! It's time to love one another. It's time to open the
“floodgates” of our heart and let the waters of mercy, generosity, forgiveness, love flow.
It's time “to make crooked ways straight,” to clear the path, to sow goodness, to water
hearts, to reap mercy and share blessings. “Those who give Love give gold to God”
(Saint John of Avila).
On this Christmas day, let out hearts be interwoven, let us be more united,
because the Lord is coming again; He is once again redeeming us; He is once again
offering us a New Life, showing us the Path to Happiness, which is expressed in a single
Truth, in a single Word: LOVE.

ABOUT THE SOUVENIR SHEET
The block shows the image of Joseph and Mary gathered around the baby
Jesus, from where light rays emanate, representing family affection and love. The flying
doves reinforce the message “Happy Christmas, lots of peace and prosperity.” Above,
an angel blesses the sacred family, bringing the star of Bethlehem hanging from a
wand. Flowers and stars complete the Christmas night scene. Mixed vectorial illustration
techniques were used.
ABOUT THE STAMPS
The drawing represents the look of a child as it thinks about how Christmas
with its family would be like. “I used strong colors because I wanted to stress, in the look,
the idea of an eye that does not even exist, just like Christmas does not exist for many
children. The star of Bethlehem is a cry for attention from parents and the two presents
are for them. The contour of the “apple of the eyes” symbolizes the old colorful lollipop
that children like so much to be given in Christmas. The yellow portrays the artificiality
of the snow. It exists for some children, but not for others.” (Nadia Gabrielle). Coloreddrawing technique using colored pencils and crayon.
“Jesus is the most important thing to me in Christmas, as He was the One
who brought divine peace to the world and suffered for us all. Celebrating Christmas
is important, mainly to keep the family together, but it is also important to know that
Christmas is the birth of Jesus. When I was thinking about what to draw, I kept wondering
‘what would the birth of Jesus look like?’...I decided to express my true feelings about
Christmas, about what many people don't remember to feel on that day.”(Maria Elisa).

É Natal!
Cristo nasceu para mim!
“Ninguém julgue ter celebrado bem o Natal se não se sentiu como que fulminado
por esta descoberta: CRISTO NASCEU PARA MIM!” (Papa Paulo VI)
É Natal! É Jesus, o Nosso Salvador, que vem ao nosso encontro
pelo ventre bendito de Maria!
A liturgia de Natal comemora a aparição, no mundo, do Filho de Deus, o seu
nascimento em Belém e as suas primeiras manifestações aos homens. Mas a Igreja não
vive o Natal de Jesus como um acontecimento do passado e distante de nós: a graça do
Natal continua, e continuam a alegria e a surpresa daquele acontecimento da caridade de
Deus que nos salvou com a encarnação do seu Verbo.
“O Anjo disse-lhe: Não tenhas medo, Maria! Encontraste graça junto a Deus.
Conceberás e darás à luz um filho, e lhe porás o nome de Jesus. Ele será grande; será
chamado Filho do Altíssimo. Maria, então, perguntou ao Anjo: Como acontecerá isso, se eu
não conheço homem? O anjo respondeu: O Espírito Santo descerá sobre ti, e o poder do
Altíssimo te cobrirá com a Sua sombra. Por isso o ente santo que nascer de ti será chamado
Filho de Deus. Maria disse: Eis aqui a serva do Senhor! Faça-se em mim segundo tua Palavra.”
(Lc 1,30-35.38).
É Natal! Em Belém, Cristo nasce da Virgem Maria. A Palavra de Deus se faz
Carne e o Filho eterno do Pai entra na nossa história temporal para nos tornar eternos.
Uma explosão de alegria rompe-se em nosso coração porque, para nossa fé, Natal não
é apenas recordação. Deus se torna, verdadeiramente, presente em nossa vida, e isso
modifica o nosso modo de ser e agir. O amor passa a marcar nossa existência porque
Deus nos amou e por primeiro nos deu a vida.
Hoje, a Virgem deu à luz o Filho de Deus Altíssimo. A humanidade, em uma
gruta, oferece abrigo ao Deus que se deixa encontrar. Uma estrela mostra aos Magos
o caminho que conduz a Belém, onde nasceu um Menino que é Deus desde toda a
eternidade. Venham, convida o Anjo, à gruta para acolher o Fruto do Paraíso. Em Belém
germinou a Flor do perdão. Em Belém encontra-se o poço da Água nascente que sacia a
sede da alma. “Quem beber desta água nunca mais terá sede” (Jo 4,13).
Apressemo-nos a ir a Belém, ali nasceu para nós o Deus eterno feito Criança.
Cristo a Luz do Mundo! “Eu sou a Luz do Mundo, quem me segue não andará nas trevas,
mas terá a luz da vida” (Jo 8,12). Deixemos que esta Luz nos envolva, inunde o nosso
coração, clareie a nossa mente, norteie os nossos caminhos. O Menino de Belém é “O
Caminho, a Verdade e a Vida” (Jo 14,6).
Neste dia bendito, aproximemo-nos com veneração do Menino Deus, no
presépio, e descubramos o mistério de tão grande Amor. É pura bondade e Amor do Pai,
que em Sua Vontade Salvífica nos envia Seu Filho Jesus. Seu Amor tornou-se visível ao
assumir nossa fragilidade humana e se fez próximo de nós. Seu Amor fez-se criança, para
que compreendêssemos que a cada dia, Ele, o Amor, deve nascer em nós.
Percebemos então que somos chamados a ser amor para cada pessoa
porque “Deus é Amor” (I Jo 4,8.16). Isso muda nosso modo de conversar, porque nos
tornamos capazes de escutar. Tornamo-nos mais sensíveis em perceber a presença e as
necessidades dos outros e motivados a encontrar respostas de amor, de acolhimento, de
paz e de esperança.
Os Correios, pelos selos e produtos que emitem, divulgam ao mundo inteiro o
significado e a importância do Natal, ao mesmo tempo em que comemora tão expressiva
data.
No Bloco Comemorativo, o designer Fabio Lopez retrata a Sagrada Família
unida pelo Amor e envolta pela Luz que emana do Menino Deus, “O Sol nascente” (Lc
1,78), que a todos ilumina.
Sobre esses corações entrelaçados paira o Espírito de Deus, o Santificador,
doador dos dons e frutos que geram um Feliz Natal. Finalmente, nesta noite radiante,
um anjinho “pescando a Estrela de Cristo”, nos antecipa que Ele nos fará “pescadores
de homens” (Mt 4-19).
No desenho de Maria Elisa Alcântara da Cruz (11anos), na simplicidade e na
ternura das crianças, se expressa a grande verdade do Presépio: Jesus veio para os
puros, para os mansos, para os que estão dispostos a recebê-lo transformando seus
corações na mais bonita e acolhedora gruta, adornada de flores e rodeada de “bichinhos
de estimação”. No sorriso do Menino Deus podemos ouvi-lo dizendo mais tarde: “Deixai
vir a mim as criancinhas e não as impeçais, porque o Reino de Deus é daqueles que se
parecem com elas”. (Lc 18,16).
Finalmente, no olhar alegre de Nadia Gabrielle Mukae Iqueuti (10 anos), o
pinheirinho de Natal simboliza o Cristo que é a videira, a árvore da vida e nós, os ramos
(cf. Jo 15,5). Os enfeites representam os frutos que devemos dar porque recebemos a
“seiva” do Amor de Deus que se faz Homem para nossa salvação. No firmamento paira
a Estrela de Belém, lembrando que Jesus Cristo é o grande presente de Deus para
toda a humanidade. Por isso, ao redor da Árvore estão os presentes que oferecemos
no Natal, para demonstrar a grande alegria que sentimos por esse Presente inigualável
que recebemos de Deus.
É Natal! É tempo de ir ao encontro do outro. De abrir as “comportas” de nosso
coração e deixar jorrar as águas da misericórdia, da generosidade, do perdão, do amor,
é tempo de “aplainar as veredas”, de suavizar o caminho, de semear bondade, de
regar corações, de colher graças e partilhar bênçãos. “Oferece ouro a Deus aquele que
oferece amor” (São João de Ávila).
Que neste Natal os corações fiquem mais entrelaçados, as mãos mais unidas,
porque novamente o Senhor vem; novamente Ele nos resgata; novamente nos oferece
Vida Nova, nos mostra o Caminho da Felicidade, que se expressa numa única Verdade,
numa única Palavra: AMOR.

SOBRE O BLOCO
O bloco apresenta a imagem de José e Maria, reunidos em torno do menino
Jesus, de onde emanam raios de luz representando o carinho e o amor familiar. As
pombas voando reforçam a mensagem “Feliz Natal, muita paz e prosperidade”. Acima,
um anjo abençoando a Sagrada Família, trazendo a estrela de Belém pendurada numa
varinha. Flores e estrelas completam o cenário da noite natalina. Foram utilizadas
técnicas mistas de ilustração vetorial.
SOBRE OS SELOS
O desenho representa o olhar de uma criança num momento em que ela pensa
em como seria o Natal de sua família. “Usei cores fortes porque quis destacar no olhar
a ideia de um olho que até não existe, assim como o Natal que também não existe para
muitas crianças. A estrela de Belém é o pedido de atenção dos pais e os dois presentes
são para eles. O contorno da ‘menina dos olhos’ simboliza o antigo pirulito colorido que
as crianças tanto gostam de receber no Natal. A cor amarela retrata a artificialidade da
neve. Ela existe para algumas crianças e para outras não.” (Nadia Gabrielle). Técnica

“Para mim a coisa mais importante do Natal é Jesus, pois foi Ele quem trouxe
a paz divina para o mundo e foi quem sofreu por todos nós. A celebração do Natal é
importante, principalmente para a união de uma família, mas também é importante
saber que Natal é nascimento de Jesus. Na hora de desenhar, eu fiquei pensando
‘como seria o nascimento de Jesus?’...eu pensei que poderia mostrar o meu sentimento
verdadeiro sobre o Natal, a coisa que realmente muitas pessoas não se lembram de

It's Christmas Day!
Christ was born for me!
“Nobody should think that they truly celebrated Christmas if they were not
overwhelmed by this realization: CHRIST WAS BORN FOR ME!” (Pope Paul VI)
It's Christmas Day! It's Jesus, Our Savior, who came into our midst
through the blessed womb of Mary!
The liturgy of Christmas celebrates the apparition of the Son of God in the
world, his birth in Bethlehem, and His first appearances to men. But the Church does
not see Jesus' Christmas as a past and distant event: the grace of Christmas continues,
as well as the joy and surprise of God's mercy saving us through the incarnation of the
Word.
“The Angel said to her: Do not be afraid, Mary! You have found favor with God.
You will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will
be great; He will be called the Son of the Most High. And Mary said to the angel: How will
this be, since I am a virgin? And the angel answered her: The Holy Spirit will come upon
you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy — the Son of God. Mary said: Behold, I am the servant of the Lord! Let
it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:30-35.38).
It's Christmas Day! In Bethlehem, Christ was born from the Virgin Mary. The
Word of God became Flesh and the eternal Son of the Father came into our temporal
history to make us eternal. An explosion of joy fills our heart because, in our faith,
Christmas is not only a remembrance. God truly becomes present in our lives, changing
our way of being and acting. Love begins to guide our existence because God loved us
and gave us life first.
Today, the Virgin gave birth to the Son of God Almighty. Humanity, in a cave, gave
shelter to the God that let himself be found. A star shows the Wise Men the path leading
to Bethlehem, where a Boy who is God since all eternity was born. Come, the Angel
invites, to the cave to reap the Fruit of Paradise. The Flower of forgiveness blossomed in
Bethlehem. The spring of the Water that quenches the thirst of the soul is in Bethlehem.
“Whoever drinks of this water will never be thirsty again.” (John 4:13).
Let us go to Bethlehem at once, as the eternal God made Child was born to us
there. Christ, the Light of the World! “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will
never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12). Let this Light surround
us, fill our hearts, clear up our minds, guide us. The Boy in Bethlehem is “The Way, the
Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6).
On this blessed day, let us approach the Child God in the Nativity Scene with
veneration and let us discover the mystery of such great Love. It is the pure goodness
and Love of the Father, who in his Saving Will sends us His Son Jesus. His Love became
visible when it took the form of our human fragility and came close to us. His Love took
the form of a child, so that we could understand that, He, Love, should be born in us
every day.
We then realize that we are called to express love to each person because “God
is Love” (I John 4:8,16). This changes our way of talking, because we become capable
of hearing. We become more sensitive to perceive the presence and needs of others and
motivated to find answers of love, acceptance, peace, and hope.
Through the stamps and products that it issues, the Brazilian Post disseminates
the meaning and importance of Christmas to the entire world as it celebrates such a
significant date.
In the Commemorative Stamp Block, the designer Fabio Lopez portrays the
Sacred Family joined by Love and surrounded by the Light that emanates from the Child
God, “the Sunrise” (Luke 1:78) that shines on all of us. The Spirit of God, the Sanctifier,
donor of the gifts and fruits that bring a Happy Christmas, hovers above these interwoven
