«Eco-friendly waterproof and breathable fabric. The laminate is the combination of a bio membrane and a bio fabric, as a result of a synergy
between Foot by Foot – Revestimentos Têxteis Lda. and Vilartex – Empresa de Malhas Vilarinho Lda.The fibers of the textile are made from a
blend of chitosan and viscose. The chitosan is a derivative of the shells of crabs and shellfish. It is a material absolutely "safe", whose
biocompatibility has been tested scientifically, as to be also used in the medical, health and medication. The fundamental characteristics of
chitosan are: very strong antibacterial effect; complete biodegradability; biocompatibility (antiallergic) and high humidity absorption. The
antibacterial and antimicrobial is given with the inhibition of growth of bacteria, also performing an anti-odor. The high degree of comfort,
hypoallergenic and high moisture absorption (and therefore sweat) make garments made with this fiber particularly suitable for used in direct
contact with the skin. To the fabric, we added the waterproof and breathable effect of a bio-membrane. It contains renewable raw materials of
agriculture origin such as non-genetically modified starch derived from crops. This bio-membrane is certified compostable and biodegradable
according to the European Standard EN 13432, the US Standard ASTM D6400 and the Australian Standard AS 4736.»
