MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL PLANTATION, FLORIDA OCTOBER 6, 2004 The meeting was called to order by Councilman Jacobs, President of the City Council. CONSENT AGENDA Mr. Lunny read tonight’s Consent Agenda by title. As a Commissioner of the CRA, Mayor Armstrong had voting privileges for Item CA-4. CA-1. CA-2. Approve insurance renewal with Florida League of Cities from October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005 for $794,538. Ordinance No. 2333 Second and final reading of an amended ORDINANCE pertaining to the subject of Finance; codifying the Parks and Recreation fees for the City of Plantation; amending Sec. 2-373 in order to reference the new and modified fee schedules; providing a savings clause; and providing an effective date therefore. CA-3. Resolution No. 9151 RESOLUTION approving the expenditures and appropriations reflected in the WEEKLY EXPENDITURE REPORT for September 23, 2004 through September 29, 2004. CA-4. Resolution No. 9152 RESOLUTION approving the expenditures and appropriations reflected in the WEEKLY EXPENDITURE REPORT for September 23, 2004 through September 29, 2004. (CRA) City Council, October 6, 2004 9177 Plantation, Florida Motion by Councilman Fadgen, seconded by Councilwoman Uria, to approve tonight’s Consent Agenda as read. Motion carried on the following roll call vote: Ayes: Edwards, Fadgen, Uria, Bendekovic, Jacobs Nays: None Note: Mayor Armstrong voted affirmatively on Item CA-4. ***** VI. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS None. ***** VII. LEGISLATIVE ITEMS None. ***** VIII. QUASI-JUDICIAL CONSENT AGENDA None. ***** IX. QUASI-JUDICIAL ITEMS None. ***** X. CONSIDERATION OF COUNCIL MEMBERS’ COMMENTS AND PUBLIC REQUESTS Phyllis Gerber, President of Lauderdale West Board of Directors, commented on the problem of tree roots going under the foundations of the homes and into the sewer pipes. In response to Councilman Edwards, Ms. Gerber advised under the neighborhood planning, the Landscape Department surveyed the area and advised the homeowners which trees could be removed. They have not been back to the area since that time. Councilman Edwards suggested the Landscape Department revisit the area and attempt to formulate a solution. If a resolution cannot be reached, the matter should be brought back to Council for further discussion. City Council, October 6, 2004 9178 Plantation, Florida Mayor Armstrong suggested the Maintenance Company work with the Landscape Department to create a management plan that will work for everyone. Councilwoman Bendekovic suggested perhaps funds from the neighborhood enhancement program could be used to help defray the cost of the tree removal. Nat Freedman, former board member of Lauderdale West, commented on the Live Oak trees, noting they are inappropriate for small properties. ***** XI.
